Nope, but be gentile for the first month... while you heal... Pregnancy has no sleeve impact BUT need to delay a while while you are actively losing weight. Please talk to your MDs!
-
Please work with your MD. It could be an ulver at the surgical line (a marginal ulcer -- at the margin of the surgery), but if feels like GB. BUT we ain't MDs, keep working with the docs to get an answer!!!

Food Glorious Food! Finally Made It To Solids. Tips?
Arts137 replied to Disabledaccount's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Like you, my "sign" is a runny nose I pretty much eat the same thing at the same time most days. I am trying to minimize foods importance. For me that includes working to not "long" for food or for any particular food. I would be happy to be bored by food. -
Story Of An Emotionally Battered Fat Girl
Arts137 replied to jdmama911's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
thank you for sharing, Mama... -
My highest weight was 423. BMI about 54 or so. At 5 months I am 320# with a BMI of 44. I lost a lot before surgery as well and I have a lot more to go. But what the heck, might as well... can't dance... :-)

Yessssss... Somehow the name Regina (that bitch) comes to mind... I will admit I really don't know why. "Skippy" is the name that is given (in our family) to the person who does ALL the unclaimed and unadmitted to bad things...

hang in there, friend! It will get better. There may be medical help for your nausea -- ask the MD. And there are a LOT of threads about the emotions that follow the sleeve... That is normal as well. Hang in there...

No More Protein Shakes/smoothies?
Arts137 replied to susan6161's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There are TWO issues here: I you can be "not hungry" with a liquid fast. I have done Optifast and it was the most UNHUNGRY I have ever been. To the nutrients do help keep the 'famished feelings' at bay, somewhat. BUT what it can't do is make your stomach stretch and invoke the saiety response. That is why folks push eating Dense Proteins. SO both are right, both can help. At 5 months I still use shakes, and probably will continue to do so, but I eat too and focus on proteins and then veggies... -
Check with your MD. NSAIDS are not approved (ever) in my program. NOT saying that's right or wrong, though... just a consideration...

Coffee Question.,,
Arts137 replied to DirtyHarriett's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tapered by increasing the decaf to 100% over time, then tapered all coffee to ZERO before surgery. After surgery, about week 2 I restarted coffee. Here's the deal, I now drink it black. And prefer it black. -
I like savory (not sweet) cottage cheese. I add unjury unflavored Protein powder and it DOUBLES the protein...

Mut husband's are usually male. And male's don't hear "I just want you around". As Lynda says - rock your sleeve and he'll follow if and when he can.

Medication And Weight Gain
Arts137 replied to jaysleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Good thought Jayson... Think of the Rx as another card in your "deck". You will need to work with your docs to balance everything, but this WON'T eliminate your ability to lose weight. -
Been Bad On Pre-Op Diet!
Arts137 replied to #hashTag#'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
Brooklyn Gal has given you great advice. Period. Love, but tough love. The sleeve will not be your solution unless you are willing to make big and basic changes. Not easy. Not easy at all... but not impossible either. Keep posting and tell us how you are doing. -
No, I get the check, I get the check... and Fluffnomore's got a Fat Brain, Fluffnomore's got a Fat Brain...

I love wine and have pretty extensive wine collection. That is gathering dust. My program is "no ETOH for 6 months". And I agreed. For the following reasons: Alcohol is not great for the recovering stomach Alcohol's empty calories Being tipsy empowers your Fat Brain to have a little of this and a little of that and ... Real possibility of 'addition transfer' from food to drink my Program told me to... (sigh, I do drink caffine) I will have wine again (soon), but I expect them two bottle nights be OVER!!! And yes, my lovely wife DOES still have wine in front of me. No biggie...

OK, I was Never a Water drinker, but after researching I have become a believer that it is important for health and weight loss. Some hints: If water hurts, try different temp water from hot to warm to room temp to cool to cold... you may find one that goes down easier. In the first month dehydration is an issue that CAN put you back in the hospital... In the first month have water with you all the time and sip water all the time... Drinking DOES get easier, and after 2 months I could drink normally (swallows, not guzzles) Peeing at night... Like clockwork I now get up to pee 2 or 3 times a night, but I go right back to sleep, and it's a small "price" to pay for the water...

This is dang frustrating and thanks for your honesty when you say: "I want to just go out and eat myself silly!" This is from your evil fat brain. My evil fat brain has a name... "Skippy". He is VERY sneaky and he never takes a nap, he never sleeps and he ALWAYS wants me to eat... AND I am 5+ months after the sleeve. SO you have learned that YOU have a fat brain too. And for the rest of your life you will "do battle" with your fat brain to lose the weight and keep it off!

Oh lipstick, life makes us lose so much valuable post time...

Been Bad On Pre-Op Diet!
Arts137 replied to #hashTag#'s topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
OK details please. Assuming that you are on a fairly strict two-weeker, what and how often were "you bad". This is NOT to beat you up but to assess and advise. This is hard. NO DOUBT, and please DO think. It sure is hard now, and after surgery it will STILL be harder still.
