I absolutely love the Quest Cashew & Coconut!!!!!! -
I also had my surgery by Dr Umbach on March 8, 2013. I live overseas so I don't have any contact with the office except via email. I thought Dr Umbach was a great surgeon and I would recommend him to anyone. Actually, I have a few of my friends are having surgery with him soon.

I hate my pre op diet!
pacificpeach replied to softballmom's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I was self pay also. I had a 2 week pre op diet of 2 shakes and 1 lean and green meal. My Dr. stressed that is was to shrink the liver. They actually lift the liver to reach the stomach. -

Question - Subsidized by insurance because of hernia repair
pacificpeach replied to Bredred's topic in Insurance & Financing
I have a friend who was also self pay. Her total charge was $10,500 for the WLS. They then filed her insurance for the hernia repair and I do believe the ins paid about $3500.00. So, when all said and done her out of pocket was only $7000.00. -

Stall 7 weeks out
pacificpeach replied to schavez2010's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Make sure that you are drinking ALL of your fluids. I notice a big difference in my weight loss when I keep on track with fluids. I am also about 7 weeks out from surgery. -
March Sleevers - what does your diet consust of
pacificpeach replied to Jazzy1's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I am 5 weeks out. I am still drinking a shake for breakfast because it is easier and I bring it to work. Otherwise I am eating pretty much what I want but only healthy stuff. I have had strawberries and did not have any problems with the seeds. I am limited to about 2-3 ounces at a time. In the beginning I really had to learn how to slow down and take small bites. I had a problem with taking that 1 bite too many, and then everything came right back up! Another great tool is the myfitnesspal.com to keep track of calories, protiens and carbs. I am limiting myself to 600 calories a day and I try to walk in the evenings for about 45 minutes. My Dr. did not have me on a pureed food stage. He just told me to chew everything really well. It does help to see what everyone else is doing. -
Anyone w/ a BMI under 40 and self pay?
pacificpeach replied to Linkin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was self pay and had my surgery done in Las Vegas . I used Dr Thomas Umbach. He is awsome!!!! My surgery was outpatient, which I liked and I had no problems at all. If you pay cash it is 10,400, 11,000 credit card and they also have financing available. I would do this all over again! -
Any March Sleevers?
pacificpeach replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Are you all exercising? So far I have just been walking, but I see my weight loss the morning after I go for a 30-40 minute walk. -
...totally confused with the diet now...help, please!
pacificpeach replied to luckysmomma's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Again, every Dr is different. I was on clear liquids for 3 days then to protien shakes and protien soups thru week 1. Week 1-2 I implemented the "slip and Slide" diet which includes anything that will slide off a plate...cottage cheese, scrambled eggs, applesauce. I am also eating refried beans with lowfat cheese melted on top. My Dr also does not require a pureed stage. He said "thats what your teeth are for"! He did say to start with fish before chicken or meat. The fish will go down easier the chicken can bind at first. So, starting tomorrow I can start eating regular food and chew, chew, chew! -

pacificpeach replied to bdw's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I had my surgery in Las Vegas with Dr Thomas Umbach. He was incredible! He has different fee's for cash or credit. His cash fee is $10,400.00. He also does the surgery outpatient which I really liked because I don't like hospitals. His staff is also top notch. I would recommend him to anyone! -
