Young and getting sleeved!
Arts137 replied to believexrebecca's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hey Rebecca, I can be your sleeve grandpa! Just follow your program! -
My friend, I am sorry. If possible, the best reaction is no reaction at all. If I can share a good Quaker quote: “The jealous are troublesome to others, but a torment to themselves”

Great post. Keep it up! The BEST 'cure' for dehydration is to dring a LOT of liquids. Try the "squirt" flavorings. Try it warm... but get it in. I fully believe that you NEED the liquids to lose weight, so make that an extra inducement! This might help: http://www.caloriesperhour.com/tutorial_water.php

Today is the deadline for an answer by insurance

Umm, sometime Insurance Companies are late. Best of luck, and you WILL be approved in the end! -
Any food addicts here?
Arts137 replied to EarthyGoalie's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Laura, I rarely attempt to correct you. This time I will. We are not in it for the long haul. (now that I have your attention). We are in this for farkin ever. We are not "normal" and it takes thinking and planning and making choices each and every day to act normal enough to lose the weight and keep the weight off. There is another HOT thread with hurt feelings. They should all read THIS thread and discover why. When "Stoopid" things get said that folks WANT to believe, but ain't necessarily so, it can drive a lot of us mad. I work in a BIG office complex. I know a LOT of folks that have had WLS... and too many of them sure are fat. What's the reason? In the main two things, believing that: -- I can eat and drink anything I want, -- I do not think their plan made sense, so I didn't follow it... Every day I plan. I do it every day. No vacations. I am a junkie surrounded by junk. (Hell, I have a wine cellar with hundreds of bottles of very nice wines), and I still avoid junk. I do not drink, and when I do, the three bottle nights must be over. Because I Can eat and drink ANYTHING I want... I just can't stop. I am a food addict. -
this may start a riot.

On The Verge Of Mental Collapse
Arts137 replied to MouseOnTheMile's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stop weighing yourself if you can. It seems to be making you long for a lobotomy. And yes you certainly lose on a liquid fast, but the scale is designed by a mad scientist to increase his lobotomy business. Just follow the program, and all will work out. Oh if your scale needs batteries, try a change... I think I'll have a lobotomy too. -
Drinking before and after eating?

it will become easy, if you let it!!! -
Frustrated with the stall
Arts137 replied to SuperKen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know it is frustrating, but this will pass. Focus on those liquids!!! -
What I thought were gas pains turned out to be major blood clots.

glad you are a fighter and still with us!!! -
Addict. And it's all on me. I cook. Folks can have any treats they want. I can't. I can't have anything except what I plan to have. Period. I will never be the 'well I have a little of whatever I want' guy. I enjoy parties and restaurants, I just focus on the people and not the food. I don't have time to feel sorry for myself, but I'd like to. I just ate, and ate, and ate some more. All the time, anytime. Can't do that no more...

Never? ever??? We all have those, I think. Mine was Slo Gin and Coke..... Nasssssssty. I do like good wine and have a wine cellar... but no wine till T'Giving, and then it will remain a rare pleasure...

Olive/darker skinned men/women and scarring from surgery

Any excuse to look at Laura's belly again! Thanks!! -
Yes, all my codes said gastric bypass, but it all worked out fine. Don't worry, have a great weekend and just call 'em Monday. :-)

I can't tell if this is in the "lady" forum, but boys have something similar. Reduced fat means more out there to get pinched or sat on.
-
HA! Nope, I seem to have lost most of my sense of smell (unrelated to WLS)... Think I'd rather have my affliction... helps with temptations...
-
It's not uncommon. I set a daily schedule and followed it. Hungry or not!

Pros and cons six and a half weeks after surgery

Yep, sounds like me (am 5 months out). And the pros FAR outweigh the cons. -

Being a Quaker makes me desire consensus. A laudable goal, though not often reached. I feel that we can all find the helpfulness in each person's struggle, though some may wish to be more gentle with the advice shared, and some may wish to look past the first impression to the helpfulness within. Whoever we are in this battle, we are in this battle. And we are stronger together than we are apart. Back to the thread: ... You must be aware that it is very common to substitute an addiction to alcohol for an addiction to food ... You are out of control and can regain some to all of your weight. Lots do... They rarely post here though, being busy with finding the next snack ... There appears to be a consensus that you need therapeutic help. No sin, but suggested when needed. We are not professionals ... And IMHO, this is a passionate thread because your behavior scares each of us. "there but for the grace of God go I" -
Pretty sure I f***ed up the sleeve. No leak, but I might as well have never gotten it.

Ignore hate. Stay and share. We are better with diversity of opinion. No worries.

Is it possible to stall at 10 days out?
Arts137 replied to Bombs's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are) I gained 10 pounds while in the hospital and had not lost anything in the first 2 weeks. But it all worked out. -
1 month post op and kind of disappointed
Arts137 replied to mtodd1205's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Pleasse see the post from sleeved Pat! Looks familiar, I bet! I GAONED 10 mounds the week after surgery and had not lost any weight for the first two weeks. Relax and stay with your program! What I said to Pat: It happens to EVERYONE! Seach the "3 week stall". SUPER common as things heal and get 'organized'. This too shall pass (and you might want to skip weighing yourself every day... if you are) -
