Ok guys and gals, if we are going to be on this looooong journey together, we need to really get to know one another! Why don't we each start a thread so we can get some fun/getting to know you action going in here! I'll start....

Hey gang! I just wanted to give you a quick update on how I'm doing since I haven't been online much. I sliced my finger open with a cat food can and had to get four stitches so typing is NOT easy. I've also had a rotten cold that makes me sleep from the time I crawl in to work until I crawl back again. I've been peeking in on you girls though. I miss you! SOoooo, enough whining about me, I wanted to give the good news and the bad about my weight loss. The good news is that I've lost three more pounds in the last two weeks. The bad news is that I'm pretty sure that I'm officially the slowest loser in the Double V's. Oh well, at least I'm saving all of you from that title! I've lost 19 pounds in ten weeks. Which I suppose is exactly what the stinkin' doctor thinks is successful. (around 1-2 pounds a week), but I still feel like a failure. I'm not too discouraged, though. People at work SAY they are "seeing it in my face" and I think I can tell a slight difference in the way my pants fit. I'm going to keep on truckin'! Talk to you soon!

I'm so happy for you!!!! That really is a major accomplishment, FIFTY POUNDS GONE and soooo close to the 200s! I hope to be joining you in the 200s in a week or so. I know I'll be MUCH happier there!

Can you tell I'm trying to get this place hoppin'? =) I live in Kentucky but grew up right across the river in West Virginia.

...ok, so I know that ideally we will be grilling fish and steaming veggies for the rest of our lives but the fact is, I don't cook unless it's a matter of life or death. What kind of band friendly fast foods have you discovered? I'm lovin' Taco Bell's pintos and Beans or a Baja chicken chalupa without the shell.

Sorry Gang! Contrary to my posting patterns from last week, I am a confirmed workaholic and now that I'm back to school I work crazy hours. I have been worried about what I'm missing here so hopefully starting tomorrow night I'll be able to catch up on everyone! I miss you too!

I have a myspace page even though I'm way too old for that sort of thing. My brother is in Iraq and told me that was the best way he could communicate with the family all at once so I broke down and made one. Would anyone like to share their page? I'll PM mine to you if anyone is interested. =)

Ezma, I hope you are feeling better now. Tomorrow is my two month mark and I thought I would have lost forty pounds easily. Guess what? Less than 20. Less than 20 frickin' pounds in two months. I'm very upset about it and keep telling myself all the things I tell others, "everybody is different", "at least it won't come back this time", "you could have GAINED 20 pounds in two months", etc., etc., but still.... It's very discouraging. You know, if I had started out with a lower BMI I would understand but I'm frickin' huge!!! Oops, sorry, I'm turning your post into a post about me. I'm really looking forward to seeing your pics and while I can relate to your disappointment, you have lost SIXTY-FIVE POUNDS!!!!! I think you rock. =)

Oh man, I am snorting and laughing here. Michelle I think you and I are way too much alike! I don't think those fears are irrational at all! LOL Oh, and don't even get me started on spontaneous combustion.

If any of you are burglars or petty thieves, please don't read below. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . I just had a great idea of where to hide my valuables. In a Ziploc bag in the bottom of a litter box. No one would ever look there, right? This plan will be perfect as soon as I: A. Get rid of the cat that actually uses the litter box and B. Buy some valuables worth protecting.

I never have but I'd like to sometime. I used to be addicted to a Christian chat room about ten or so years ago though and I'm afraid I'll get hooked again. This is my spring break and instead of cleaning I've been here posting all week already, all I need is a chat addiction on top of this. Someone kick me out of here until I can accomplish something!!!

I've dieted all of my life (obviously not successfully long-term!) and tried all the tricks to break plateaus and the one that always works for me is having a couple of higher calorie days every week. It's against my nature to add calories since I've always equated weight loss with deprivation but it really does work, for me anyway. I hit 309 last week and I had been bouncing upward since then until I increased my calories for a couple of days. Now I'm back down to 309. Go figure. Good luck!

Jax, I have the world's easiest (and tastiest!) chili recipe. It's super simple or I couldn't do it! One can of red kidney Beans. One can of diced tomatoes. One package of Chili-O chili mix. (The best!) One pound of ground hamburger. That's it, honest to goodness and it is DELICIOUS!!! I like to buy those pre-diced onions and green peppers from the frozen food section and saute them and add them to the hamburger while it's cooking to make it a little more substantial. Good stuff!

Jaime, you know what I noticed about your face? In the first pic your mouth is like this..... :thumbup:, almost like a frown In the second pic your mouth is like this.... :I, getting a little happier maybe? Just think, by the time you keep posting these progress pics you are going to have a huge, radiant smile like THIS.... :smile: because you'll be so proud of yourself!

Yay!!! Jax is back!!!! Mmmmm. I love, love, LOVE chili and that is one of the few things I know how to cook! I think I might make some up and freeze it in small portions. Thanks for the new idea!

I had a cat named Gibson. I named him Gibson because he was the bravest of the kittens so his name morphed from Braveheart to Mel Gibson to plain old Gibson. Later I found out Gibson was a girl so the name choice was inappropriate all around! Anyway, I added the Gibson Girl as my avatar so people would know I was a girl and not make the same mistake I made with my cat. :smile2:
