    Ok tmi but bowel movements

I did not have a BM for 5 or so days, followed by 2 days of diarrhea, followed by regular ever since. "This too shall pass"
  2. if the insurance is approved (I have federal BC/BS as well) it means that you only need to satisfy the surgeon's prep requirements! You are good to go!

    terrible pain

every day it will get a little better. Take any pain Rx you have been given and know that it'll be a little bit better every day. Please don't be afraid to call your surgeon though, I mean you did pay him/her a bunch of money! Work on getting liquids in and as you do, then focus on Protein.
  4. seems normal (for you!). Just follow your program. Trust me, you'll know if you overeat... no fun indeed.

Something interesting about all the profile pics

First thing you do is shave...

    Bubbles

might be your own 'stop eating' sign. Some get a couple small burps, some hiccup. Me, I get a runny nose. Ain't this fun!!!
  7. I sure was. I love and use the CPAP, so am in no rush to stop (and I am down 100# from my highest weight).

    Support person

This Board can support you. Also, check out the support groups WITHIN THE BOARD for some closer to wherever you live. Sorry about the Ex, We are not all a$$es
  9. The easy way is to do what GameGirl and Susie suggest. The hard way is to overeat, get pain, nausea, the slimies and vomit. (and most of us do this at least once... I did and "never again" I say, never... that was three hours of NO FUN).
  10. Sassy, I thought that I would not be hungrey either (Google "Ghrelin") and was warned that this is not always the case.. I am 4 months out and from early on I would get hungry, but I am strict and regular about the plan and a little Water or food does fill me up. As to the thread, Soonerorlater, reseach and make sure you are ready for a change. Surgery does not allow you to call "take back". 80+% of your stomach is gone forever. And yes you can eat anything, but some folks DO regain all the weight by failing to keep their head in the game. If you want to lose weight and keep it off, this is a good process. But it will take work and committment. Best of luck!!!

    Why the pre-op diet?

hehehe, generally plans are set by the surgeon and you'll find that some plans have shorter pre-op "fasts", and some none. BUT, the general reason is to shrink the liver, even if the liver's already been shrunk. Might as well. You might still want to eat after surgery anyway...

    Multi Vitamins

For first 3 months I was advised to avoid pills larger than tic-tacs, but I had no problems with any pills. I use Unjury vitamines, and they are all chewable!

    no loss?

I gained 10 pounds in the hospital. My MD warned me (it was all Water weight). In two weeks I had just barely returned to pre-surgical weight. BUT, since then I lose slowly but consistantly! Don't expect a sprint. Expect a long slow process (This is forever, remember -- your stomach will not grow back).

    I have to ask...

We are all different, my experience was easy, so I need to pay attention to amounts (and expect to do so forever). All I can advise is go, enjoy and maybe Soup today! I suggest that a restaurant is NOT the place to try new things... you don't want any surprises there!!! Practice at home.
  15. This a decision that you must make after research and reflection. Here you are surrounded by a lot of folks who do believe that the sleeve will or is or has worked! Good luck, and we are with you!
  16. Get the drift? Everyone has a similar story! Don't give up, keep with your program and all will be right in he end.

    Weight Loss

I average 1 to 2 pounds a week, and to me that's fine. "Every drop makes the tide rise"

    Any food addicts here?

Me too. One simple carb is too many and one simple carb is never enough.

    Any food addicts here?

Oh good gracious, who here ISN'T a food addict? Seriously? I see so many heartfelt pleas saying "I miss food, why oh why can't I be normal?" when in fact normal people don't put food at the top of every activity and as the most important thing to focus on each and every day. It's hard, very hard, but "Hi, I am Art, and I am addicted to food"
  20. We are with you. AND all will work out for the best in the end. If it is not the best, it ain't the end.

    Worried

I agree with Buffle. I have never had ANY problem drinking normally. "Water goes right through". BUT, when you try it with food (and everyone does -- I did, ONCE), expect a RUDE awakening with various combinations of nausea, the Slimies, vomiting, and discomfort. Don't worry that it is physically easy. Focus on the 'fat brain' that is where our REAL work is, and there is no sleeve for the fat brain!

    Age and surgery

63 years old here. And to clarify, I am old but not very mature!
  24. You have a new stomach that will help. Add the "head work" that you will do to change your eating and activity behavior and ALL WILL BE FINE in the end!
