sigh. I eat fast as well... Nothing I do seems to work. I still eat (at home) with a baby spoon, for goodness sake.

Different pre-op diet and gas pain
Arts137 replied to akusah's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Likely not. Remember the "gas pain" is from the gas 'pumped' into your abdominal cavery to give the surgeon more roon to work around in there. Nothing to do with gas or anything else WITHIN the GI tract! -
Yep, your weights will be variable for a bit, but will 'trend down'. Also remember that your cycle is another issue that will have an impact on water weight.

Pre op diet and feeling nauseous
Arts137 replied to Melissa1234's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Switch to sips. Call the surgeon and ask if you can take any anti-nausea preparations. And best of luck! -
I'm thinking of going for the Bypass instead
Arts137 replied to Mid West's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You are doing the right thing by researching! I am sure you will come to the right answer for yourself! -
New Here! Have Multiple Autoimmune Issues!
Arts137 replied to cloud's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Cloud, Welcome! This is real complicated. You are fighting a number of battles! And best hopes and luck to you!! I do know that some posters have some auto-immune issues, but the rest of us might be nervous about any advice since everything in our bodies are SO interconnected! In any case, wander around, and if we can help, Please Ask! -
As you keep checking in with your NUT, proteins will eventually come down. Did your NUT share an eating plan with you?

Scars after surgery
Arts137 replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You'll be fine. It takes a while to heal, but heal they will. You can shower, just don't "scrub". -
Getting my Surgery Oct 3rd Getting Nervous..1 day clear liquid diet!
Arts137 replied to Lorraine22383's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Because surgeon's have their favorite ways of doing things. I was on Optifast for two weeks, but on only clear liquids for the day before, and NPO after midnight of surgery day. -
Pain in both legs, about five to seven fingers under hips.
Arts137 replied to jssybravo's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pay attention to any leg main (especially calf pain, though). If you get a fever, or legs are hot, or the pain continues, see your MD to rule out a potential clot. Unsure about your symptoms, though??? -
All OK if you get back on track. And you don't need a laxative, "all things shall pass".
-
Well said my friend. The sleeve will work, but as your title suggests, you may be skinny, but you might stay 'fat' in your mind. We all work on that part as well...

Hitting a stall one week after sugery
Arts137 replied to laurasjourney's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This early you are just "healing" from major surgery, AND they gave you LOTS of liquids via IV in the hospital. No stall... but wait, we ALL get 'em. -
Tell us more about where in the process you are, but the above are helpful, right. Remember the "order": liquids, then protein, then other stuff.

Down 62 pounds in 2 months and 2 weeks including pre op but......
Arts137 replied to lagoveride's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Ummm, the sleeve does not fix our brains and our minds, and we ALL need fixing them... I certainly do! Bottom line, do not give up or let your brain (my evil brain is "Skippy") convince you to slack off... and also consider counseling. This is not easy and it is forever. (So what if it takes "forever" to lose weight. You have the rest of your life, right?) Hang in there, you sound like me, only I was fatter and am Older. (not wiser, though) -
Where do you learn/find all the info?
Arts137 replied to Derbymama21's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The Big Book of the Gastic Sleeve (Authored by this site's founder) is a dang good place to start. Has ALL the info you need to start. Then research on line. You'll find Guide Sheets and instructions from many good programs (Try Johns Hopkins Bariatric center), and HERE. What you get here will be varied advice. You'll build your plan based on your experience! -

Suggestion on reaching goal
Arts137 replied to db4lyfe's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Goals are great as long as they do not make you either (1) crazy, or (2) give up. So shoot for them, but know that it's OK if you are just a bit off! AND KEEP GOING! -
odd gnawing feeling within the hour after eating.
Arts137 replied to sheri_cummings's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Seems logical. -
You are describing Sleep apnea. Add snoring and you'll have the trifecta. I was sure I did NOT have apnea, and in the study I had a severe level. Go figure. PS, The CPAP machine is great and I get a good night's sleep every night!

Leg and foot swelling?
Arts137 replied to ttyler1029's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hmmmm, Pay attention. If your legs get hot, if you run a fever, if the pain gets worse, or if you are concerned after 3 or 4 days (even without the above), call your surgeon. In the worst case scenerio I worry about a clot... -
you can mix 'em if you wish.

odd gnawing feeling within the hour after eating.
Arts137 replied to sheri_cummings's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Hmmmm, did you ever see the movie "Alien"??? Bwa ha ha, sorry, I just had to. Might be hunger, but if so, it'll be manageable by eating and drinking on a schedule. Tell us, is it bearable? Can you ignore it? Is it a longing for any particular food? -
Got My Surgery Date: 10/22/13 (Now I'm shaking in my boots!)
Arts137 replied to Trebor's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had little discomfort and NO catheter... And I bet your wife will be approved on appeal. Press forward! -
Amusement park, not so amusing to me when it comes to the food!
Arts137 replied to kim2002's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Of course you will be tempted. ANY of us would be. But you have lots of good ideas above (and) being tempted does not mean you need to give into temptation! Enjoy the amusement part for the amusements, and bring your own food alternatives.
