How honest are you with your surgeon?
Gibson replied to Shinyhappymommy's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I like your answer. Tell him that you have no intentions of going on a low-carb "diet". That your plan is to eat healthy foods of ALL varieties...in moderation. He can't argue with that. -
Foods that mirror the body parts they nourish!

This could explain why all the hot rolls I've eaten over the years have enhanced the "rolls" around my stomach. =) Fascinating! -
I can't sleep at all. I was used to relying on the carb comas to knock me out and now I can't sleep. Can't nap. Can't function. I'm thinking about asking the doctor for some Ambien.

JaxBandster, Ask and ye shall receive!!!! =) So, who are you guys rooting for? My favorite boy is the little David one. He's a little too nice but he is just a kid, after all. I shouldn't want him to be jaded and corrupt already. lol That'll happen soon enough if he stays in Hollywood long enough. His voice is unbelievable. My favorite girl is Syesha. I think she's got it all, looks, personality, incredible voice...I'm looking forward to tonight!!!

I'm a trashy reality show junkie. I really am embarrased to admit that I watch Flavor of Love and Rock of Love, Brady Maybe Baby, Scott Baio is 46 and pregnant...etc.. I also love Biggest Loser, American Idol, Grey's Anatomy (if we ever get a new episode!), and older shows like Arrested Development. Love the Office, love....well, as you can see....I am a confirmed couch potato. lol What do you guys like to watch?

*la la la, la la la* I can't hear you!!!! *covers ears to protect myself from the football talk*

I just had a revelation about my character. In real life, I never, ever, EVERRRRRR say anything bad about anyone. I just realized that I might be watching reality TV so I can spew nasty things about people who will never know what I say, you know, just to get it out of my system !!!! I sound EVIL in this thread! lol

Oh yeah, I'm with you on the Danny thing. As a general rule, I love gay-ISH (lol), flaming type guys but he annoys the heck out of me. I loved the rocker Amanda in the auditions but last week...YIKES! I don't know which was worse, her hair or her singing!
-
I think Carly is a great singer but not as GREEEEAAATTT as everyone else seems to think. I don't know why but I just don't get it. I love David Cook's voice but he gives me the creeps. His comb-over and his I dunno...arrogant looks he gives the camera. *shudders* However, I definitely thought his performance was best last night. Darnit. lol

Not anymore. He had the baby two episodes ago.

Thanks to your username I have an earworm!!!!! *sings badly~~~ give to me your leather, take from me, my lace~~~* It's a good thing I actually love that song or I'd be.... How many of the rest of you sing that song every time you see that username?

Angie, this overeating monkey on my back is hard to shake. I mean logically, why should fear of making myself sick stop me from eating bad things now just because I'm banded? It didn't stop me for 38 years before now and I knew I was killing myself. I need a LOT of headwork. This is how the chalupa saga unfolded... I went to get the pintos and cheese. Not too bad, definitely considered a mushie. So I rationalized it thinking, "A lot of surgeons tell their patients they can start on mushies after a week. Surely I'll survive since I've been banded for a week." So I drove through, saw my old favorite the Baja chicken Chalupa staring me the face and thought, "I'll get one and just eat the chicken. I'll chew it until it's gruel and that's like a mushie, right?" It was all downhill from there. I ate the chicken. The cheese. The lettuce. Then I thought, "I'll just nibble the teeny, tiny, super crisp edges of the chalupa. That can't hurt." The next thing you know....DEVOURED. I kept waiting for the feeling of imminent death to come upon me but I never felt sick at all. I had NO trouble getting the whole thing down either. I didn't eat the Beans at that time, though. I was way too stuffed for that.

St.LouisGal, I never would have guessed your location! =) I drove past St. Louis a couple of years ago but didn't get to visit the city. I've heard good things about it!
-
taismommy, I'm with you! We can go on a NYC shopping spree together! Wow. I cannot even imagine that! Jax, I'm jealous that you live in FL. I've only been once but it was delightful! (Of course, DisneyWorld really is the happiest place on earth!) =) Leather, I'm jealous of you too! My grandfather had the privilege of visiting every state in the U.S. and he told me Montana was the most beautiful by far. Because of what he said I got it in my head when I was little that I wanted to move to Montana and be a rancher. I've never even been on a horse! :confused2: I'd like to hear more about Alaska, also. I really have thought about moving there in recent years. Rhapsody, my sister went to school at Interlochen near Traverse City. It was sooooooo beautiful there!
-
Hey taismommy, my sister lives in Harlem! I'm going to visit her one of these days, probably next summer when I'm SKINNY BABY!!!! cowboysfan, Mansfield, TX. That sounds like such an All-American name. I love it!
-
Hooray for you!!!! That is so exciting! I hope you keep melting away! =)
-
Tina, I was banded on 2/25. Thank God I'm not craving sweets or I'd be in big trouble. Lisa99, Thank you for your concern. Of course I know that it is dangerous. That's why I said I'm stopping it today. You obviously do not have the extreme compulsive overeating issues that I have or your lapband journey wouldn't have been mistake free. Congratulations on your success!
-
Woo hoo!!!! That is exciting! You rock! (I suck.) That is all.
-
By the way, please don't come in with a lame confession like, "I only drank 60 ounces of Water today instead of 64." or you WILL be responsible for me killing myself. :bored: I need some dirt to make me feel better about myself, people!!!!

My thoughts the night before surgery

Oops, I just saw that you were banded already and this is a late post. Sorry for the belated good wishes! -
My thoughts the night before surgery
Gibson replied to misspeesh95621's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
What a wonderful writer you are...and you are beautiful! I hope your surgery went off without a hitch and with minimal pain like mine did. I can only relate to some of your post, though, because I hate my body. I truly despise it. While it is frightening to imagine what the future holds, I only have one thing to say to my 330 pound body...."Goodbye and good riddance!" -
*slides in Kramer style, slams money on the counter* "I'm out!" :w00t: If you aren't a Seinfeld fan, you won't get that at all. I've decided to bow out of this challenge until I can lose another twenty pounds or so. I know, I know, if I exercise as I'm losing I'll gain muscle, gain cardio strength, blah, blah....I am just not in the mental or physical state for it right now. I'm having lower back problems and the walking is exacerbating the pain so I WILL try again around 290. Keep up the good work, girls!

My surgeon recommends something called Liquafiber. It is flavorless and I add it to my protein drinks. It seems to help a lot so far.
-
Denise, my surgeon recommended Centrum Chewables and they are orange flavored. Not exactly my idea of a delicious snack but tolerable and they cause no stomach upset for me which is a miracle for a vitamin.
