  1. I'm June 25th in Memphis, TN. I'm excited, anxious, nervous... but I'm still sure this is something that I need to do. I have to be at the hospital at 6 am. I've got my house cleaned, the grocery shopping done, and my bag is pretty much packed for the hospital. Now if I can just get some rest tonight. Good luck to everyone!

    2 week pre-op liquid diet!

I'm June 25th. My doc requires 2 week "liver shrink" diet pre-op. High protien, low fat. I begin the 11th. I ordered protein powder today for my protein drinks. I'm so excited and a little bit nervous! Good luck everybody!
  3. I went to schedule my surgery today. My current surgeon's earliest surgery appt is August 28th. I really wanted to get this journey started sooner. Her partner could possibly do my sleeve end of June or early July. I've put in a call to see him to discuss this option. I don't really want to change surgeons, but I really don't want to wait 3 more months. Any suggestions or advice? I'm so discouraged right now...
  4. You are all right! Patience is definitly a virtue. Somedays I have it, and somedays I don't. I am going to see the other surgeon next week to see if I can get an earlier date. Either way, I'm having this surgery and I'm going to become a healthier me. Good luck to all y'all.
  5. I have been wondering how to tell and what to say to people at work. My closest friends know the truth, but i work with a lot of men who can be extremely cruel. I'm not ashamed of having the surgery, but i really don't want to hear any crap from my co-workers. I will tell my immediate supervisor because i trust him, but im thinking I'll tell everyone else that I'm having female surgery. That should shut a bunch of nosey fireman up real quick.

    Back to work!

Glad you're doing so well. I've been approved but haven't gotten my surgery date yet. I'm wondering how long I should take off... I drive a fire truck.
  7. I've also wondered about this. I heard or read that I wouldn't be able to take any extended release medicine for a while after surgery, but it seems that is not the case with my surgeon. A friend of mine was sleeved on April 11 and she was told to take 1 medicine at a time. I take 3 nightly medications and one morning medication. Didn't really want to have to change anything with medicines. Not taking nsaids is going to be hard enough.

Any June sleevers out there ?

I'll get my date on may 21st. I was originally hoping for mid-June, but my surgeon is 4-6 weeks out. So it looks like I might be getting sleeved the first week of July. I'm so excited to find out for sure. It seems like I've been waiting so long. Good luck to everybody.

How long were you off work?

I have been wondering this same thing. I have not been scheduled for surgery yet, but I'm well on my way to being approved. I drive a fire truck for a living so my job has the potential to be rather strenuous. I wonder is 3-4 weeks off will be sufficient.
