  1. I'm looking for Sleevers that started their journey at 5'6" tall and weighing between 225-235 range. Let's hear your monthly totals please. I'm 54 years old and was sleeved on Jan. 21,2013. At 4 weeks post op I had lost 16 pounds, 216.. Started at 232, I've been toggling between 217 and 216 for about 10 days now.

    Drinking with Meals?

Does anyone know the reason we have to space out our drinking with our meals? Is this something we have to do forever? I am 2 years out and haven't been doing it for a while now and wonder if it would help me get back on track. Someone had told me that was only while you were newly sleeved. I'm just trying to understand.
  3. Ok Veteran Sleevers, for those of you that are still rocking that sleeve with no backsliding, kudos to you, you are Rock ⭐️Stars! BUT, for those like myself that have left the "rock ????band" to pursue another career and want to get back onstage, I'm challenging you to join me in a 10 Day Rock Tour! (Please forgive my witty puns here, gotta keep my sense of humor in tack) Here's my plan to get those unwelcome 20 ????groupies (pounds) off my stage (body). 1. Take my "act" on the road. ????????Walk/run at least 3 miles EVERY day. No excuses. If it's raining ☔️I will walk on the treadmill or go to a mall and walk. The 3 miles is in addition to any normal walking I already do. This will get me ready for a 5k which is about 3.1 miles. 2. Drink at least 8 glasses of Water every day. No, Rock Star ????energy drinks don't count. 3. Try a new ????song (diet plan) I'm going to try the 5:2 song. (If you don't know what that is you can search it on this forum or google it) Basically try switching things up or go back to the basics from when you were first on tour (sleeved). 4. Report daily to this post with my success. ???? 5. Measure myself before???? and after???? 6. Log ????food, water and exercise. Then party like a Rock Star ????????????????when I complete the challenge and win a Grammy! Who will join me?

10 Day CHALLENGE to get back on track!

Sorry I've been missing in action! I got pneumonia and it derailed me. But I've got to get this party started again!

10 Day CHALLENGE to get back on track!

I didn't have a good day yesterday. Let an argument with my hubby derail me and I gained a pound this morning! But I will not let it continue. Back on track today!

10 Day CHALLENGE to get back on track!

Day 1 went good. I got in 82 grams protein and 18 carbs, and 1340 calories. Drank 6 glasses of water (which is huge for me, I usually drink none). Lost 1 pound.

    Regret

Bless your heart. You have made it though the toughest part. Hang in there and I promise you it will get better and better every day. There are lots of folks on here to give you moral support but I know you need more. Maybe try reaching out to a local church if you don't already have one. I'm sure there is one that could offer some help.

10 Day CHALLENGE to get back on track!

Well you are totally going to rock that bet and win that money!????sounds like we were in about the boat. I was around 154 at Christmas and now I'm up to 172! Ugh. They changed my thyroid meds but it hasn't helped. I'm a zombie by 1pm everyday and I'm constantly hungry.

    Thyroid Out of Whack

Thanks for the advice. I bought some coconut oil a few months ago and have yet to try it.
  10. Gained 15 pounds since Christmas and hungry constantly! Had my thyroid checked and my TSH was .005. Normal range should be .45 to 4.5 is what I've read. My endo had changed me from synthroid to Armour. So now they are changing me from 105 Armour to 60 Armour and 75 Synthroid combination. I'm really hoping this will turn things around and help me lose that 15 and another 15 to reach my goal. Has anyone else dealt with this and did it help?

    Thyroid vs weight stall

I have been really struggling. I had lost from 232 (Jan 2013) down to 154 in 1 year. Then no weight loss last year. And suddenly in the past 3 months I've gained 15 pounds. The endo doc had switched me from synthroid to Armour Thyroid. Reg doc just tested and said my TSH was .005. He is going to give me 60 Armour and 90 synthroid combination. I'm praying this helps my weight loss back on track.
  12. I was sleeved in January 2013 and lost a total of 80 pounds in the first 12 months. Even lost through the holidays last year. But since I hit my 1 year mark over 6 months ago, NOTHING. I've even gained a few pounds and have to get tough to drop them back off. I don't even feel like I had surgery. And lately I'm SO hungry. Ugh!
  13. I am about 1 1/2 years out from my VSG and I've lost around 80 pounds. Really need a complete lower body lift, arms and breast. I wanted to see how the scars look after a year and maybe at 6 months. Mainly worried about the scar that goes completely around your lower body. I've found lots of pics, but none that show how the scar actually looks during the months or years after. If anyone would share I would greatly appreciate it!

