Sleeved Monday June 10 feeling Bored
jsmith100 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was sleeved on Monday and now I'm at home (since Wed). Usually when I'm at home and not working, my days are set based on what we are going to cook, parties with the neighbors etc... I woke up this morning and realized, wait a minute I can't do that anymore. That left me thinking on what in the heck I was going to do today and every open day going forward for that matter. I thought about going to the casino, but that's going to get expensive fast... Any ideas on things to do to get past the first few weeks on this journey? Sleeved Monday June 10 feeling Bored

I did start learning a new hobby, problem is the temps are now in the high '90s or over 100... I can't stand to be in the garage messing around. A good book sounds like a pretty good idea. I will give it a shot. Hopefully it will not put me to sleep, I'm tired of sleeping. I followed the diet to the letter, but I plan on asking the doc if this much this fast is acceptable. I will post back on his response. JS -
I was sleeved Monday and home Wednesday. That hasn't stopped for me yet, but the pain is much less than what it was. Make sure you try to get a quick walk in every couple of hours. It helps the gas pain tremendously after about the 4th or 5th walk. JS

June 10th...4 weeks! EEEKKK!
jsmith100 replied to wordygirl74's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I was sleeved on the 10th. How are all of you doing? I'm a little sore, but in good spirits and not hungry at all... So far for me it has been lemon/lime Water, sugar free snow cones , half a Protein shake per sitting (two times a day) and a diluted protein shot (those things are too sweet to take head on IMO). Any way, the journey has started. I'm here to help pick y'all up if you fall during this long journey. I'm an open book ! Sleeved by DR Kim in Texas (Dallas metroplex) on June 10th. Reason for sleeving: kick my diabetes to the curb. Height: 6' 2" Age 39 Starting weight: 273 BMI 35 Health at surgery: poor (diabetes, heart attack at 32 while playing volleyball, on 10+ medicines) Current weight 247 (-26lbs) Current health: improving daily, off the insulin pump, all diabetes medicines discontinued except metformin. I will check back in later. Jeremy -
Hi folks, I had my surgery on Monday... I want to remind you all after surgery the Gas is going to be miserable. Walk, walk, walk, even when you don't want to, walk. You will thank yourself for it, trust me. Jeremy

hw much to u lose ur first month
jsmith100 replied to Dee White's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm five days out and lost about 20lbs since Monday (down from 269 day of surgery to 247 this morning). I started with a low BMI 37.5. I did the surgery to lose type 2 diabetes... So far I'm off the insulin pump and on just metformin. I won't care about the scale as long as the diabetes keeps moving in the right direction Good luck all! Jeremy -
Hi Britt, I was sleeved Monday, but I didn't have too many issues handling Water. However I really didn't give water too much of a chance to handle me. Try squeezing some lemons or limes in your water. It definitely goes down quicker if not smoother. As far as the gas, you have to kick that couch to the curb. Walk walk walk!! Good luck. Jeremy

Hi folks, I'm not sure if this is the right area, but I have a question. I have my date set for May 24th, I received all my clearances with one stipulation. My cardiologist does not want me to stop taking aspirin. I have a couple of stents that he is basing his decision on. Did any of you have problems with this? What was the solution? I can't believe that standing between me in poor health and me in better health is one small baby aspirin. If anyone can provide guidance on this i would greatly appreciate it. Jeremy

Go into this with your eyes WIDE open
jsmith100 replied to MrsGina's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
How is your diabetes MrsGina? I'm on the same insulin... I haven't got my date yet, but i do keep wrestling with the decision... I'm doing this for diabetes mainly as my BMI ranges between 34 and 36... If it doesn't improve my diabetes i will certainly be disappointed with my decision... Jeremy -
Hi, I started the process for the sleeve, but like everyone else here at one time or another i have doubts. I want to shed the pounds and be healthier, but my main goal is to get rid of or reduce my dependence on diabetes meds and insulin. Has anyone here had diabetes for a long time and got improvement after the surgery? I would love to hear some diabetes related success/disappointments stories so that I can better set my expectations. Jeremy
