Is it normal for weight loss to slow after several months?
Arts137 replied to Shoota's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Bella, you know that it's soooooo very complicated. You're doing the right things, after your hormones, cycle, and fate settle down, the FAT pounds will go away! -
Is it normal for weight loss to slow after several months?
Arts137 replied to Shoota's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone loses differently, friend. I am only 2 months out and average 1.5 to 2 pound losses only. I am sure that you will get some more creative ideas, but a loss is a loss, so hurrah! -
How common is strictures and scar tissue with gastric sleeve?
Arts137 replied to spangebabe's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Yes, very rare... but very rare things happen. However, from what I've read the chances for complications diminish with time and by 6 months you are back to baseline and should expect no additional complications... -
1 week and significant muscle loss !
Arts137 replied to TheDue's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use the chewable multi & calcium from UnJury. I also use their shakes. Every program is different, but generally it seems to be liquids first with a close second being protein. -
How many incisions did your surgeon make?
Arts137 replied to ScottsGirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I've 5 or 6 that you can't see anymore (2 months out). The 'glue' just causes clotting... not a prob for me. -
Grappling with the changes in perception, also known as, Damned if you do/Damned if you don't. :(

Globe, Don't let an idiot crush you. You look marvelous. Period. And I got here in the powder Room because I look at recent posts, sorry... -
How important is it to eat
Arts137 replied to angry's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You can eat too much. Starvation IS a word. Get the protein in, you need that to heal. You can delay on the others. -
WOW, well done, pal... well done. You got your head right and will be a winner (a loser!!!) We CAN have fun without 90% of the fun being food and drink! I was just in NYC this weekend for "Kinky Boots" (and see it when you can) and was in a group of 4 and stuck with the plan. And I had fun!!! You should (IMHO) cross-post this on the main board in pre-surgical!!!!!

What is your weight? Still focused on proteins first? Still drinking a LOT of liquids???
-
I was tired after surgery, and enjoyed my naps. But I've not heard that protein causes fatigue unless you have some sort of intolerance. I've just done a quick google, and found nothing to suggest it???

Pre-Op Diet and Worries About Being Thinner
Arts137 commented on joatsaint's blog entry in Gastric Sleeve Surgery - An Unexpected Journey
But I guess it plays on my basic fear of change. How am I going to handle being thinner and how people will react and treat me at work and socially. As it is, I have 40 years of knowing how people treat the fat me. Now, I have to worry about how people will treat me as a thin person. Yep... the big isasue is our head(s). Know and work on this and all will be OK, I believe (and I am as crazy as you are). -
why do people hide it?
Arts137 replied to KayCTheNewMe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Everyone is different. In this I think everyone can be right -- to tell or not to tell is a personal choice! -
hmmmm, I suppose you can do this, or OTC solutions, but do check with the MD when you can

No weight loss with sleeve?!
Arts137 replied to keke's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But see ALL the "well can I cheat here, or there, or yonder?" threads... You will lose weight if you follow your program. Period. BUT using Laura's phrase, you've gotta "get your head in the game", follow your program, and realize that you will need to approach food and activity differently. If you do you WILL lose the weight and be able to keep it off... -
YEP! There's a reason for this. Eating fills you up, and the 'full feeling' especially after the sleeve, causes a satiety response and makes you not hungry. liquid with the meal makes the food pass out of the stomach too quickly. This is one rule you want to follow, IMHO!!!
-
generally seen as an eating disorder... don't wanna make it a habit.
-
But, why shouldn't she feel bad? And why shouldn't you? Trust me, after surgery you will need to change your eating OR (1) you won't feel good, OR (2) you'll "beat the sleeve" and regain all the weight. The sleeve is not magical. It's all you, and especially your head. Good Luck!!!

Throw the scale away (at least some). The scale is a lyin' dog.
-
I was 423 at biggest, now under 350 (2 months out). Protein about 100 gm/day and Kcals about 1,200. Slow and steady wins the race.
-
Hmmmm, I had a "surprise" hiatal hernia found (and repaired) during sleeve surgery. What am I missing here???

What is the drain peeps keep talking about?
Arts137 replied to Olivia2233's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drain after surgery, ... to drain blood, goo & stuff. Good early indicator of problems. Usually 'pulled' before you go home from hospital. Sometimes left in till the surgical follow-up visit. Sometimes not used at all! -
scroll to the bottom of the home page and see the block marked "affiliates". Bob's Your Uncle!

antibiotic won't help, it's a virus. Talk to your primary MD, there are Rx out there, I believe!
