    Anyone Regret Your Sleeve?

I'm with you here I really missed chewing food. While I'm only 3 weeks out and I am in the "purée" stage, I hate it. I really just wanted a hamburger patty with cheese on it!!! I dreamt about it and everything. So this week I have in and made a meat loaf. I was able to eat a very small portion, felt fine, held it down no pain at all and I was oh so happy! Later on in the week I just made a small amount of ground beef and put some a1 in it before cooking and it gave it as much flavor as I had been missing too! Just chew it all really well and I think if the meat itself is tender enough I wouldn't think twice about it!
  4. I've been having really trippy dreams too! I'm about 20 days out and they have calmed down a bit once the pain Meds wore off but my body is still doing loopy things so I don't think everything's worn off yet.

    Period at time of surgery?

I had mine during the time of surgery, I just informed the nurses and they took care of it. The anesthesia made it a lot lighter than normal so that was nice. But they still used a catheter and everything, no big deal. Those nurses see it all so they really don't care!

    Marijuanna

So glad I found this topic! I've enjoyed "the devils lettuce" for 10+ years now and wasn't accepting that I needed to give it up for surgery. As munches don't usually affect me, I was just under the illusion that smoke slows the healing process down. I've thought about cooking more with it, but to be honest I haven't had enough strength to make butter or anything else for that matter, and sadly didn't think of it before surgery... i smoked a small bowl about a week and a half after surgery, felt fine, continued about every other day, then one day last week I busted out my beloved bong And that TORE my throat up! Granted I just had surgery jan 23, I thought I had healed a little more than that! But since then I've not held back at all with my pipe, I didn't even think to use a vapor!! Thanks for the suggestions!
  7. I'm two weeks and a day and I've lost 18lbs 45lbs total, I feel great!
  8. I've selected to only tell those I'm confident wont judge me in a negative light. Maybe someday I will feel differently but for now I still feel .... Embarrassed? I wouldn't go quite to the ashamed road but looking back "why did I let myself get so big as to needing surgery to help me loose weight" But hey I did. That's that. At this point I'm only two weeks past my surgery date and I've lost an incredible amount of weight and feel so happy and giddy. All this being said I told the people closest to me that I trust. But people do start gossiping and word spreads, I feel slightly more comfortable letting people know since I'm seeing good results. Just follow your heart and you'll know what to do. For the people that I really don't want knowing I just tell them "I've been exercising a lot" and honestly that gets the pushy people to shut up (because deep down they don't actually want to exercise) and they'll leave it alone!

    Ibuprofen Alternatives?

Tylenol (which does nothing) and things like vicoden. No aspirin, NSAIDs, ibuprofen etc... This upsets me too, I don't know what I'm gonna take when I hurt!

    Help!

I was the same, I ended up sitting very still, put some really good earplugs in and an eye mask to shut out as much sound and light As possible. After about 6 days of that I was able to only have them on in the am and I could slowly get beyond them. I didn't have the tv on for at least a week ll the noise and movement made me nauseous and dizzy and I'd end up throwing up. So hopefully something like this will help you. Just know it will pass. I had to learn not to take all my Meds at once. Or even that would make me vomit. You will get there. Try letting the ice cube melt in your mouth rather than chew it. OH I almost forgot, I couldn't eat or use the ice from my own freezer, I could swear I could smell garlic or something on it (I'm a big fan of cooking large meals and freezing the rest for a rainy day) so that being said I sent my husband to the store for a bag of fresh ice. Just keep yourself still alternate sitting up and laying down, take LOTS of deep deep breaths, and know it will get better. I hope things start looking up soon for you! =)

    STRAWS AND GUM

I was told chewing gum after surgery you're more likely to swallow it for some reason, and in doing so it cannot be digested, and may become stuck in the stomach or get hung up on something and will most likely need to be removed. Meaning sticking something down your throat searching for it to pull it out. Sounds gross so I'm out! Haha
  12. That sounds adorable! How creative and that would be special to do that with my hubby!
  13. So a little over a week ago I hadn't surgery and my incisions haven't bothered me till now, they are extremely itchy and have red bumps like a heat rash around most of them, I'm pretty sure it's from the adhesive but does anyone know any remedies??
  14. I was sleeved on a Wednesday tafternoon and released the next day late Thursday afternoon. It's not that abnormal. Just rest a lot and take your Meds you'll feel much better in the days to come! It progresses significantly each day.

    January Newbies ! Progress ?

I had mine one week ago today and have lost 10lbs so far. Feeling better and better as the days go by! I'm pretty excited!
  16. I'm only 7 days out and feel the same as you so this would help me a lot too! Yay! Thanks
  17. So exactly a week ago today I had my surgery and feel I am healing very well, each day making more and more progress. I am able to walk progressively farther each day, take less pain Meds each day etc... However I have had this semi- continuous chest pain on my left side near my heart. Slightly above it but still a couple inches below my collar bone. It is at its worst when I lay flat, km pretty convinced its just gas. But it definitely has my attention. Sometimes making it difficult to breathe. I called my doc and was told to keep taking deep breaths, keep walking, make yourself cough occasionally, keep up in Meds etc. I've been doing all that and the pain is still there, any suggestions? Or something to help?

    HURT BY COWORKERS

I have found throughout life myself in these same types of situation, and I've come up with a pretty powerful reason ( at least in my own head). In this world there are three types of people: there are givers, there are takers, and there are "kind hearted wannabes "that don't want to step on toes but are truly oblivious to other people's feelings. I myself am a giver, and somehow always find ways to surround myself with other takers and one idiot. You can give and give and the people around you begin expecting it and get put out when they have to put forth just a tiny but of effort to keep peace. It is exhausting. The BEST thing I've ever done has been to completely walk away from all those relationships. I tried shutting them out emotionally and still kept myself around them, but then in their minds you just become a stuck up b***h ( excuse the sailor in me). I understand this is your place of work and completely get that it it virtually impossible to fathom "just walking away" from your job, but trust me deep down when you do, you will feel a huge weight lifted off your shoulders and you will sleep and feel good and will genuinely be happy. Keep surrounding yourself with other givers and remind yourself daily just how special you are and humble, and worthy of the best, and completely wonderful. Because deep down you know how to find true happiness in life -through giving and all those takers you know will never ever know that peace. Stay positive and surround yourself with only those that really love who you are and are like you. I truly am sorry you're going through this for I know it's a rough road, but look at what you just did for yourself, for your future, health. Be proud!!! Sending out love!
  19. It could be nothing but I just had my surgery Wednesday jan 23, 2012. While brushing my teeth today I noticed my tongue is white. What does this mean if anything?

I AM 82 LBS DOWN AND STILL LOOK THE SAME

Some people myself included can drop an immense amount of weight and only lose say 1-2 sizes tops. We carry the weight VERY differently than most people and its no big deal. I am a very tall person and I know my body doesn't look like it weighs as much as I do, but I can easily drop 100 pounds and still wear the same size.

    White tongue

Thanks guys. My taste buds are great so far, I can taste all my delicious yogurt and puddings, just have a white tongue. I will keep brushing it as usual and if it doesn't go away I will definitely talk with the doc about it!
