2 week stall at about 2 1/2 months post op
Lmztude replied to canuckpaisa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This is very normal. The key is 60-80 grams of protein daily, eat carbs because they give your body energy, drink water and exercise. When you add excercise to the mix it confuses the body even more and it needs some time to catch up. Trust me it will catch up. I was in a 3 week stall at 35lbs...happy to say i am now at 50lbs, joined a gym...confused my body but when it caught up it caught up fast!! Dont stress it keep going and the weight will come off. By the way...GREAT job!! Dont forget to celebrate your success!! -
You can do it! You have already made the commitment to yourself that you are ready for the change by enrolling in this program. We all have self doubt at moments in our life, that is when we need our motivators. Your motivators can be people, pictures, books really anything. I encourage you first to look in the mirror. Really look. Instead of pointing out your flaws focus on the positives that are in that mirror. Then tell yourself 3 things you should already know the first being I CAN DO THIS. The other 2...well those are on you. Mine were I am a confident woman, and no one can make my day but me! If you slip and eat something you shouldnt do not beat yourself up. Recognize you are not perfect and get yourself back on the road to healthy!! Good luck!!

You look amazing!! Congratulations on your continued weight loss! -
I gave myself a wonderful birthday present this year. Health! I joined a gym. I have my own trainer Bill. He is very motivating and manages to make me feel excited about the scary machines that loom in my future. My husband and I joined on 2/16/13. To date I have lost 8.5 inches!! And most of it...in my stomach. I am really focusing on arms and stomach because the stair stepper, treadmill and eliptical work out my legs and butt. I am down 8 shirt sizes and 6 pant sizes!! Having the sleeve surgery saved my life. I feel like a new person. I have traded my love for food for a love of a healthier ME!! The best part is that I dont worry about the machines to come I am actually ready to take on all the new challenges and beat them!

Krissy, based on the fact that I have had both surgeries, I can tell you a few things. 1. With the lap band, you can still put the wrong foods in. I could eat anything I wanted. I had to have the will power to choose healthy foods. If you struggle with will power the band may not be the choice for you. 2. With the sleeve I felt instant restriction when i tried my first real meal. My body told me I was full and I had no choice but to listen. No one but you and your doctor should tell you which surgery is best for you. I suggest researching both of the surgeries and based on your research, your health history and your surgeons recommendations make your choice from there. Good Luck!! I wish you great success.

When does hair stop falling out!
Lmztude replied to sarahzamudio1091's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There is a product that can help with hair loss, it is called Nioxin. It is a shampoo. You can find it online and it will list what stores carry it. It works!! -
Hi, My name is Lisa. I live in Michigan and work as a Bariatric Center Manager and Certified Group Support Leader. I am married and have 2 children, a step daughter and 2 grand children by marriage. My husband didnt want me to have surgery because he didnt want to chance losing me on the table. He went to one of our informational sessions so I could explain why this is important to me. I want to be around!!! And with the weight I am carrying, my time here will be shortened. He understood and is now one of my biggest supporters. I am blessed. I had the Lap Band done in 2008. I had complications, my port moved which meant second surgery. From the beginning it was hard for my band to be filled the pokes ranged from 15-27 even under floroscopy. I went to another doctor, the one that eventually I would work with. He did some testing and found my band had moved. I had to have another surgery to take the band out to stop erosion on my stomach. I had lost in total 110 lbs but over time had gained alot back. My New Surgeon Vasanth Salin MD performed a sleeve gastrectomy on 1/7/13. To date I am 30lbs down and feeling great!! I can definately tell the difference in the surgeries because I feel very restricted. I coach and help patients on a daily basis and my job is very fulfilling. But I am human too and need guidance and support. That is why I joined this forum. For support and also topics that I can present to our patients that attend the group support we offer. I look forward to the new friends I will make. Lisa
