    When does

From the different posts it may take a while. Some suggest to make sure you take in at least 20Gm of carbos to avoid ketosis. Others say Drink Water Constantly. Most say it (eventually) gets better. I use listerine strips, but really nothing helps much. And then (just for fun) we all get to 'pass gas' a lot as well... The things we do for fat!!!

    June surgery dates

I packed lite but needed even less. What I used. A robe for floor walks, to cover my nekkid behind. And slippers. My iPOD, I listened to hours & hours of music My phone so that wife & I could stay in touch What I DID NOT use. Laptop, extra clothes, even undies... They wanted us all au-naturale. Took a long time for me to pee. Was very 'dry'. They finally gave me so much fluid by IV that I started... DID NOT have a BM for 5 days, and when the 'damn broke' had 1 & 1/2 days of watery diarrhea. That was no fun. NOW, a week and a day after surgery, Never had ANY nausea or vomiting. Discomfort long gone. Still very tired and nap 1 or 2 times a day. Can get in all liquids, can get in most of proteins. HAVE NOT lost weight and was told not to expect to in the first week or so. I ain't worried! Follow the program and the weight will slide off!
  6. Well, I bet a lot of us here look forward to the day when someone says "You are too thin".

    Calcium Suggestions?

Another vote for unjury. All their stuff for Bariatric patients are chewable. AND they ship FAST!

    Pre-Op Caffeine Question

A big reason is to understand that following your plan is important by itself... Don't try to find "personal exceptions" because in the end we have a poor track record on obesity! Now I LOVE coffee, but I followed the rules, weaned byself off to decaf and NEVER had the dreaded headaches. I'll stay with decaf till I get the NUT approval to add it in and it's OK if it's 6 months!

    6 Months 122 pounds

    well done!
  12. Good, I am in the first week and am very tired. No nausea and little discomfort, but a lot of diarrhea... so thanks for the encouraging words!

    Energy Level

I am within the first week and am tired. But little discoimfort and no nausea, so naps sound fine to me...

    Counting fluids

I tally by 4 oz drinks... And I count protein shakes (cause that's what my NUT said). Funny how different they all are...

Need buddies - Philly Pa/ Jersey

Had surgery Tuesday and this is my first day home. All in all feeling AOK. Will keep fingers crossed.
  19. Sleeved 6-4. Two day hospitalization surrounded by NICE folks with lots of experience in bariatrics. I am a lucky one, no nausea at all. Some discomfort and will continue to take pain Rx. Working to get fluids and proteins up in the next 2 weeks. All in all doing well!
  20. Great comment! I worry if someone starts down the "can I find a way around this rule" so early in the process.

    2nd day of post op

Am also day two and I have discomfort, but not pain so far. Feeling lucky!!
  22. One of the FEW things that every program appears to agree on! Food without liquid makes you feel full longer, and feeling full is important!
  23. OK, I did not expect problems. Neither did I expect a bed of rose. But I gotta tell you, this has been great. Little discomfort, no nausea. Super staff. I am slow in starting to pee, but not uncomfortable. Had a surprise hiatal hernia which was simultaneously repaired. Leak test this AM. Pain Rx under my control. A fine day of surgery!!

    Preop tests

I know it's frustrating. You should get into the cardio soon, and be glad you did not have some of the other stuff some of us have had to do, like pulmonologist, PFS and asthma testing, sleep study, and on and on and on...

    Surgery coming up
