Well you are free to eat anything you want, BUT make it protein first, then fruits and veggies, and then, if you have any room, carbs (even complex ones). "Anything" includes a buncha stuff that you want to still avoid to lose weight, IMHO.

EEK! Use HOT (under 140 degrees) Water for the chicken (for a brothy thing). Not for shake (cold), at least not for me.

VSG long-term results study has positive results

Well done, you!

Federal BCBS (standard) Good or Bad experiences?
Arts137 replied to PuffyOne2014's topic in Insurance & Financing
Yes, no problems, but my BMI was over 50. At 35 do you have any co-morbidities? And you'll need to document (via your MD) weight loss attempts over the last year, and do all the preps (which takes about 6 months). -
Well, I don't understand the logic, but maybe 'pattern-interruptus' works. Also a LOT of commercials on the east coast for something you swallow that swells up in your stomach so "you literally can't eat". Imagine what THAT would do to our sleeve -- EEK!!!

Please HELP!
Arts137 replied to Jessica Fountain Peterson's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Please let us know how this progresses. This sounds so unusual that the MDs are the best sources of info. Laura, I did not think of GERD... so DID they do a scope?? -
We love you. That said, your post appears to be a request for permission to cheat. Not trying to be mean... Just sayin' Mine was 2 weeks, it was hard... soooper hard but got better after 3/4 days and by the time of surgery I felt I could do it forever! You are right, some don't have MDs that do it this way. But I did and you do. Try to hold on. If you do -- the BEST thing you'll get is the knowledge that for 2 weeks You controlled food, not the other way around. Sending you good thoughts and power vibes...

Stress eater, and my job on its Best day is stress filled. On its worst day, I'm explaining to Congress. And as for heritage, I'm Husky. At least that's where my mom had to buy me clothes from Sears.

When you are released for "full", in my program 2 months. When you try new things, try them one at a time so that (if something does not agree with you) you'll know what to back away from for a few weeks!

Surgery Aug 15 and New Job Sept 3, Can it be done?
Arts137 replied to becksnky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll be tired, so you migh do little but work eat and sleep for a bit after the job starts... -
Give us more detail... what kind of sick? Where are you in the program, what's your favorite color, that kind of thing.

I have my Psychiatric appointment in 2 weeks and never been to one before
Arts137 replied to mommyof6's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
HA! This is bad, bad bad. Listen, I had to get Top Secret clearance for my job, and I honestly told them that I was in college from '67 to '71 -- and I inhaled! No problem, coffee is the only drug I got left. I mean I have reformed but I NEVER repented! -
Oh, and there are other options for stool softening... Switch! AND drining gets normal (for me). By the first month I was drinking (not chugging) normally...

Sydey is right. Listen, this emotional stuff is COMMON after the surgery. A bunch or hormones are not being produced and a bunch more are in overdrive. This is why (for those on psyc med, like me and an antidepressent) you DO NOT stop right before or after surgery! Get in the liquids (and 25 oz ain't bad) (as a start). Shoot eat the danged popsicles -- better than dehydration. Work on the Protein, it's important but NOT critical for the first few weeks. For goodness sakes NAP, I napped every day... boy I love naps, hmmm think I'll take a nap soon..... Weight??? I gained significant weight in surgery week, and my doc said to expect it. Took 3 weeks to "break even". Relax, the stomach is not going to grow back, so you have the rest of your life to lose weight. Take care of yourself and your family. Recover from surgery, Relax and smell the flowers, and keep talking to us, sweetie...

Will I ever sleepnon my stomach again?
Arts137 replied to flyme_places's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
No, I never have been able to sleep on my stomach after the surgery. The GOOD NEWS is I never did before surgery either. Sorry, I just HAD to... Within a week I slept normally (for me rotating between back and sides) Try your tummy, you won't hurt the sleeve! -

2x4 said it all. And if you think you are a little bit crazy, you are probably fine... -
No, not normal. Discuss with the team ASAP. Dehydration is BAD juju...

I am a too-fast eater. And it is HARD to change. I did get baby spoons (really... I look SO cute) and it does help some.
-
so... how the heck did I miss this thread??? Am an addict. As long as I stay away from food, I'm OK. 'Course I see a problem with that approach... But I'll work on it. BEST POST is about bringing doughnuts to OA and being kicked out. Almost as cool as bringing bloody mary's to AA.

hiccups ain't much fun! Had them for weeks after gall bladder removal in the bad old (pre-laproscopic) days. hiccups are not terribly uncommon after surgery or anesthesia. They usually go away. Can also get hiccups with a too-full stomach. Many here use a huccup as a 'stop notice' for meals...

If not a coordinator, well at least very good tequila...

nothing is set in stone.. we can always evaluate our progress and update our goals depending on how we feel.. Amen

Mashed potatoes were fine (on my program) at this stage. But I was told to avoid rice since it could swell in the sleeve...
-
ummm, a lot is relationship -- does it feel right to you. Then I'd suggest asking how many sleeves do you do every month? The sleeve is not a complicated procedure, but it's alo not a joint replacement... so I wanted by surgeon to know a spleen from synovial fluid...
