It's worth a look, Sally's usually has generic variations of all the products, and they usually work very well. I would check it out if I were you. Usually the people that work at Sally's know their products well enough to let you know if its the right thing for your hair. =) And no problem! I know how important our crowning glory is to all of us, and how heart wrenching it is to see it fall out in such large quantities, I'm glad if I can help! -

As a hair stylist--Nioxin is one of the best systems out there for thinning hair. In a nutshell nioxin was designed to really clear out all clogged hair follicles that get clogged due to various reasons. In a sense it will help grow your hair back faster, as it keeps all impurities out of the way. That being said, it is a CLEANSER. It will strip out all oils, the good along with the bad. So if you choose to use the system- use the whole system! If you choose just to use some of the products I would say alternate the usage. Or your hair will feel dry as well. Also, about the formula changing- most professional products sold "over the counter" so to say or at grocery stores etc... are either "watered down" or the formula has been changed to be sold to the public, or is even old expired product that unfortunately some cheapskates get their hands on and sell for double the price. Now this is not the case for all beauty stores, but more often than not this is the case. If I can make a recommendation of where the public can purchase the product, go to a local beauty salon (even places like Great Clips, and Ulta, or any Regis chain, for men Sport clips will have it) and buy from the professionals themselves - for little to no price difference. They have access to all the products you could ever need (and most if the time straight from the distributors) that is fresh and accurately labeled. As someone that's been sleeved- I am definitely loosing a lot of hair right now, but I choose to not use nioxin. As I still have a lot of hair and didn't want to dry out what was still relatively healthy. Good luck to all my fellow sleepers, hope this helps.. (Ps. Excuse all the grammatical errors, as it was typed carefully from my iPhone.) -
I used heating pads almost 24/7! I have a bad back as we'll. the recliner was my favorite spot. But I needed to hold someone or something to walk the first couple weeks. Then you will start getting a little stronger each day, so you should be able to move (not freely, but on your own) a little more comfortably. When it came to sleeping, I could only lay flat for about 2 hours to start, then I'd go back to the recliner, but always with my heating pad!!! If you can have someone massage you very lightly on your back to get some of the blood flowing little easier since you're not able to move that much at this point. These little things helped me until gained my strength back, hopefully it helps you as we'll! Good luck!

That's fantastic!! Congratulations! =) -
Okay so I know that we are supposed to lose hair. But I'm losing a substantial amount, as in I've lost more than half my hair, I even have two bald spots (both on the left side I my head). I've always had a full head of thick hair, so I'm not exactly freaking out about having thinner hair. I guess it's mostly starting to concern me because its not letting up. Does anyone know when it should stop/slow falling out as much? Or any info about the bald spots?? Or anything helpful!? Thanks all

My vaporizer was the best thing. I also cook with it, there are many ways to use it without smoking. I was more concerned with the healing of my body and the smoke aspect of it. But I've been using a few different strains since my surgery in jan. and they've helped a lot with any pains I have (I have chronic back pain and other issues that I use cannibas instead of taking pain Meds, it makes me feel better and a lot more functional than certain pain Meds prescribed by my doc.) I'd say you're fine if you know how to handle it. I talked with my doctor about it first, but he had no real concerns since I explained my method of consumption. Good luck to ya! =)

January Newbies ! Progress ?

Today officially marked my 85lb weight loss. I started at 300 and now am at 215. I was sleeved 1/23/13. I haven't really set a goal, ( more like just curious how much i can lose) but I am proud of myself. It's been hard let me tell you.. -
I have this issue also, I am mildly anemic so I've never worried, I'm just careful. But I've heard many other people in my support group have this same issue, most are not anemic. I'm just guessing our bodies are changing so significantly so quickly the blood flow and everything is re learning how to travel through our bodies, so were a little more fragile in that way.... That's my guess =) hope it helps

Can Inhave a table water cracker?
Kellyj574 replied to ajeeprider's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Shhhhhhhh don't tell.... I couldn't choke down the puréed foods, (the texture was making me gag) so I just ate softer foods and chewed really really well (I know it all ended up being the same texture in the end, but it made me feel better in my mind haha) . I healed really well and had no issues. Just be really careful with it! =) good luck! -
Slightly controversial drink (wine, spirit, beer) poll
Kellyj574 replied to Fiddleman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I live in the Napa Valley, so wine country... I work at a winery, my job is to know what I pour. That all being said I had my surgery late January, so not quite 4 months ago. Lately I have been enjoying one or two beverages per day. (Horrible I know, usually it's just a small glass .. less than 2 oz. of wine which by itself kicks me in the bum! ) However this past weekend I moved, and bought all our helpers beer, and have to say it tasted sooooo good!!!! I drank it very slow a. Because I couldn't physically go any faster, b. I was scared, and c. I was tipsy by the time I got 4 sips in. Hahah So I'm also realizing that my scale isn't going down as fast as I want it to (no **** Sherlock I know I know) so I'm going to be buckling down again and just have water, and maybe treat myself once a month or so =) Not a crazy story I know, but it's mine =) -
Thank you!!!

So I'm coming down with a cold, what can or cant I take Meds wise? I'm concerned taking some things due to my strict Meds "no no list" from my doctor, but it didn't include any common cold Meds. Help! I want to sleep again! And breathe!!!!

January sleevers......what's your weight loss so far?
Kellyj574 replied to pottergirl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
36 lbs since January 23. Putting me at 64lbs total! Go me! =) -
My husband and I only waited a couple days, and we were fine. Like others sad start off slowly nothing crazy, but I'm only 5 weeks out and we can do crazy again no problem!
-
Yes you'll be fine. I'm also just past four weeks out and I've smoked just about every day for the past two weeks and have been fine. Just try other options before resorting to smoking, it's better in the long run for you.

issues with Mirena
Kellyj574 replied to Tstorm1070's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have mirena and I haven't had those issues, I did get a mild bladder infection a few weeks after surgery, but nothing else really. Maybe it's just your body doing an abnormal menstrual cycle after surgery.
