can I ask a dumb question - calorie max?
Arts137 replied to neal2012's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Focus on Proteins first, fruits and veggies second. As for calories, depending on activity, from 1,200 to 1,500 a day for a guy... -
My program says no coffee... and I cut down to zero slowly. I am now three months out and I do drink coffee (1/2 caff, 1/2 decaff). Oh well...

Depression setting in.
Arts137 replied to nurseinSD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This too shall pass. I am on an antidepressant, and I have no qualms with my need for it! -

well, your face looks the same??? -
HAHAHA! And don't start a thread about 'cher willie getting bigger...
-
Whatever gets you through the night, is alright, is alright!!!
-
Me too. I was continually amazed at how one appointment would lead to two more. Them doctors must ALL be buying a new boat!!! In any case, you will have an IMPORTANT medical baseline, and it WILL pass. Hand tough!
-
Yes, I was very tired after surgery and napped every day! Be nice to yourself, all will be well!
-
Welcome, little friend. Keep the faith and see you on the Sleeved Side!
-
Started at 55, but have lost about 80#. Still have a long way to go. Glad you are here...

New to these parts but looking forward to being involved

Jesse, ol buddy WELCOME. There are loys of places to explore on the site, and some rate/review MDs. Whatever you do, go with a "Bariatric Center of Excellence" and select a surgeon that does a LOT of sleeves. You might even have one in Martinsburg, but most certainly in Pittsburgh. As your questions any time. And I am a die hard Hokie, so there MAY be some weeks that we should not talk to each other :-) -
Even doctors have a story to tell
Arts137 replied to lark60's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Wecome doc, I hope you stick around, this is a good community. Everyone, EVERYONE stalls. Mostly the answer is to play through it. From a lot of posts here a common answer is (ironically) too few calories, causing the 'ol metabolism to shut down since you are starving yourself. Generally a 1000 kCal diet is low enough to get the job done over time. Get your Water in... 100 Oz/day is not too much. How is your activity? -
Yes. Please do not be shy. Talk to your MD, they have an Rx to help you through.

Bananas ....food that shouldnt hurt!
Arts137 replied to kailie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
We are all strange aren't we. The Only day I was STARVING all day was the day I ate a bananna... If you like 'em, wait a month and try again! Things change. -
Newbie, Journey has JUST begun...
Arts137 replied to Metamorphosis ????'s topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome, welcome and Welcome! You and Mom are among friends here... One hint... You WILL lose weight, as fast as your body can if you follow your program. But that said, you do NOT know how fast you will lose, so You said "Goal: 140lbs, by December 2014" You might lose faster AND you might lose slower. Don't add the pressure of a 'date certain', you are in this for the rest of your life! -
3 weeks out, sharp pain
Arts137 replied to A_New_Lily's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Likely just random... If it stays for a week, or gets worse or you get a fever, call the doc! -
Getting through a stall (per Caspanelli)
Arts137 replied to WeeWers's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I am 63 and have a bum knee. The weight WILL come off, but only as fast as it can! Please don't give up, just keep pushing through. -
Check out other products, you can usually get sample packs. AND you can also use those no-cal flavorings (like Milo, but there are a bunch... I like wild cherry and tangerine-orange...

Keeping surgery a secret...?
Arts137 replied to SaraLou's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
IMHO, if you tell one person, you've told the world. Good luck. I made it no secret because facts are the ONLY response to gossip, and I hate being the subject of gossip! -
Dis ain't right. See that MD of yours!
-
I can't top dehydrated or preggo!
-
Umm, I hope I'm not in the Powder Room, but oh well. Listen talk to the team. You DO NOT want to get preggo right after the sleeve since you will be losing so much weight...
-
take it. you can crush it if needed
-
That phrase is just "CYA". Don't worry, you will lose IF you follow the program...
