    Good protein shake

The best advice any of us can give you is get a variety. If you only get one type of Protein shake you may get tired of it real quick. Fiddleman... I saw the cake batter one how is it? I have the banana cream one and it goes really well with a scoop of PB and milk.
  2. Protein shakes, chicken broth, jello, and ice pops. Buy the sample packs of protein shakes BEFORE you spend a lot of money on a huge tub or ready to drink 18 pack. Syntrax's Nectar (vitacost.com or Vitamin shoppe) and Unjury (unjury.com) are really good to try out.

    corn?

OK... then you NEED to download Dr. Alverez Vertical sleeve book or the WLS for dummies book recent edition. Both tell you the phases of food you should be going through. Additionally, follow up with a nutritionist for any questions you may have and to track your weight loss.

    pre op diet

No, For the liquid diet it is anything you can drink through a straw and turns to liquid form in your stomach. This is Protein shakes, Jello, ice pops, juice, Water, strained Soups and broths, milk... etc The Beans are not allowed in the liquid phase unless your Dr instructed you otherwise.

    Discomfort

You may be taking in air while you are drinking. Try to start drinking only when the liquids touch your lips. Also, drink only about 1 oz at a time, so not a mouth full of fluids. wait about 2 minutes then take another.

    trigger foods

^ alright my case had nothing to do with sweet.. but it did have something to do with eating something that I should not be eating

    trigger foods

Well, I am not going to lie about it. I have seen a few birthdays since my surgery and it was difficult to look at cake and not have even a tiny nibble. My friends would joke that I could put it into a blender with milk and drink it. EW! So I knew it was mind over matter. I told myself that I had cake over 100 times before and most of the time it isn't really THAT good. Some are but most aren't. I told myself that I could have some cake later when I knew it was going to be spectacular. Sweets have been tempting me because. It is a slider food and it seems that I can't eat a lot of it. Do I want to? Not really, but I want that taste and then I want to put it away. So, if you have the will power to indulge only a very tiny bit then go for it, otherwise stay off of the mountain cause a landslide will happen. Case in point. Hubby made popcorn... hot, delicious, salty, buttery, popcorn. I KNEW I shouldn't' have any because of the kernel hulls. So I went out and bought some "Pirates Booty" puffed rice & corn snack. It sort of tastes like popcorn and cheeto puffs. I allowed myself .5 of an oz and together we watched a movie. I could have eaten the entire bag of that stuff, BUT, I resisted. Since surgery it has been much easier to say no to many things I would have gladly given into.
  9. You can know if you are in ketosis for sure by purchasing some ketone strips at CVS or Walgreens. I think they are about $2-3 for 50ct. My youngest daughter (13 yrs) has type 1 diabetes so she checks her urine every time her glucose is above 250... which means her body is needs insulin and it is using body fat as fuel instead of glucose. This fat burning stage gives us the breath that smells a lot like chewed juicy fruit gum, and some people can even report an acetone smell on themselves. The problem with being in ketosis is that it makes your blood acidic. When you blood becomes acidic your kidneys signal you to drink more Water.. and thus you have the frequent urination. If your blood becomes too acidic and you are not able to keep up with your body's thirst demands, you go into ketoacidosis which could result in a coma. However, that reaction is really far down the road and it is simple to remedy it. If you are a diabetic take insulin, if not ingest some sugars. Just watch out for your body and if it signals that you need to drink more, are constantly thirsty, and you test positive on a ketone strip... you may want to have a small glass of juice (with normal sugars) to break up the ketosis stages. Don't forget to bring it up with your DR. too, so he/she is well aware of what your body is doing.

    Good protein shake

There are a lot of Protein shakes out there. My advice to you is to buy samples first BEFORE you invest in a huge tub or giant package. Quite a few people buy Isopure from GNC or Premier from Costo/sam's club and bring it right back or give it away. Additionally, there are some people who really do like these brands. I prefer unjury or Syntrax's nectar because it mixes well, is palatable, and I like the flavors. Both of these you can get sample for too! http://www.verticalsleevetalk.com/blog/2407/entry-6040-unjury-and-syntrax-nectar-desserts/

    In the beginning stages!

All simple carbs for sure.. My dr made some of us drink a shake for Breakfast and lunch and dinner was a 300-350 lean cuisine and a salad big enough for your hand. You could try this...
  16. My Dr said that at 6 months I could take pills again.... so until then I have to stomach chewables or liquids.

    Foamy mouth

This is what is called the slimes or foamies. You get it if you eat too fast or too much. Some people also get it when their new stomach does not agree with this and they have developed an intolerance.
  18. it depends on how well you follow your Dr & NUT's guidelines. Some people cheat on slider foods, and others don't. Each person is different.

    What are your staples?

I think it is in a cheese braid or cheese knot. Mine is eggs, cottage cheese, gatorade and popscicles. I do eat other stuff but I find myself crawling back or wanting these items almost every day. OOOO and coconut Water too.
  21. They are about $20 bucks for RTD. Personally, I thought they were too sweet for me. I hope you have better luck
  22. Eggs & corned beef hash for Breakfast

  23. LOL! Ok go on laugh... I can take it

    Regrets

To a lot of people the surgery itself seems unconventional. In Egypt, this is unheard of... even diets are not as popular as one would think. Do your research and choose something that is right for you and your situation; which may not be what is popular in the UK.
  25. Well, any healthy fats will do. Are you able to eat fish?
