Dr's note from Dr in Mexico ?

I only took 1 week off from my classes, and I was able to return after that time, but I would caution you that everyone's experience is different. I'm not sure about a doctor's note, though.
  2. I don't regret my surgery at all. I'm 5.5 months out from surgery. I would suggest finding a local info session or something like that to get more information on the surgery. It's definitely something to research a lot. I was always told that the vertical sleeve did not have the same percentage of excess body weight lost as roux-en-y. It's a little less, but more than the band.

    Oh, she's lovely!

I'm sorry to hear about your miscarriage.

    Thinking of popping out another.

Wait. I'm 5.5 months out and we're going to wait until I'm closer to where I want to be. You had a life-changing surgery. Let it do its work so that you're not taking off the weight you have now PLUS baby weight afterwards. Let it just be babyweight.

    Too fat for c25k?

I started a HEAVILY MODIFIED c25k 6 weeks out from surgery. I asked my doctor at my 6 week follow-up and he gave me the green light. I went to a running store and told them what I was doing, and my budget. They found me perfect shoes. My shoes cost about $90. I started by jogging 30 seconds and walking 60 seconds, and worked my way up from there.

    Large sleeve!

My surgery group uses a 40 on everyone because they believe it is safer and has fewer associated risks. Good luck!

    Tastless protein powder?

I second Unjury. I LOVE it. Remember to get your food under 140 degrees before adding whey protein powder, though, otherwise you will cook the whey protein (much like egg whites turn opaque and separate) and it won't be pretty. I'd suggest buying the starter pack that they have, to start. It has samples of their flavors (I like chocolate splendor best) a thermometer for using powders in warm liquids, and a shake bottle that I use ALL THE TIME to make up my shakes and transport them. 3c of milk per day made into Unjury shakes (1 scoop each) will give you 24g for milk + 60 g for Unjury= 84 grams of protein!

cosmetic surgery and your lady bits

Mons Pubis is the medical term. A lot of tummy tucks pull this area firm at the same time. I agree about the poster talking about tailoring your clothes. This could be a good place to start.
  12. You look great! Congratulations!
  13. Wow! Please post again once you're more healed, too!
  14. I've slowed down a ton at 5.5 months out. I figured it was a change that happenned to everyone. I recently went back to 3 oz at breakfast, 4oz at lunch and dinner to see if that made a difference. This is what was suggested by my nutritionist for month 3-4, but says you can go up after that, and I'm doing good excercizing. I'm keeping a look on this thread!

Did awful on pre op diet

You messed up, but like others said, you have a little more time. Don't beat yourself up, just move on and do better.

    Congrats! You're doing great!

I just threw a napkin at my husband :(

Hah! Good for you! I'd throw a napkin at my husband if he did that, too. Buttheads.

    Gaining during surgery

Yep, I gained a bunch from surgery. It's just the fluids your body is retaining to help heal itself. Don't worry about it! Step on again in a week and you'll be amazed!

    Bizarre trend?

I've noticed this too. I would guess one person mentions and more people come out of the woodwork? I can't imagine ever regretting this... I'm five and a half months out, and I think the only thing that could make me regret this is if I had a late side-effect of my stomach removing itself out my nose, or something painful and unnecessary and impossible like that... hrm... That sounds like a fun game- what COULD make me regret this! :-D heh heh...

    Mom not handling this well

That sound really hard! I'm sorry you're dealing with this right before surgery. Good luck tomorrow!

    Tmi... Birth Control... After surgery

I am 25 and childless and I have paraguard, which is the copper IUD that you can have for up to 10 years. I love it. It didn't change my flow at all, which was fine, and was uncomfortable for the first week or two with cramps, but has been going great for almost 4 years, and I know I can get it out at any time. I think I'd have a problem with the ring, and I KNOW I've had problems with pills. I'm not great at remembering them. My doctors didn't care about my IUD either. I just had to tell them that I had it. They said that they like it when patients have IUDs because they have fewer accidental pregnancies during the 'sweet period' after surgery for weight loss.

Help! 2 wks out - not loosing

Don't panic- this is totally normal. Search 2 week stall on VST and you'll get a TON of information. I don't have the link to a super great article on the topic, but it's out there a bunch. Your body has lost the available Water weight and is now moving things around. This isn't always at 3 weeks or 2 weeks. It's at a certain point for each person's body. My doctor didn't want me to do any strenuous exercise (anything more than walking) until 6 weeks out, so I would keep the exercise pretty easy. Go for a walk every day! Good luck!
  23. I'm wondering what weight people use to celebrate from. I am -thisclose- to being 100lbs down from my heaviest, but I'm not sure if I should wait another 20 lbs beyond that to celebrate my "OH MY GOSH I LOST 100 POUNDS!!!" to get to 100lbs less than my surgery weight. Any ideas or suggestions? What did you do? For the curious folks in the back, I am 5'10", 25 years old, my highest weight was probably 330lb, surgery weight was 310lb, I now weigh 237.5lbs. I am 5 months out from my 11/16/2013 sleeve.
