    Vitamin D Deficiency

Did you ever find an answer as to why your WBC and RBC were elevated? Were you dehydrated?
  2. I am 6 weeks out, too. My surgery weight was 241 and today I am 217. I lost 18 pounds the first 15 days then gained back 2 then lost those 2 then stalled for two weeks. Since then, I have lost a pound, went several days not losing, gained a pound back, lost it.......best I can tell, I am now losing 3 to 4 pounds a week. I am not concerned, I think this is normal. I have lost 24 pounds in 45 days and a total of 40 pounds including my pre-op loss. I am thrilled.

  4. I no longer obtain real joy from eating. I told my mother that I no sooner begin eating, than I am full (we are talking about 2 ounces or 2 tablespoons). I miss the joy of eating sometimes. But I have lost 38 pounds and I am back into clothes that I never thought I would fit into again. The joy of eating was killing me. I think that must be the definition of addiction. I knew what I was doing was killing me and I couldn't stop. I have now removed the choice. I wanted French fries the other day. A large order of McDonald's french fries The desire took me by surprise. I chuckled to myself and said, "well, heck, I would only be able to eat a few fries and I wouldn't enjoy them a tenth as much as I imagine, totally not worth it". That is my new relationship with bad food. Totally not worth it. I did this to get off my CPAP and to avoid diabetes. And I am glad this is not reversible, otherwise, I believe I woul give in to my addiction and end up killing myself with food.
  5. I am 40 days out. My stats are: HW 257, SW 241, CW 219. I am 5'2". So 22 pounds since surgery. Down one size in my clothes and getting pretty close to being down the second size. My bra size before surgery was 44DDD, today went and bought a 42DD. I am losing pretty uniformly all over but I had gained all over so that is a good thing. Another girl in my office had the bypass and she is losing on the top first which she hates as she is bottom heavy. Hope this helps.

    Bread

I ate a piece about the size of a quarter and got a belly ache. My surgeon said you have to try stuff to know whether it will agree with you or not. I can eat crackers, pretzels and even toast, but no uncooked bread.

I take one a day. At first I took two once a day until I became regular.

It is a chewable tablet. Much like a chewable vitamin. I just suck on it until it dissolves. No water necessary. It is sold at WalMart. It does not expand. It is not a chemical so there is no dependence.

    spontaneous hurl.

I am about 6 weeks out. I cannot eat bread yet. It just feels bad. I can eat crackers and pretzels and even Pepperidge Farm thin white bread if I toast it until there is no moisture left in it at all. Really is a bummer sometimes cause bread is my top fav food pre-sleeve. I could almost live on bread and butter. Which, of course, was the root of my problem.
  10. I am about 6 weeks and I have to burp all the time. It is less pronounced when I slow down. Sometimes, I have my husband pat my back to help me burp as it feels better and gets rid of the air that feels like it is blocking things.

    Hyperparathyroidism

Lol, Laura. Since I got married, I have been diagnosed with ITP and had my spleen, half my thyroid, my gallbladder and 80% of my stomach removed. My husband told me he should have looked at my teeth before he bought me.
  12. How many carbs are you eating? My brain totally shuts down if I have less than 20 grams of carbs per day.
  13. I had a few days of back and forth, too. Sometimes, the protein shakes seem to trigger almost liquid stools. I am just grateful to go, too. We are not eating much fiber at all. I think that might be the culprit.
  14. I lost 18 pounds in 15 days and then nothing for 17 days. I am about 36 days out and I have lost a total of 21 pounds post surgery. 37 total. I think you are doing very well.

    what is this?

At one week out, I was still having stomach and esophageal spasms. That is what your pain sounds like. It got less and less frequent as time went on but at first, I didn't even have to eat or drink anything. It was just spontaneous. I only get those feelings now if I eat that one bite too many.

    Please be honest

When you first wake up, you may have some pain. It will not be unbearable and the nurse will be right there to give you morphine. Morphine will make it go away. Later, you will not really remember how much it hurt. You will probably have what is called a PCA. That is patient controlled pain medicine. It feeds right into your IV. You just push the button and you get a dose. I only used about half of the amount allotted to me. My catheter bothered me more than anything. I had some stomach spasms. It was not that bad. I have had two other abdominal surgeries (spleen and gallbladder). The spleen was painful. The gallbladder not at all. This was more like the gallbladder. I have migraines and they are way worse pain wise. Please don't upset yourself. Chances are you will be telling someone else later how easy it was.

    Regrets?

The bypass people I have seen don't have good color. They all look kind of gray to me. I want to be able to eat a bite of cake someday without getting the runs and I don't want to be constantly in fear that I am lacking nutrition even if I am eating a healthy diet. I just don't think bypass is the path to a healthier body. This process is tough, but I am convinced I made the right choice for me.

When I hit day 5 with no movement, I began taking Equate sugar free fiber supplement every day. Since, I have gone at least every other day, mostly, every day.

    liquor

Folks should exercise caution with the booze. One of my friends is four years out and has gained 40 if the 100 pounds she lost due to wine consumption. She says it goes down very easy and she also does not get drunk quickly. It is dangerous stuff in more ways than one.
  20. It should pass pretty quickly. 15 minutes max. If you haven't thrown up already, you will just have that pain for a bit. I learned that lesson, too.

    Lettuce

I cannot have raw veggies, including lettuce, until 3 month mark.
  22. When I saw my doctor 3 weeks after surgery, he told me he did not expect me to lose more than 12 pounds. The heavier you are to start, the more you will take off during that time. Here are my stats: I am 47 year old female. 5' 2". HW 257. SW 241. CW 221. I lost 16 pre op and 20 so far post op. I was sleeved 2/4.
  23. I am starting week 6 today. I get between 500 - 700 calories most days. My highest day was 900. I still have a 150 calories, 21 grams protein shake for breakfast. I then eat food for the rest of the day and if I am lacking protein at the end if the day, I have another shake for dinner. I get a minimum of 60 grams protein but I shoot for 75. I keep the carbs below 30 although my Nut said I could have 40. I have lost 36 pounds. 16 pre-op and 20 post op.
