    Diabetics after the sleeve

Don't be sorry! We are all used to counting for her and she knows how to do it herself too. For Shakes I have Syntrax Nectar in Chocolate truffle, vanilla bean, and strawberry mousse. They have 0 carbs, and 0 fat. The chocolate and vanilla are pretty good in water, but I prefer all of my shakes in milk which I know adds up my carbs. You could try changing up your shakes.

    The apocalypse!

While everyone is scrounging around for antibiotics and painkillers, I will be searching for nexium and vitamins, LOL
  3. I have heard of doing a 5 day test to jump start it... 2 days runny liquids 1 day thick liquids 1 day puree 1 day soft food no more than 600 cals and 40gm of carbs or less per day

    Whats with all this saliva?

Well it is exactly what it sounds like. Sliming means, a slimy form of your saliva. Foamies, are usually a foamy form of saliva and often has burps associated with it.

    Whats with all this saliva?

I have only had it last up to an hour after eating. Some swear that there's last up to 3 hours but that sounds extreme since food should have left the sleeve by 3 hours. Try eating smaller bites, chew until pulverized and eat your meals over a 30-45 min time span and see if that helps.

    Diabetics after the sleeve

Aw hun, I know how frustrating it can be. I have a T1 Diabetic daughter and we had to watch her carbs and now watch mine as well since I was sleeved. My Dr said to stay around 50 total carbs, Of course this is difficult to do when you know little things like green beans, or oranges have carbs too.

    Whats with all this saliva?

I have never had the foamies, but I have had the slimes. No, they are not one in the same. Funny though... I never had the slimes when I was on a liquid diet, so this leads me to believe that it is related to actual food not being chewed thoroughly.
  8. Make sure you fully understand all the good things that could come from this surgery as well as the bad. Yeah it may be extreme to think like that, but you need to be well prepared.

    10 days post-op

I used to use MFP but now I go to FitDay because I can see vitamin levels broken down. It is easy to track things. Just get a a notebook and write 4 colums. 1- date, 2- time, 3- water in oz, 4- protein in grams
  10. MizzouGirl, That is fabulous! Can you help us out and give a brief sample of what you eat that brings it to 600-700 per day?
  11. What happened to you made me laugh. It has happened to me too. When you reveal something so intimate to another person that you feel should know about the surgery, you want their support and attention not a criticism or a lecture, granted I am sure it was out of concern. My favorite was how Sharon Osbourne was brought up and how she had the lap band removed, so I should be smart like her. LOL Are you flipping kidding me? Look where being "so smart" has gotten me... obese and on my way to a grave.
  12. I am with Reigo in what I can eat. 300 a day seems really low and almost on the brink of malnutrition... but that is just my opinion. and you should always follow your Dr's guidelines. Jhiggy, are you eating it over the span of 30-45 minutes and chewing thoroughly? If you chew until it is pulverized you can meet your caloric intake and it will not hurt/give that lump in the chest feeling as often.
  13. What?!?!? How is that possible? From reading it on these boards I know it is possible, but it doesn't make any sense. I mean if I make a 6 oz shake with milk for Breakfast, that alone comes to over 200 cals. My Nut devised a plan for me to consume 600 cals by having 6 oz of shake and about 400 split between BF, lunch, and dinner Breakfast Shake-2 oz of shake lunch Shake- 2 oz of shake Dinner Shake- 2 oz of shake
  14. That sounds like pain from eating/drinking too much at one time.
  15. Are you on a PPI? How is your potassium intake? Your PPI should be taken on a regular basis. Some Dr.'s prescribe it only once per day and some break up the strength of the- dose into a smaller strength and increase the amount to twice a day. I asked about your potassium because when you get cramps it is often prevented by an adequate consumption of potassium... now this is if it is typical cramps. Since you are on week 2 and moved up a week, puree a banana with your shakes that should help a lot. Other on here SWEAR by drinking some pickle juice to relieve cramping. I will admit that one time my cramps got so bad when I was in week 2 that I gave up and drank 2 oz of the stuff. Within 30 minutes my cramps went away. Coincidence? Not sure...LOL
  16. My Dr & Nut has me on 600 a day until week 6 and then it is bumped up to 800. Honestly, for me I was finding it difficult to stay at 600 and would often creep into the 800 range. Now, that I am past 6 weeks I creep into the 1,000's regularly. I still loose weight and I eat whatever I want, albeit bread or bread like products have not been doing too well so I try to avoid that.
  17. Buy 1 get 1 Smart Water???? I'm THERE!

  18. wow... well again, each Dr. is different and sometimes has plans that are not similar for each of us.
  19. Courtoomp, I know that not everyone has the same Dr., but the bariatric team (Dr. Cirangle sits on the board and he is the founder of this surgery) where I live unanimously agreed that we needed calcium citrate and no other form will provide nearly enough calcium at a rate in which our bodies can absorb. I am sure that in the years to come the nutritional needs for our surgery will change yet again, as they did back in 2005, LOL.

    Carb question...

You want to keep your carbs to a minimum aim for no more than 50 per day.

    Carb question...

I forgot to add that most products will have insoluble fiber on the nutrition label below the Total Carb line. It is usually indented. My daughters Diabetic Dietitian taught me that
  22. kulita

    Carb question...

Count total carbs. When your body is trying to make energy all carbs turn into glucose no matter where they come from. The only thing that doesn't get converted as readily is insoluble fiber which sweeps through the intestines. Insoluble fiber may be difficult to digest after a VS so be careful.

    Whole Pills?

Take a regular dose because you should have an adult sized colon right?

    Suggestions?

^ most of those protein shots are not made with Whey isolate which is what our body needs. Typically they are made with, whey concentrate, collagen or a mix of the two. Be careful and make sure you are getting good quality whey isolate protein.
