I've enjoyed my fair share of alcohol beverages before surgery but due to home issues and life I've started t drink a lot more and have gained at least 30 lbs back since my surgery approximately 4 years ago. I don't know what to do at this point and am not in a place where I feel not drinking is an option (i know this is so wrong) but I feel like I'm looking for permission to do something unhealthy like not eating or severely limit my calorie intake in order to resume the weight loss process. I'm feeling weak and not in control and I don't know what to do right now. I hate exercise and i know it's something I need to do but I can't push past my discomfort to do it. I dont know why because before surgery I actually did the work and lost 40 lbs on my own in 3 months. I don't feel like I eat any more that I used to but I keep gaining. I'm so sad because a I'm writing this I'm getting drunk. I feel like maybe my drinking is causing the weight gain ( since it's the only thing that I've really changed) but I don't feel like I'm in a head space to stop. Any advise would help. Thanks

Looks like my Dr. was right on target when she said I wasn't eating enough. Added snacks in between meals and I'm down 5 more lbs from the 11th. Yay!

KAISER PATIENTS GOT A ?
NessaPooh replied to Jimbo_D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Member services will tell you if you have any other out of pocket expenses like coinsurance. It should also tell you on KP.org when you log on how much your insurance covers for bariatric surgery. -
Mirena During Surgery
NessaPooh replied to cerenatee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
With Kaiser, the bariatric program really pushes you to be on BC other than the pill or condoms and they really pushed getting Mirena so I got it. The OB also said that it helps with the excessive menstruation that some women get after a large weight loss. -
KAISER PATIENTS GOT A ?
NessaPooh replied to Jimbo_D's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hiya, I have Kaiser too. Here they ask for your copay when you check in on your surgery day. -
When I woke up after surgery the first thing out of my mouth after "Uuuughhhhh" was "Can I get on my side?". They said I could and propped pillows under my tummy and behind my back. Felt so much better after that. When I got home I did the same thing and slept great.

There were two girls in my class that were smaller. I don't know their BMI though. But I know one of them has already had her surgery. I also had very large girls in class who still haven't been scheduled for surgery yet even with BMI's over 50 and comorbidities because they gained weight while going through the class. From what I understood from class is that if they accepted you to the program you are pretty much approved unless you gain weight while you are going through the class or miss too many classes. So I think you'll be ok

Has the sleeve not worked for you?
NessaPooh replied to tannak's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm 5 weeks out and so far so good. My recovery was exceptional even by my Dr's standards. Went back to my full time job after two weeks and my part time job after 4 days (i got scolded for that). The only time I get bummed out is in social eating situations. I'm never really hungry and food isn't "fun" anymore when you have 2-4 bites and your pretty much done. No trying out everyone's plate. No craft beers... But all in all, I don't regret it at this point. -
Hi Sabrina! I'm doing well. Still trying to find things that I like to eat since everything tastes kind of off right now. But other than that everything is A ok. I feel great physically. Saw you post about being approved, Congrats!!!! Do you have a date yet?

Post op march sleevers
NessaPooh replied to gelen's_change's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on the 4th. Yes! The gas pains are no joke. The only that helped me was walking and taking teeny tiny sips of liquid. -
We didn't have to do that class. Some of my classmates had called and inquired about the nutrition class before and they did get a referal to attend but I believe its optional. They might also refer some people to the sleep apnea study, addiction medicine, or further psych eval but they aren't required. They called a few of us to meet our surgeon only two weeks after class ended. It was a really fast process. Some people haven't been called yet but they are still taking meds for H-Pylori or are missing classes or haven't finished their labs. Are you doing yours in Harbor City?

Great job on your 4 lb loss!! Keep up with whatever you've been doing and you'll have no worries about meeting your goal. I've been doing pretty well, still a bit sore and the gas pains weren't very fun. It was a reminder that I need to walk more. I'm able to drink a lil more now. I basically babysit anything I drink throughout the day because I get full quickly. It's definitely nice to have friends arounds to boost your spirits so keep them close How many more weeks do you have until your last options class?

I slept most of the day before surgery. I was so hungry and just wanted to eat everything. I tried spending time with a friend but when they ordered BBQ I had to leave, couldn't take it anymore. Fortunately, I didn't want to eat anything after surgery. Probably the first time anyone has had to pressure me to put food in my mouth. lol

I did my options classes in the SouthBay/ Harbor City. My surgeon was Dr Belzberg. I started at 340lbs and I was 319lbs on Monday right befor my surgery.
