The BIG Book on the Gastric Sleeve!
Arts137 replied to Alex Brecher's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Big Book on the gastric Sleeve! Read it all and it's better than good. It's a must read and I'd recommend it for everyone from the Very Start of the process. While I need to go back and Dive Deep into the book, I have two first suggestions based on a lot of questions that I've seen on our VST board. 1. Please consider expanding the Pre-op medical preps. Here's what I mean... go into more detail about what exams and tests "might" be required for insurance or the surgeon. Descibe them from the patients perspective. Might need to be a page for each test.. Consider including: Pulmonologist examination and clearance: Exam, Pulmonary Function Test, Methacholine Challenge, sleep study (and what if you are positive for OSD (sleep apnea) and require CPAP. Cardiologist examination and clearance: Exam, Resting ECG, Stress Test, Pharmacological Stress Test, BNP. GI evaluation and clearance: Colonoscopy, Endoscopy I am SURE that there is/are more but at least it's a start. 2. There are SO MANY questions about what Protein suppliments are out there. Consider adding a comparison table or nutritional values and costs, (maybe the results of a member poll re taste) etc. of as many of the "acceptable" ones as you can. Shoot, might even allow products to pay for a One Page ad/information sheet. (If they were smart they'd send free samples to folks who bought the book). This is just a start. Let me know if I can help! Art Spencer (Sleeve Date 6-4-13) -

Save one and toss the rest... OR use for painting clothes, or gardening clothes (but they might fall off) -
shoot, and I was just starting a prayer...

3 weeks, but that was because the Doc thought he did not have everything (he did) and he used an 'out of date' BCBS number (MY error). so 1/2 him and 1/2 me. Likely would have been 10 days to 2 weeks.

We're your pal, fersure!!! Don't weigh yourself and keep following the program. You HAVE to lose then! -
after losing 130#, you can't be tripped by a pop tart or a 'bite' of pizza. Get back on the program and your (obvious) successes will continue.

Canadian Chick, You ain't broken. If you are losing inches, you will lose pounds. Could you give us a monthly weights, and maybe the smart ones can comment. I'm not smart, but I AM supportive. Keep on keeping on and it'll get better. As Winston Churchill said; "Never, Never, Never Give Up" -
Meal replacement shakes?
Arts137 replied to need2bthin!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use UNJURY 'cause my NUT suggested them. Can only buy on the web, but you get the shipment fast (I get next day with regular shipping). I like the taste, but some don't! -
caffine is an irratant to the stomach. My NUT group does not even wwant decaf... go figure... BUT there are a Lot of different suggestions here.

WOW, there are some recent posts that discuss body image, and suggest that WE may be the last to notice the 'stranger in the mirror'. But, if you are following the plan, the stranger is YOU!

Casein powder for better protein absorption?
Arts137 replied to NewSetOfCurves's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Well I want to know as well. I am Very Impressed with your regimine, and no matter what protein you add, keep it up and you'll do well. My NUT suggested UNJURY products (even over Optifast), so I stay there. Keep up the super plan!!! -
How long was your pre-op diet?
Arts137 replied to need2bthin!'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Have to get OPTIFAST from a doctor, but you can check our UNJURY, which my NUT suggested. Can get only from the website, but they ship fast and I like all the flavors. -
