I've done the research and from the research on the satiety response I'll stick with not drinking as taught. Show me the research, and if drinking helps control hungry, then ok...

3 month pre-op diet and bit scared
Arts137 replied to CupofJojo's topic in Pre-op Diets and Questions
Many good places that sell Protein powders have sample packs. I use (and still like) unjury. Little changes that you can make will add up to big results! Before surgery... Stop smoking, up your daily Water, up your activity (as you can) and eat on your plan (whatever that it) reduce caffine reduce carbonated drinks and have fun learning! -

I'm a food rebel... you? (rant)
Arts137 replied to ScottsGirl's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Yep, you might just do fine on this food plan... It ain't the way to bet, however... I have a close friend at work who was sleeved and could have written your post. Great results, great activity levels, great health benefits, for the first six months. Two years out she is proud to say "I can eat anything". She has gained back 2/3 of her losses. So follow your plan, but please don't be her. She remains a good object lesson for me. -
6 months doc diet.....start!
Arts137 replied to inmatchesout's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Again, my story. Like most I had a six month program before insurance approval. Like most I was pissed... "why am I wasting my time?" But somewhere early I 'gave up' and realized that this 'sleeve thing' means I have to change... not for a little while but forever'. I will need to think about more than "where's the food", "I like the food", "any snacks", 'oh I can get food with that'... And the classes were helpful... SO... maybe work towards the following goals: -- reduce caffine to zero before surgery -- reduce carbonation / carbonated drinks to zero before surgery -- have a daily mean plan, and follow it -- be as active as you can be -- reduce liquids with meals -- stop smoking!!! -- no eating after your evening meals Do what you can, and the above is not true for all, it's just what I did. And I lost 50# before surgery... almost by accident... (and 100# so far all together with another 100# to go). -
Help! My family ordered pizza and I'm on pre-op!
Arts137 replied to Kyrie's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Rule #1: Life is unfair. Rule #2: pizza are the Cosmos' cosmic joke for the Sleeve patient. Rule #3: Refer to rules 1 and 2. This will be the first of Many challenges that you will have. Maybe just think of it as 'them' catching up with all the extra stuff that we had before? In any case hard is hard. Hard is not imposible. And you WILL feel good tomorrow if you can hold out. You don't need no stinking guilt! And follow Lipsticks advice. A fine excuse to curse. -
I'm not following the program!
Arts137 replied to Camella's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Read your program materials back to front. Take notes, and then immediately commit to follow your program. Too many slips could lead to weight gain... -
How soon after surgery did you resume taking vitamins?
Arts137 replied to Italiancurves's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
Chewables, immediately. My program advised no pills larger than tic-tacs for 3 months, but i had no difficulty swallowing pills of any size after a month. -
I said, walking would be great (don't carry the clubs, putting would be fine, but unsure about those "full driving swings"
-
The walking would be great, the putting would be great. Not so sure about the drives, though. Then swings might "twinge" you!

Will drinking anything get better and how long
Arts137 replied to charmsmany's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I can drink normally (physically). And have been able to drink normally since the 3rd month. In terms of WHAT I drink, my plan says no alcohol for 6 months and no carbonation ever. At 5 months I am happy with crystal light and the squirt flavorings. I may have a glass of wine at Thanksgiving, but... "all the things that gave me a lil comfort and happiness I wont be able to do" I am working hard to make my family and friends to focus of social times, not food and drink. Unless I plan it, I don't do it. But then I am a junkie. -
two thumbs up!
-
whatcha got?
-
Only YOU can decide. If you are eating normally (not pathologically), have appropriate activity, etc. then your body will find a balance point. You can always go to an impartial NUT/center for a fat % analysis... PS, you look marvelous!

Stuck and Frustrated. ..
Arts137 replied to WildChickie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Don't be sorry for posting. Yes it happens to us all... and yes it's still a surprise when it happens to us! OK, just follow your program. Try not to weigh every day. Increase your Water... peeing clear every hour or 90 minutes actually helps. Remember this is NOT fat, this is (1) water weight -- and may be cycle related, and (2) healing after major surgery. There is ONE thing that you DO NOT do. You DO NOT give up. -
Hernia scars means I can't have the sleeve?
Arts137 replied to purplefaery's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had an "old fashioned" GB removal with a 15 inch "z" scar. The sleeve surgeon had to work around it and dissect some adhesions, but he done it anyway. If the first one says no, take all your records to a second group for another opinion! -
Egypt has a sophisticated and modern medical system. Just ensure that your surgeon and the practice specializes in bariatric surgery ...
