Nausea & Vomiting 2 Weeks Post Op
Arts137 replied to #hashTag#'s topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Starting up, outa the blue? You might have a "bug", but if not, this is not "regular" with the sleeve! Call your MD team! Dehydration is BAD! -
Everyone's path is different. Each hard, but different. As someone old enough to be your Dad or Granddad, all I can offer is my ear and a hug. Both are given to you freely!

Two Weeks Out, Feeling Restricted On What I Can Eat
Arts137 replied to acspringhill's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OK, one more hint. At this stage go slow. Add ONE new thing at a meal, and if it does not feel good, put that aside for a month before you try it again. If it DOES work, just use that new food for 2 or 3 days before you add the next new thing. Trust me, time WILL fly on by, and when your stomach is FULLY healed (by 6 months) you will possibly be able to eat most foods. AND THE MOST IMPORTANT BIT: This is the time to teach yourself that food is just fuel. That it is NOT important to your success or your happiness. Try to not make your food cravings important, if you can. Remember, the real work will begin when you can eat anything BUT MUST CHOOSE NOT TOO! Control your head! -
Williamsburg VA. At 9 he can spend a day or two actually being a colonial rebel (they have formal programs). We did it with our daughter and she had a ball...

Are Protein Shakes Necessary?
Arts137 replied to MariaH1978's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I still use Protein supplimentation and will likely continue to do so into the future. BUT, the advantage of eating food is "saiety"... by filling your tummy your hunger goes down... And when in doubt follow YOUR MDs plan... And IF anyone uses protein suppliments, MAKE SURE they are of GOOD protein, have at least 20 Gm of protein AND LOW sugar content!!! -

I started at 423 and am now 320. By any measure still BIG, but my labs and medical status is good and are getting better. I look better, I feel better. HEY, don't worry about how long the journey. NO journey is too long as long as you do not stop!

Your Dr and NUT are a team. Many of us have the two week diet and then the Clear Liquids the day before, so maybe do both. Here's the deal. Doing the diet will (literally) shrink the liver and give your sugeon more roon to work inside you. A GOOD THING. And, if you can follow it (and do try hard) you will gain your first victory over fat! Yippee. I won't kid you, the first few days are hard, but it DOES get easier after day 3 or 4.

So Happy To Have Found This Site
Arts137 replied to carol1427's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Carol... we are glad you are here. Trust me, if I could have done this without surgery, I would have! And most on this board would say the same thing! There is some research that suggests that fat is not just "willpower". See: Why We Get Fat: And What to Do About It Taubes, Gary (I do not swear by these findings, but I read about weight and health a lot now). Sleeved 6 months ago. Down 100# from my greatest weight. Still more to lose (since I was MORBIDLY obese). Now ALL labs normal, BP well controlled, and I can 'do this ting'. Glad you are here, and ask anything any time!
