  1. LOL.... OK well as a marketing director I have to point out that there must be some sort of sponsorship or donation in order to keep advertising these Dr.'s These ads aren't entirely free. Maybe to lower overhead for maintenance this site included the ads. Also, it was amusing to read "I do not and WILL NOT exclusively recommend my doctor unless I am on the payroll for marketing on his behalf. LoL" and yet in your signature you are inadvertently advertising for him. I am not picking on you... please do not see it that way, I just thought it was amusing, because all of your great accomplishments post op could be attributed to your surgeon, Dr. Davidson.
  2. I think your NUT is trying to set you up for success post op. After surgery you will understand why you shouldn't eat and drink at the same time. You are so full from food that if you dare drink you will most likely vomit, but, if you wait about 30 minutes you can start drinking Water without ease. Start eating the right foods that they went over during the seminar and log it down in the food diary. When you are post op, you will find what what you can eat with ease and what you can't or don't tolerate anymore.

^ me too!!! Anything that is VERY rich has always made me satisfied/content with small portions. For me that is ice cream, cake, brownies... and even chocolate.
  5. No, No disrespect taken... I was commenting on how many of us Celebrate with BBQ on memorial day but not Veteran's day, and to make sure that no one forgets the meaning behind today. As for the actual BBQ's there are so many in SoCal that I swear the state is on fire. LOL
  6. Isn't it sad that Memorial Day (a day where we are supposed to honor and remember those that have fallen fighting for our country) is often remembered for BBQ's... while Veteran's Day is to thank all service members for the commitment and duty for serving in the military typically isn't? Probably because it is too cold in many states come November. As a veteran and a wife of a husband who is still active duty, we went to cemeteries to visit our fallen heroes and replace old flags with news ones, and give flags to those who may have been forgotten. BBQ's are great and give plenty of us Post Op'ers time to graze on tidbits here and there, but please don't forget those who are still fighting who can't come home, and don't forget those that have passed so we can remain at home to have a BBQ. I wish my brother could be here with me today.
  7. ATT has towers that go into TJ. I know this because when I come close to the border it lets me know that I will be charged int'l rates. I confirmed with ATT to let them know that I hadn't crossed the border but I had a message come up via txt. A lot of people use skype. Skype has a mobile phone feature too so you can get calls on your skype # fwd'ed to your cell.

^ EXACTLY. I love good food and I really love GOOD chocolate. The truffle I had was $3 for 2!! Indulge every once in a while. My daugther picked the milk chocolate with orange mint grenache and I picked the dark chocolate with lemon rosemary. Our truffles got mixed up, so that is why it was so sweet (I think).

PGrams, you could have had worse sliders! LOL I am a month out and I KNOW that I shouldn't have done it but I ate a chocolate truffle. Oh it so so smooth and creamy, and oh wait!! Sickeningly sweet, ew. Despite that last bit I still swallowed it down. I mean it had 4 gram of Protein so why not Yeah Yeah, I know it will slow down my weight loss.... But I have never been one to limit the types of food that I eat. the reason I got to the point where I needed the sleeve was because I ate way to much all the time. Well, after I ate it, it felt like a lump was in my belly for the next hour. NOT the best decision. If I choose to have another it will most certainly be a few months from now. I think that is about all of the sliders I have had. I seem to be pretty full on shakes, soft Proteins, and Water
  12. ^ It was like that for me on Obesityhelp too. That is why I moved over here.

ya know what is weird my "after" pic will not show up... there should be some instructions pinned to the forum on how to add these features for people that may not be a tech savvy as we think (ahem.... me!)

    I am do depressed

Are you or have you started the b12 yet? If not, and your Dr. approves you should start taking this. It will help with your energy levels and hopefully will lift your spirits a little.

What I miss most after WLS...

To be honest, after I am finished eating I am too full to even consider drinking anything. Usually by 30-45 minutes the fullness is gone and I may take small sips. Usually I wait for an hour to pass.
  16. Well, if your Dr.s instructs it, his/her office can write it up as a part of a monitored diet plan.
  17. I was sleeved about a month ago and I still have some pain that is probably at a level 6 if I touch it. My IV was in my hand and it started to get puffy and a day after it was swelling a nurse said it was infiltrated and I had to have it changed. At first there was some minor pain at the site and a few days after surgery I chalked it up to my body healing after all of the trauma. I spoke to my Dr. about it and he said it could be a very small clot but not to worry as it won't really harm me and to apply a warm compress. 2 weeks later, I am still in pain (only when it is touched or moved) and the area above my wrist is swollen. Not grotesquely swollen, but it is noticeable. I was reading about IV infiltration and one poster on another board said she had developed scar tissue and it would take 6-12 months before the pain would go away. Has ANYONE had something like this occur? I am just wondering when my wrist and hand will go back to normal.
  18. ^ That is true too. I was on Nexium once a day but that got bumped to 2x a per day and I have to open up the capsule
  19. The good part of the pre-op diet is that you will know which shakes you like and you have time to get a variety...trust me you will need variety in your shakes. The Bad part is stocking up on those shakes only to find out that you don't quite like the way the shake tastes post op. My taste buds didn't change post op, but others on here have had their taste buds change. Start with my fav's Syntrax's nectar or unjury, or Go with other popular ones like Isopure or Jay Robb. Make sure there is a low carb to Protein ratio, and try to get samples before you invest in a huge tub. Good luck on your pre-pre op diets!
  20. LOL... ok I would try the Jay Robb ones before you jump to eating eggs instead of protein shakes.
  21. If you want to go to the health food route you could try RAW by garden of life. This Protein shakes uses brown rice Proteins. I tried it and didn't like it as it was very gritty in texture. Another option that is very healthy is Jay Robb egg white or whey protein. I have tried the egg white protein and I thought that is was good. Not the best but good. I have not had his whey protein. It is a natural as you are gonna get aside from curdling your own buttermilk and separating the curds from the whey

    Alone in Mexico

^ THAT sounds like a fantastic idea!
  23. Ok, do any of your shakes have dairy in it? Whey can be made with and without lactose. People who have trouble in finding lactose free whey protein usually go to egg white protein.

    ANY APRIL SURGERIES?....

Hmmmm, well your new sleeve should be healed well by then but I was told it wont be fully healed until 6 months out. You could add some things to your shake to break up the monotony flavors and change textures a bit. In vanilla shakes add banana (this gives a more slimy texture unless you use frozen bananas) Peach with skin peeled flavored kefir/yogurt frozen jello (sounds gross but adds lots of flavor and smooth texture)
  25. Are you taking prilosec or nexium to reduce the amount of acid in your sleeve? Also, are you crushing your meds & vitamins or are they liquids/chewables?
