  1. I am sitting in pre-op. I've had my blood thinner and anti-nausea med, IV is in. I go into surgery at 12:10. I am still totally calm. I think it may be because I lost a good friend suddenly 2 days ago. Her death at 30, although probably unrelated to obesity, has reinforced my desire to be healthier. I will post again this evening
  2. I leave in an hour and a half for my surgery. I am completely calm. Weird? I am so excited to start my new life!! Good luck everyone!!!

    So scared...

I felt the same way once I got my surgery date. I had nightmares and got shaky when I thought about the actual procedure. Now that I am two days away from surgery I am no longer nervous. I am really excited and ready to meet the new me!

    Pre-op diet and diet coke

Hi Susie. I was a diet Dr. Pepper junkie. I tried cutting back but I just kept breaking promises to myself. You may be able to stick to just one soda per day. I found it to be nearly impossible. I went cold turkey a couple of months ago. I had a hellacious headache for about a week and I was miserable. Once that was over I was great! I have extremely long days and find that I do not need the boost. I drink crystal light all day long and I start my day off with decaf coffee. I have not cheated at all since I quit caffeine. I think it is important to go through the withdrawals before surgery. I know how hard it is. Best of luck to you!!
  7. Me too! I am so freakin' excited. I'm going shopping this weekend so my kids and I are ready for the first few weeks post-op. I don't have to do a pre-op liquid diet so I'm not struggling too much. Superbowl Sunday will be a challenge though. Best of luck to you!
  8. Congrats on getting this far! I, too, am counting down the minutes until surgery and wanting to eat EVERYTHING. Just remember...you're gonna be a skinny b!tch soon :) Unfortunately, being skinny doesn't taste like cake....mmmm...cake.

    Roll Call!

Hi all! My name is Cathy. I am a 34 year old single mom of 4 teens ages 14-17. I am scheduled for surgery on 2/6. My personal goal is to fit into my 15 year old daughters clothing (size 7) and play football with my boys without feeling like I am going to die. I have always wanted to do more outdoorsy stuff - rock climbing, rafting, etc. - and I am looking forward to having a body that accommodates that type of lifestyle!
  10. Hi everyone:) I am new and I am getting sleeved on 2/6 in Richmond, CA. Needless to say, I'm EXCITED!! I have been having surgery nightmares lately...apparently I am scared too. LOL Is anyone else from the bay area?

    Pureed Foods

Thank you all so much! I was really starting to worry about this stage. The baked ricotta sounds yummy. Now I have some ideas about what to buy to be prepared

    Pureed Foods

Hi all, I am scheduled for surgery on 2/6 and I am trying to get everything (work, home, kids, kitchen) ready. I am good with the stage 1 and 2 foods, the pureed foods however....not appealing at all! What worked for all of you? I have been told that baby food (stage 1, meats) is the easiest to manage. There has got to be a more palatable alternative! Thanks