Feel like my surgery "expired" at 1 year

Since I first posted this I have gained almost 10 pounds! Ugh! But I know that I have only myself to blame and I CAN and WILL turn this car around! I obviously got disoriented and started driving up the scale instead of down. Well not anymore! I'm in charge of this journey and I'm responsible for reaching my destination. Yes there have been road blocks and detours that have gotten in my way, but it's up to me to get back on the road and put the pedal to the medal! Anyone else going my way?
  15. Has anyone been told if it's okay to go back to taking a baby aspirin at some point?
  16. How much to you eat per day in calories? Do you count protein, carbs etc?
  17. Thanks to this forum and all of the reading I do on success and positive thinking, I've compiled a list of ideas that I've found helpful in our journey to be healthier and slimmer with VSG. I hope you may find something that will help you, whether you're a newbie or a veteran. 1.. I know it will be hard, but try cleaning out your kitchen of foods you shouldn't eat. it's a lot harder to go and drive somewhere to get bad food than it is to just reach in the cabinet. if you have others in your house that you are buying the junk food for, talk with them about how this is hindering your progress and give them healthy alternative Snacks as well. donate any unopened foods to your local food pantry. 2. Surround yourself with positive affirmations. Read motivational books, music, dvds etc. I am a Christian and Bible scriptures and prayer help me. 3. Put a picture on your fridge, mirror, car dash and so forth of the ultimate look you want to achieve, whether it's a pic of how you use to look or a pic from a magazine of how you'd like to look. 4. Find your Mantra and post it everywhere as well. This mantra can change weekly, monthly or whenever you need a new one. (such as "just do it", "walking makes me sexier", "I AM a gorgeous woman". Speak as though you ARE what you want to become! 5. Plan your meals and snacks out for a week in advance, or at least a day in advance. then shop and stock your kitchen with these items. this way you aren't tempted by bad foods because you had nothing good in the house to eat. 6. if you don't have a tracking method, this is a MUST. there are numerous apps for iPhones etc. some populate ones are Lose It and My Fitness Pal. If you don't have a smart phone, then buy a pocket journal to write everything you eat down and buy a pocket nutrition count book that list Protein and carb counts. 7. If you have trouble with Water intake, try getting some of those cute insulated tumblers with lids and fill up several for the day and keep in the fridge, when they are all empty you know you've reached your goal for the day. 8. Set alarms on your phone throughout the day as a reminder to drink your water or to eat your protein. 9. Get a little lunch cooler or insulated lunch tote and fill it with string cheese, bottled water, Greek yogurt etc to have in your car when running errands so you aren't tempted to get fast food. 10. Set weekly and monthly goals with rewards or celebrations for achieving each goal. 11. Make a Vision Board to represent your new life when you reach your ultimate goal weight. I have on mine a cute swimsuit, parasailing, hiking etc. 12. Find a form of exercise that you enjoy and set goals to add exercise into your weekly routine. It could be dancing, tennis, volleyball, badminton, softball etc. it doesn't have to be just walking or running. Try a different sport each month to keep it fun. 13. Keep a calendar and organize your life to help keep stress down, so you can focus on you journey to better health and a happier life! I'm typing this on my iPhone, so please disregard any typos. Please let me know if any of these ideas help you. God Bless and give us strength to achieve our goals and pay it forward to help others succeed.

13 Ideas to Help Your VSG Journey

I just pulled out these tips to help me get back on track. I've got this!
  19. Oh and I was wearing a size 18W in pants & dresses and an XXL in other clothing. Now I'm wearing a size 8 in pants and dresses and actually needed to go down to a size 6 in a skort. I have to get a medium or small in tops. I keep thinking the clothes are all marked wrong. I don't ever remember wearing a single digit size, even when I weighed the same. (Around 152-156).
  20. I'm 55 years old and 5'6" tall. I was a slow loser compared to most. So don't get discouraged if you don't lose as fast as others, as long as you are following the rules it will come off. started Jan. 2013 Date. Weight Lost. TTL Lost jan 21- wt 232 day of surgery feb 21- wt 217. -15 pds mar 21- 206. -11 pds (26 total) apr 21- 202. -4 pds (30 total) may 21- 191. -11 pds (41 total) june 21-185. -6 pds (47 total) July 21-180. -5 pds (52 total) Aug 21 - 175. -5 pds (57 total) Sep 21- 169 -6 pds (63 total) Oct 21- 167 -2 pds (65 TTL ) Nov 21-162 -5pds (70 TTL ) Dec 21-158 -4 (74 total) Jan 21-154 -4 (78 total) Feb 21- 154 -0 (78 total) March 21-154 -0 )78 total) April 21- 159 - + 5 (73 ttl) GAINED 5pounds! Does excercise help with excess skin?

That was a very enlightening article. It made me realize that I don't necessarily have excess skin in my stomach and arms, it's actually saggy fat. Lol. But either way I want it gone. I guess what always troubled me was that the people on the show Extreme Makeover Weight Loss edition were working out heavy for 4 hours a day and they still needed plastic surgery at the end.
  22. Feeling frustrated. sleeved 1/21/13. started at 232, today I'm 166, down 66 pounds. I'm 5'6. but the past month I haven't lost, actually gained 2 pounds. I don't feel restriction at all. I've had a lot of personal stress with some serious family problems. so I've turned to foods I love. yes I've been drinking diet dr pepper and very little water. my boobs are like 2 day old helium balloons, my buttocks fell off and my skin......ugh. I am VERY grateful to be down 66 pounds.......but I need to lose at least 20 more, 30 would be great. I need some motivation, not a lecture.
  23. I'm just reading this again tonight and I think I should print it out and post it around my house. I will add my mantra, which is "I'm frustrated but not defeated! I may not win every battle, but I will win the war and be victorious!!"
