I like cold Myoplex Lite (chocolate fudge flavor) so much better. Isopure made me feel very nauseous about a half hour after I drank it. Hated the taste and after-taste. My suggestion is go to GNC but only buy 1 or 2 bottles to try. It is also pretty expensive.

When do I feel restriction?
pianomom replied to dgryan74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 5 1/2 wks out from surgery and wondering how much in ounces I should be eating at this point? I am on pretty much regular foods right now such as chicken, fish, baked pork chop, cooked vegetables. I have heard 4 oz but not sure if that is right. I eat 3 meals, 1 snack and a protein shake each day. -
When do I feel restriction?
pianomom replied to dgryan74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I agree. Once I started more regular foods (4 wks out), I began to feel the "full sensation". It is hard to explain it, not painful, but uncomfortable. As soon as I feel it, I stop eating and I have never had an issue with throwing up. Sometimes I also feel it if I drink too much too fast. I find if I do feel uncomfortable, walking around helps a lot. -
Who still loves to eat after being sleeved?
pianomom replied to angelamarie79's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I still like to eat, just a lot smaller portions and more protein. I wouldn't want to not enjoy food any more; it's just important to control what I eat & how much. I am learning to turn my love of cooking into becoming creative in ways to cook protein and use spices etc. in order to achieve variety. -
I am about 5 1/2 weeks out and I am hungry a lot, too. I have found something warm to drink seems to calm the hunger a bit. I am also trying to eat every 3 hours to see if that helps. I am on 20 mg of Omeprazole.

Slow loser? Worried about being a slow loser? Why being a slow loser is pretty awesome
pianomom replied to Sassafras's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't do any exercise that your surgeon hasn't approved. You sure don't want to end up back in the hospital. I am 5 weeks out from the surgery and have only been approved recently for the exercise bike & of course, from the beginning, walking. I am hoping to be cleared for the gym when I go back to the surgeon on 2/14. Just be sure to follow your surgeon's instructions; he has a reason why he gives them to you. -
All of my December sleevers...
pianomom replied to blkdiamond377's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sleeved 12/26 and down 45 pounds total; 28 pounds since surgery! -
That is the best thing I have had since my surgery! Sooooo good!

I bought 2 of the salmon pouches and mixed them with 1 egg, tuna, seasonings, small amount of lemon juice, dehydrated onions and 1 scoop of protein powder then made salmon patties "fried" in a skillet sprayed with Pam and 2 tsp. of Can't Believe It's Not Butter LITE. They were really good and soft to eat with lots of protein!

Getting in fluids...
pianomom replied to LindsayRN's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
For the soup, be sure to get the lower fat kind. The yogurt sounds good; I'll have to see if I can find that! -
Thank you for a new perspective! I just realized last night that I had gotten up off of the sofa easily as opposed to the old way of huffing, heaving, puffing....it's easier to get in and out of the car, clothes are getting too big and I need to clean out my closet for the 2nd time since I started this journey. I still can't walk a long distance or do a long time on the exercise bike but those things will come also one of these days. So much to celebrate (46 pounds total, 29 pounds since the surgery 12/26)

I can hardly wait to try these! I'm going to make some for lunch today! Thank you so much for such a wonderful, easy recipe!

Hating Myself & Afraid Less than 6 Weeks Out...Long Post...Needing Support
pianomom replied to deedeemuffin's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have the book, "Weight Loss Surgery Cookbook for Dummies", which I found on Amazon. In the front of the book, it has a LOT of information to help with each stage of the post-op diet. There are also a lot of recipes & tips and each one specifies which stage of the diet it is for. For protein shakes, I am using one cold Myoplex Lite (chocolate fudge flavor) per day, usually in the morning. The rest of my protein is from the meals...3 meals per day and 1 snack before bedtime, usually 3/4 cup of Wheat Chex in fat-free milk. It is very important to sip water all day long and get in those meals and snack so that you feel satisfied. Best wishes...this isn't easy but we knew it wouldn't be and it will be so worth it! -
Getting in fluids...

Try Myoplex Lite (chocolate fudge flavor). I like it cold; it tastes just like chocolate milk and doesn't leave that awful after-taste. You will find as you are further out from the surgery, it will be easier to get your fluids in. Try small sips all day long instead of big gulps. -
Should it be this easy? 3 days out, no problems with drinking at all.
pianomom replied to HikeEveryMountain's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I was one of the lucky ones, too. I had no throwing up and very little nausea, was able to keep water and other liquids down right away. I am now 5 weeks out and tolerating many foods now (cut in tiny bites). So far, the only thing I have had a problem with is the cheese sauce from Unjury. I only feel a discomfort when I am getting full, then I just STOP EATING and I feel happy with that change in myself! Good luck! -
I had my surgery on 12/26 and have been doing great! I have lost a total of 47 lb with 30 lb since the surgery. I am getting all of my water and drinking 1 protein shake per day. I have been feeling a little bit shaky (I am diabetic). Any ideas?

Can I drink coffee with caffeine?
pianomom replied to Iweeny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told by my surgeon that I can have nothing with caffeine in it because the stomach is so small now that only a little bit of caffeine causes problems. Decaf tea, decaf herbal tea or decaf coffee is fine. -
I can hardly wait for warmer weather so I can start a walking program. I am also going to be cleared for the gym on 2/14. I had my surgery on 12/26 and am using my exercise bike at home to help some.

I had my sleeve on 12/26 and I have found that I need to take stool softeners. The first day or so, I also took a Dulcolax with the softeners but now if I take the softeners every day, I am staying regular. I also read that eating oatmeal will help and I am eating a small bowl of Wheat Chex softened with fat-free milk before I go to bed at night. Hope this helps!

What is average weight loss for 1 month?
pianomom replied to taffyscorner76's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I started out weighing 294.5 last August. My surgery was on 12/26/12 and I have since lost 27 pounds for a total of 43 pounds. I have been in a stall for a couple of weeks but this morning, I had finally lost another pound. I am trying to focus on measuring my food, drinking lots of water & exercising. I start the gym after 2/14 so I think that should help with the weight loss.
