  1. Bravo Fiddleman! Thank you for highlighting him.
  2. Too much energy spent worrying what others think. The time spent making up stories and over explaining could be spent doing something else. This subject unfortunately will never die. I'm comfortable telling others about my surgery.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Good suggestion. I would love to be able to view important topics without using the clumsy search feature.
  4. This is the go to place for quick answers to my questions, can someone shed some light on this issue. I've noticed some post-op patients have experienced depression and mood swings and this made me nervous. Does everyone go through mood swings/mental changes after surgery? If so, why? For those that did experience these changes, did you see a therapist post surgery? For those who have NOT experienced mood swings/depression, why not you? Thanks for your responses.
  5. Don't kick the dogs.... I'm getting nervous, now I don't know what to expect.
  6. Popsicle, thanks for sharing. Much success with your journey.

I'm still pre-op and can't offer any tips, but you look great!
  9. Thanks Fiddleman, I'm glad to see a man's experience, and nice to see that the depression lifted.
  10. Hey Apelt001, I hope the counselor helps, I wish you well.
  11. It's Valentine's day and love is in the air......all this love has me thinking: How are your relationships after surgery? Has your relationship gotten better or suffered? For those dating, how is your love life, better, worse or the same? What about loose skin, how does that impact your relationship, if at all? Thanks!

    Relationships and Dating after surgery

You go girl!!! How were your dates?
  14. I'm sorry I overlooked this. I haven't had the surgery yet, but I've always been fitful sleeper. I need 8-9 hours of sleep or I'm very crabby!
  15. I didn't know that lack of sleep is a side effect, I don't sleep well as it is. I can't imagine getting any worse.
  16. Some questions about post-op pain for the women: On a scale of 1-10 with 10 being the most painful, how severe was your pain? Was this pain attributed to gas? Was this your first surgery/abdominal surgery? Were you nervous/scared prior to surgery? Was your surgery performed in a hospital or Surgical center. How many days were you in the hospital? Was your surgery in the US? What type of support did you receive post-op at home? Thanks everyone in advance for your responses, your responses will help me tremendously.
  17. OMG, I don't know what to think now, thinking positive thoughts for a complication and pain-free experience.
  18. I pray my moods are steady and calm, I soooo don't want to be a mean and angry person. :tongue2:
  19. How did you mentally prepare for the surgery?
  20. thank you Suzie, I hope my outcome is similar to yours.

    I'm not telling.

Hi everyone! I'm very new to this and still researching drs but I think I'll let tell everyone. My cousin had bypass surgery a year ago and was very open with me. She is the reason I decided it was time for me to get this weight off. I hope that my family will be very supportive.
  22. Thanks for your responses, can I ask one more question? How long were you in pain?
  23. I've been perusing the forums and have noticed what seems to be a lack of post-op instructions. Is this something that I would need to address early on with my nutrition/surgeon consult, or is this information generally provided at some point pre-surgery? Post surgery do you continue to meet with a nutritionist for diet adjustments? Thanks for your help.
