hey guys its a while since i posted on here ! just an up date, my band failed last year i re gained just under 2 stone of the 7 and a 1/2 i lost initially, i regained in that in 12 months of it breaking down, i have now had a full band removal and replacement 10 weeks ago, so im now looking forward to reloosing the little bit of weight ive regained, they said it was nothing i did wrong told me it was a manufacture fault, im in 2 minds about that as a band is supposed to last more than 3 years 7 months, oh well im back on track now ive been given a 2nd chance so im ready to get back on track ! any way thats just an update from me. liz xx

it failed as the tube disconnected from the band end also the band itself had a twist/facture said it was a manufacture fault

AM I WASTING MY TIME THEN HAVING BAND NO2 ???:confused2:
-
i will be getting my band removed aug 29th then 6 weeks later i will be fitted with a new band, i want this as its my second chance at this and i do not want to re gain all the weight i have lost. the 1st band i have now has a fracture/twist. i just look at this as part of my journey and it dont have to end just because 1 is broken. best wishes liz xx

hi mazzie, im in the uk too i was nhs banded in 2005, it all depends on where you live to how long you have to wait, the average time from meeting the surgeon is approx 6 months, its awfull that you have been messed around by the nhs ! but its all well worth the wait in the end. good luck Liz xxx

welcome and good luck on your journey liz xxxx

I told every one, ive had both positive and negitive responses, the negitive is from people that dont really understand weight loss surgery, and think its an easy way out, which it is not. People react to it in very diffent ways depending on how much they understand the procedure.

Hi & welcome i was NHS banded, the average waiting time can be around 6 months, but if the doc has reccomened it i would not suppose the wait will be too long, if you feel ready to be a bander then go 4 it, was the best thing ive ever done. Good luck ! Liz xxxxxxxxxx

Congratulations to both of you, you sound like your both doing really well !!. The reason for not being able to go to the loo is because of the pain killers but that will go, each day does get easier and the restriction you both are feeling now is down to swelling. Were you both NHS banded ? Me & my sister got a follow appointment through the post, for a follow up appointment at the 6 weeks mark. As for vitamins my dietician recommends just a over the counter 1 a day Vitamin as that is enough. Any way nice to hear that your both doing ok. Liz xxxxxxxxxxxxx

Where is your port located?
liz2007 replied to MistyDTX's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi my port is on the left side just under my rib cage, but my sisters is in the centre between the breasts, ive had no problems at all with my port being on the left side, i was told if in the centre its easier for fills, but my fills have been straight forward no problems at all, they say its more uncomftable at 1st on the breast bone for women then men, some surgeons let people choose others dont, id recomend to the left, any way thats my thoughts on port positioning. -

Where Did You Have Your Lap-band Done?
liz2007 replied to Lap-bandit's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I WAS BANDED IN THE UK, NHS BAND -
THE BAND IS JUST A TOOL TO AID WEIGHT LOSS, YES IT RESTRICTS SOME OF THE KINDS OF FOODS YOU CAN EAT BUT YOU ALSO HAVE TO BE SENSIBLE TOO, IF YOU TAKE THE EASY WAY OUT AND EAT HIGH CALORIE SLOPPY FOODS THAT GO THROUGH THE BAND LIKE CHOCOLATE & ICE CREAM THEN YOU JUST SIMPLY WONT LOSE WEIGHT AS ITS TOO MUCH OF A HIGH CALORIE CONTENT, YOU MUST WORK WITH THE BAND AND IT WILL WORK WITH YOU TOO. ITS A SLIMMING AID NOT A MAGIC CURE.
