A friend of mine had gastric and she is really pissing me off.
kulita replied to LipstickLady's topic in Rants & Raves
WOW! Well, people like that never really learn anything about themself. I am so sorry that you are irritated by her actions. Why exactly are your upset at what another person is doing? You can't really control anyone's actions but your own. I agree in that I would be upset too, but I would shake my head and vow to not be like that person. I would probably stop talking to someone like that. Have you sat down with her and actually confronted her about how it makes you feel more so than how you think her new job is a scam? -
haha thanks! All the shakes mentioned above have 0 carbs

about 800. for Breakfast I had 2 scrambled eggs and 2 oz of spam for lunch I had 5 ozcreamed tomato Soup and 2 oz cheese for snack I had an 8 oz Protein shake with milk for dinner I had 4 oz of stewed lamb (Osso Bucco) with 1 Tbsp of saffron risotto. In between all of this I had ice pops, coconut Water, juice, and crystal lite.
-
Ya know I am completely the opposite. I tried those even though I have a sensitivity to food coloring and boy was I ill. Even the crystal lite fruit punch made me sick... Strangely enough the crystal lite lemonade is good and the gatorade frost or glacier cherry is good too.

Pre-Op Diet Mess up!
kulita replied to AmandaGeorgePelts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
TRUST ME, we ALL have been there. In fact my Dr. said the upper part of my stomach was grotesquely larger than the rest of my stomach. Thanks to my sliding hiatal hernia I now know what lap band felt like. I was starving all the time and ironically constantly eating all the time. to help you out during this phase..you need to up your Protein in your shakes. Are you taking 2 a day and then a dinner? If so, you can do what I did and that was drink a 6 oz one for Breakfast. 2 hours late have another 6 oz shake, do the same for lunch, and eat a small salad that is the size of your palm. Spacing out the shakes really helped me stay full. Also I got a bunch of different flavors to break up the monotony of 1 flavor. SOMETIMES I would add in more shake powder for added protein and to thicken it up. Other times I would add half greek yogurt to half milk. Even after surgery I still have hunger it just isn't as bad and I can control the hunger a bit more. Good old pancreas stimulating my grehlin. -
paxil is so small that I don't think you really need to crush it or have it in liquid. Other pills that are larger should be crushed up. You could cut it in half as a precaution, but to be safe just ask your Dr.
-
Your pancreas can stimulate grehlin too!. I bet you didn't know that. Some of us do experience real hunger but it isn't as intense as it used to be. Good for you for being in control

Pre-Op Diet Mess up!
kulita replied to AmandaGeorgePelts's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, a lot of us mess up. However, the pre op diet is designed to make sure your liver shrinks, AND it begins the mental test to determine if you can handle the liquid phases of the diet post op. You CAN NOT turn back post op, otherwise you could be putting yourself in real danger. When you write that you are failing... what is going on exactly? Are you drinking good quality Protein? Are you having ENOUGH protein and Water? Is your craving taking over... what is your craving? -
HAHAHA LMAO.... the key is don't be pushy, make her well informed

Why are so many people disappointed when they "only lose" this and that much weight?
kulita replied to Sweetcarol238's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
It is a miracle to me.... I mean with living with PCOS, it was a miracle that the scale moved even half a lb. I am TOTALLY happy with any results I get. -
Don't try to talk her out of her decision. That is like others talking you out of your choice. Support her and her decisions. that is what a friend does. If she does all of her research, she will naturally go to the option that she feels is best. She will also see the high incidence of lap band/realize band reversals.

Tips for getting Nexium down?
kulita replied to heatwhip's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
^ my meltdown was more like rage of fire. I had NO IDEA what was going on. I take nexium 2x a day. I have to open the capsule in a medicine cup. put some liquid in my mouth and down it. 15ml is not a lot of water that is like 1 Tbsp. Try doing it with the liquid first and then toss the powder into your mouth. You can always drink a little more afterwards. Try it a few times and see if this helps. If that doesn't work ask your Dr. if you can have some else that doesn't taste so bad. -
Well, we aren't dr.'s We are sympathizing with you and your struggles. Many of us go through what you are going through. In fact, I if your read this thread my experiences were similar. On your discharge papers does it have instructions on what to do if you have a fever? If you are still having a fever and feel ill call your Dr. It isn't normal for anyone to have a fever for as long as you have unless you are sick or have an infection.

it might be better to do a search for it in the general forums.

The first 5 days I was drinking out of a medicine cup that was 1 oz (30ml) and it was very difficult to drink all of that down. I also had a fever for the first 2 days until I started using the spirometer 15x per hour. Also I had to drink like a lady by only sipping ONLY when the liquid touched my lips.

I was in a lot of pain like I did 5000 sit ups or I was inducted into a gang fight. My body felt exhausted. Also, my pain threshold is really low for sharp pains. Dull pains I can take on pretty well. Walking helped A LOT. I was on a Pain med pump that delivered pain relief every 10 minutes and that was good but it made me dizzy so it was difficult to walk.

Unsupportive Family Members
kulita replied to Amy O's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are your parents paying for this procedure? If not, then you need to take a stand and tell your loved ones that the question left unanswered is whether or not they will support your and your Dr's; NOT whether or not you will have the surgery. I hope the best for you. I also hope you don't have the type of parents that will chastise you as soon as you are in pain, or experiencing a difficulty- NO ONE needs that in their life. That is emotional abuse and neglect. My guess is that they just want what is best for you and don't want to see you suffer. They best way they can do this is through supporting you, finding out all sorts of info, and asking YOUR Dr. and questions or concerns that they may have. Dr. Oz even said it best when he stated that the risks for this surgery is minimal compared to the risks of not having it and developing debilitating disease from obesity. http://www.doctoroz....ould-be-getting -
Something to think of is that even though some shakes may be 30-46gm of protein per serving, sometimes these servings call for 12-16 oz prepared. This is quite a lot to drink in the beginning.

kulita replied to Healthier2day1227's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My pre op diet was more like Kitkats. Also the premier protien from Costco is cheap and you can get it in powder and ready to drink. Personally, it was too sweet for me and I could not drink it down. I would suggest buying samples before you commit to a huge package. Get a variety of shakes so you don't get tired of the flavors. -
