Well if it was the worst, it's gonna get better now, right???
-
Has it really come to this?
Arts137 replied to Heartonsleeve's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Good. You are thinking, and thinking is a part of the research process. Do not have surgery unless you are sure. At 336# you have or will have significant health issues with obesity. Hard to avoid the arthritis, diabetes, hypertension, cancer relationships that come with obesity... not to mention all the societal and functional limitations related to being fat. BUT without a doubt, if you can lose weight and keep it off without surgery, DO IT!!! I could not. It is neither easy nor automatic after surgery, each of us is entirely responsible to heal, and follow the program, but in my case so far so good. -
Come on folks. On this board wadda we got??? We got the Irish potato Famine!

2 weeks post op and issues with real food

Yes, it should improve. Some of the Sx might be from an irritation of the vagus nerve??? -
and if you know it's GERD, are you on a PPI (Rx)?

Cravings (and folks are different in what they crave) is not uncommon! Just on general principles, I say "If I crave, I don't want". It's like ANY food or restaurant commercial on TV... If on TV, it's OFF my plan! Trying to beat my evil craving brain into submission!
-
hmmm, I wasn't ready for this at 3 weeks, but since I don't like scary stuff, I ain't ready for this now either...

10 weeks out and don't feel like eating...
Arts137 replied to karpouzian's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Strangely, maybe this (in part) how "normal people" are? In any case, I plan my meals pretty closely and work HARD to eat to live rather than live to eat. Start with things similar to yogurt like cottage cheest, and work to tuna, canned chicken, canned ham. Just plan it and eat it whether you 'crave' it or not... and best of luck on this journey!!! -
Unjury for me!
-
Arrrrgh, matey! At least they can cure this!

A good summary... http://www.myweightlosssurgeryblog.com/2011/06/27/why-a-runny-nose-and-sneezing-may-signal-overeating/

Today starts my liquid diet
Arts137 replied to jennietop's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first few days are hard as you "detox" Some can make it easier by cutting down on smoking, caffine, carbonation a long time before... AND REMEMBER, the evil part of your brain will do ANYTHING she can to get you to quit. Don't let her win! First, control is important at this time and right after surgery AND you are reducing the size of your liver and helping your surgeon have a successful operation!!! -
Stressed out scared and crying a lot help me please
Arts137 replied to FrankieP83's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You ARE going to be fine! The good news is that the 'biggest" time for leaks or strictures is right after surgery, and there are few complications more than 6 or 8 weeks out! Rampant emotions are really common as well... just know that you are normal and doing well! -
Hahaha, welcome to a 'downside' of normal!!!
-
As hard as it is, just stay with the program, without stress if possible (I am a stress eater). Consider the 5:2 plan, many pros swear by it... OR just go back to liquids only for a week or two to clean out the system and start anew. You WILL succed, and you have done GREAT so far!!!

In the first week (as soon as on puréed)

Do I have to keep a food diary?
Arts137 replied to Ree's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I keep one. It keeps me honest. I do suggest doing this! -
Laura, so you have "war wounds". The belly and hips are cute, so a good trade IMHO!
-
Yep, was told to avoid and I do. Just an acceptable trade off ...

Feeling like a failure (vent)
Arts137 replied to ria90's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Little friend, I do feel your frustration and pain. You have lost 70 pounds, and that is a fine start! Maybe make October 15th your "new" surgical date and do a restart. Go to a 2 week liquid fast and then soft foods. During this time set a daily meal plan. Be strict. Also try to see what is causing your GI distress, it is likely a food or food combination. Lastly, it is OK to talk with a therapist... We all have issues related to our brain and food. Good luck and please do not give up! -
November surgery... Hopefully

Arts137 replied to NeuroSurgNurse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was BM 'free' for 5 days after surgery followed by 2 days of diahrrea, followed by all OK. "This too shall pass". -
Yep, but I hope to buy a few moew years of health. I don't think that much of anything is gonna make me pretty!
