rickyswife got a reaction from cindymg in Sugar Free Popsicles Instead of Ice, YUMMY!
Finally I have found a way to mix a Protein Shake that doesn't make me gag, choke, spit, do the "I look like I need to pee, but I really just drank foul swill aka whey Protein Powder shake" dance.....
So maybe you are smarter and have already been doing this,
or maybe like me this will be a help,
so I decided to share.
Here is what I have found that actually goes down well..
Orange Creamsicle Recipe
*two sugar free Popsicles (choose your flavors) (this replaces the ice I would normally use)
*scoop or scoop and half (I use 1.5 powder) vanilla or French Vanilla
*few drops of vanilla extract
* 2 ounces Water
Blend it all up...... tastes like an orange creamsicle..... no really it does......... NEXT RECIPE:
Mint chocolate Chip Recipe:
*two sugar free Fudgsicles (store brands usually have the very lowest counts for some reason) (choose your flavors) (this replaces the ice I would normally use)
*scoop or scoop and half (I use 1.5 powder) Vanilla or French Vanilla
*few drops of vanilla extract
*one or two drops mint extract (one or two does the trick.... powerful stuff)
* 2 ounces water
So yummy.... the mint just does the trick.

rickyswife reacted to Damaris67 in 41 lbs down, SEX is AMAZING
I still have about 30 lbs more to go. Although my legs lost mass muscle and feel weak easily, I was able to do some things in the naked dept. that have not happened since 2000. Yay my new body!
I hope I'm not the only one

rickyswife reacted to NoneYa in Marriage falling apart
Often a spouse's biggest fear is that their partner's weight loss will make them attractive to the opposite sex. They fear that they'll be hit on and that they will take someone up on offers they might not have received otherwise. If you had a strong marriage before you should still have one. You might need to reassure him that your Interest is and will forever be in him, if that is he case.

rickyswife reacted to karpouzian in Marriage falling apart
From a guy's perspective, if my wife had lost XX amount of pounds, and I hadn't made any similar, significant changes in my own life, I'd be grumpy. And probably pretty passive aggressive about it, meaning I would be giving the silence treatment...

rickyswife reacted to Veruca Salt in Marriage falling apart
Nothing you said shows your marriage is going down the tubes. Like most men they do not talk about their feeling. He could be just getting use to the "New You". If you do find the marriage is over then you need to evaluate if it will change thing to go to therapy. He maybe the kind of man who is attracted to big women. You would be the one who knows him best. Work on yourself and in the mean time try and talk to him slowly, don't push. Hit him up a little at a time or he will clam right up. Good luck to you, I wish you the best.

rickyswife reacted to aliekat55 in I told my Mom today
i am not looking forward to mentioning this to my mom. She lives in San Antonio so there is no urgency since she wont be seeing me for months. yet the contrast should be rather dramatic by that time. alas such is life. My tolerance for unnecesary drama is so low now that the persistent questioning would drive me crazy

rickyswife reacted to HatheryOnHerWay in Stretched stomach?
My advice is to learn from your mistake and realize fried rice is a trigger food for you.
-
rickyswife reacted to MIJourney in Stretched stomach?
You may want to stay away from rice, Pasta, potatoes & bread for a while. At least while you are still in your "losing" phase. Protein first and you won't have room for them anyway. Good luck with your journey

rickyswife reacted to Aisha902 in Stretched stomach?
It would have to be over-filled again and again for it to permanently stretch (according to my doc). So, don't panic.... just try not to binge very often (or at all).... but eating it over the span of 5 hours is a good thing - some digestion would have occurred along the way... Don't worry! Go do something now to "make up" for it....take a walk? Some heavy house cleaning? That's what I do when I stray off course briefly...

What I find ironic is how many sleevers like to complain when someone calls WLS the "easy way out", but then get upset that it isn't just that. Guess what? Your weight will always be a struggle--FOR LIFE!! The pounds won't fall off in a week, and when they're gone it still requires hard work to keep them gone.

Very well said. This is so true. I like the fact that your post did not seem to sarcastically mock individuals that feel this way & post about it. Your post was also encouraging. This is what we are all here for, to help, encourage, inform, uplift each other & even sometimes to help snap ea other back into a healthy reality...lol. I like this post & I'm glad that you posted it.

rickyswife reacted to Heyher in Before you post you've "only lost X pounds"
I posted something similar to this when I was preop.
I think that so many expect the weight to just melt off at a rate of 20lbs a month for 6+ months. I don't know of anyone who had those kinds of numbers on here. I lost about 60lbs in my first three months. 10lbs month 4 and 5lbs this month. I'm slowing way down as I get closer to goal. With only 25 or so left to goal, I know it's not going to be easy.
But I'll take my 5lbs lost this month. Because that's 5lbs less. I would take 1lb a month loss because that would mean I'm not gaining.
Early out in the first month or two when hormones are all out of whack, I think it is easy to go into a tailspin of panic that you will be the one person this doesn't work for. But if you are following the plan, then you will lose. Might not be at the pace you want, but a loss is a loss. Every ounce lost should be celebrated because that is one ounce closer to goal and one ounce less you are carrying around.
It is hard in the beginning. But don't focus on how far you have to go. Stop and look at how far you have come!!! Look back at trying your shoes preop compared to now. Think about the waist line from your pants digging in to needing a belt. Post your NSV and enjoy every aspect of this journey. Don't be a slave to the scale. We can't get fixated on seeing our magic number pop up when we step on the scale. We need to focus on the journey so we can learn healthy lifestyles. That way the destination won't be so scary.

So true! I bought a Bodymedia fit. It has actual sensors on it to calculate calories burned throughout the day. What I've learned is that I burn a lot slower than average. During a 20 minute circuit training workout, I burn 250 calories. If I used MFP or another online calculator, it would say I should have burned 350-400 calories! Our bodies are all different. I've lost 0 pounds in the last month but lost 2 inches in my waist! I'll take it!
