My doctor submitted to Cigna earlier this week. All paperwork followed their policy. We will see! -
Long term Mexican surgeries success?
CCRNonherway replied to marielove's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Does anyone know if insurance will cover complications for surgery done in MX (if there are any?) -
Cigna has been paying for my nut visits. She is on their list of approved providers. I would start there.

I just had my consult today. They said Cigna requires a 3 month diet history. I have a job where I travel every week. The coordinator said it did not have to be MD supervised and suggested Weight Watchers online. Has anyone done anything like this with Cigna's approval? I was under the impression (from research) that I had to have 3 months of MD supervised dieting. Thanks!

Nut visits by phone?
CCRNonherway replied to CCRNonherway's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yay! I found someone local who will "see" me via Skype. She also sees out if state patients if anyone is interested, please DM me. -
Here's my dilemma. Coordinator told me 3 month diet history was all that was required. Print out WW progress notes and all will be well. However everything I see about Cigna says I need a 3 month supervised diet by a RD or MD. I have attempted to find someone local without success--as I don't want to waste 3 months. I'm already 5 weeks into my diet. So here's the problem. I travel for my job and am away from home from Monday am to Friday pm. It doesn't leave much time to see anyone. Do any of you have a nut that does phone visits for out of state patients? I am willing to pay cash. I appreciate any referrals! Thank you.

Nut visits by phone?

I saw her today for my consult. She only does the assessments. No ongoing evals. I was hoping she would, that's why I waited before figuring something out. -
Nut visits by phone?

Here's what it says...doesn't sound like it has to be in person? Medical management including evidence of active participation within the last 12 months in a weight- management program that is supervised either by a physician or a registered dietician for a minimum of three consecutive months. The weight-management program must include monthly documentation of ALL of the following components: weight current dietary program physical activity (e.g., exercise program) Programs such as Weight Watchers®, Jenny Craig® and Optifast® are acceptable alternatives if done in conjunction with the supervision of a physician or registered dietician and detailed documentation of participation is available for review. However, physician-supervised programs consisting exclusively of pharmacological management are not sufficient to meet this requirement. -
OMG...psych eval freak out!
CCRNonherway replied to flmama's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Had my psych eval today. Very simple test about eating and one about depression. Mostly spent time exploring feelings about food and the role it plays in your life. I'm not sure how they would be able to diagnose any psychiatric issues other than depression from what I went through today. I found it helpful. -
Meeting with Surgeon next week
CCRNonherway replied to fergie0308's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just had my first consult last Monday. We decided that the sleeve was appropriate. Discussed pros and cons of each surgery type. He focused mostly on my medical history. Listened to my heart and lungs and looked at my abdomen. Then I met with the coordinator. This was the "fun" part where I learned what was needed and hot everything scheduled. Endoscopy tomorrow morning! -
Life after Gallbladder removal
CCRNonherway replied to AnneG's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I have yet to have my sleeve. However I had my gb removed years ago. The purpose of the gb is to store bile which helps to breakdown fat. If I eat a high fat meal the bile pours out and rips up my intestines. I have never had anyone tell me I can't eat carbs. I would think the post sleeve diet would be ok for you post gb.
