does it never just not work?
Arts137 replied to sclark's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Chic, I'm with you 100%. My surgeon said that he can give me a small stomach, but I still need to do the work... that I can defeat the sleeve if I want. I doubt if M&Ms will ever be on my plan... -
Almost 7 months post op
Arts137 replied to skinnygirlinside's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Geepers! Two very different points. ONE, 9 pounds a month is an amazing result. Might be good to rejoice in your success!. TWO, perception is all yours. And we all seem to struggle. I've lost 80 pounds and yet I seem the same fat guy in my head. My head does NOT equal reality! -
I had my iPOD in continuously and that (plus the pain medication) was a big help. My pain was quite bearable.

Some argue that the sleeve won't cause dumping syndrome (like bypass does), but a rose by any other name... In any case, the need to go right after eating DOES happen with some. If you have ID'd the 'culprit' food, avoid it for a month or two and carefully try again. Generally sugars are the culprit in dumping sysdrome, and they are things to avoid for many reasons...

I am 12 weeks out. I have gone to the beach with family and to NYC for a long weekend. Had a blast, and did not drink or eat exactly the same as the family. If I could give you a hint. Go, have FUN and don't make eating and drinking the focus!

Your NUT will guide you! -
I was really tired for at least a month post surgery. Take care of yourself, you'll get there. So start with 10 and slowly work up. PS, naps are NICE.

when you stopped your PPI
Arts137 replied to Momonanomo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Work with your primary care physician. Long term PPI must be managed, and likely you will want to augment with Calcium and Vit D... Lot's of folks take PPI for a long time... -
STOP it Jeannie! You are losing as fast as you can. Darlin', this is forever. There is no rush, you are doing Great! And your MD will tell you, but MOST of the time it's 'as soon as you want'.

A while after the sleeve. Let your stomach heal before you try too many 'nuts and seeds and stems'. For me, I still need to avoid most carbs -- and all simple carbs. I get 'rebound hunger' that I don't need or want to deal with.

You'll do great. You will be in the hands of pros! RELAX and enjoy the ride! They will tell you what you need to do in YOUR program. You might consider the Big Book of the Gastric Sleeve as a helper. HAVE FUN (yes, I said fun). Take your pain meds :-) AND walk, walk, walk.

Thanks Laura, I'll consider this for my arsenal when I am a vet...

Hmmm, a lot of the non-whey protein isn't as good so I am told. Maybe try others, most high end suppliers have sample packs. I use Unjury.

Live support groups vs. virtual support groups
Arts137 replied to disneyteach's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can't get to a live group (I am in bed when they start). After reading this thread, I am glad! -
I am on for the month before and a minimum of 6 months! I also take calcium every day.
-
Does this help you with getting your mind in control? Do you still drink H2O?
-
Great thread, y'all...
-
Yes, normal... Don't 'fiddle with it' keep changing any cover/dressing and it will heal over and be gone!

Loverly!!!

Sleeved on August 15th
Arts137 replied to yvonne1208's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try differnt temperatures of liquid. It sounds strange but some do better with lukewarm or warm??!! -
EXACTLY... I have no idea what hunger is/. In the "old days" I just ate... continuously. Now I just follow the plan and tell mt brain "skippy" to go away...
-
Some throw up, some don't. Don't use throwing up as "the" measure of overeating. We all have differnt clues that we are full, but --don't drink liquids with meals, and -- take your time eating, and -- stop when you get "the clue". My clue (and I am not making this up) is a runny nose.

"NSV" is a "non scale victory", like a complement, or seeing yourself in the mirror or (and I can't wait) crossing your legs...

Ohhh, I think I love you. With your 'tude, you'll fit right in here. If I lose weight, I might be "here" longer (as in alive).
