Maybe by the time you are done with this, you'll be wearing size 12 cords!

I'm so sorry you are having to deal with another setback. Will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.

Y'all are sickos!

Holy cow! Why do people watch the procedure? If I had watched it, I know I wouldn't have done it! Hell, when we were in childbirth classes they showed us the movie of a baby being born vaginally and then c-section I had to close my eyes and cover my ears! I'm a big wuss in that respect. I want to go to the market and pick up my nicely packaged meat. I sure don't want to see how it is slaughtered and processed. sometimes ignorance is bliss! At least for me anyway! How many of y'all watched the procedure before having it done?

Fat girl nightmare realized and conquered!

Whew! Ann Taylor has become one of my favorite places. I almost cried the first time I bought a top there! I was so thrilled! One of my other favorites is Talbots. Do you have those in your neck of the woods? -

Foreign Travel after Surgery - How difficult is it?

So, do you still get as tickled as I do when I buckle my seatbelt and and have all this floppy extra seatbelt that I no longer need? I can't help but flap it back and forth for a minute while I'm sitting a seat that I no longer am squished into and with my legs crossed. Sometimes, it's the little things. -
Problem with Nosy Co-Worker! Need Advice!

I'm sorry you are experiencing that kind of treatment. I don't know why people think it is ok to ask such personal questions. For me personally, I don't feel obligated to answer every question posed to me. When people ask me how much I've lost, I say "a bunch." Or they ask me what I am doing to lose it, I say " I'm working really hard." After that, my good graces are gone and the next question is received with "Wow! You sure are asking al lot of personal questions." Usually, they will stammer something to the tune of well, I was just curious. My response is "yes, I can see that." At which point I turn and walk away. I have never had to do this with someone twice. I try to keep things polite with people but after it is established that politeness is only flowing one way, it will continue until you make it change. -
what foods are you able to eat after surgery and ones you can never eat again
newat52 replied to traciej1's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am 9 months post op and I can eat anything. I started having steak about 3 months out. Hubby and I love steak but we share a 5 oz filet. We have one every week with a nice bottle of red wine. We steam up some broccoli and he has a baked potato with it. I Sometimes have piece of a small potato or sweet potato but its not hardly worth making me since I only eat a bite or two. It's not off limits though. I had my first pizza yesterday. I could have much sooner but I have chosen to avoid breads and carbs till the end of the year. I gave in and had 1 piece of thin crust yesterday, and yes, it was a good as I remember. It was a small piece but I enjoyed every bite of it and don't regret it. I have not had a sugary dessert except one bite of one that hubby and I had on vacation. It was really good but it was enough. There is nothing you won't be able to eat. If you follow your plan 85% of the time, your plan will work for you. -
Foreign Travel after Surgery - How difficult is it?
newat52 replied to 1Day1Life4Now's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I started traveling about 6 weeks after surgery. Just when I was cleared for all food. It was much easier than I thought. I have traveled at least once a month every month since. It really is not an issue. For me, I take some beef Jerky. I don't normally eat it because its high in sodium, it is great for travel to ensure I get my Protein. I also take roasted edamame. Another good source of protein when you're not eating on schedule or have something that is not high in protein. In the beginning, I also took nectar Protein powder drinks to add to Water. If you can get your surgery on Feb. 11th you will be almost 4 months and you will be feeling amazing! Have fun! -
To echo one of the best Wisdom Wizards here,(yes, Laura, that means you! ) no. The sleeve is NOT the easy way out! And, if it were, so what! Do you wash your clothes by hand or take the easy way out and use a washer? You get my drift….thats one of the things people say that just irate the bejesus out of me….I digress……NO, this is not the easy way out! If you could do it on your own, you would have done it. I couldn't do it on my own and keep it off. It is what it is. Lastly, so what if you have loose skin? I had loose skin before surgery and I have it now. I have saggy boobies too. I can live with that. Victora's Secret has some awesome boobie lifters! Who knew?? I was self pay as well and I would do it again in a heartbeat! Even if it means no plastics later. I'll take the health, happiness and newfound active and much longer life. Just my 2 cents.

Cuddle Duds. Best. Thing. Ever. That is all.

Everyone's pre op diet seems different but….sugarfree pudding makes a great post op soft food choice. I took my sugar free pudding added milk and Protein powder. It helped so much when I had a hard time getting in the calories and protein that I needed. Hope this helps! Best of luck to you. You will love your sleeve!

If you want to keep your surgery private, do so. You are under no obligation to share anything with anyone. You owe NO ONE an explanation. You can say you were tending to a medical issue and you are feeling better. Thanks for asking and change the subject. Take your journey the way that works best for you. If you want to sing it to the world, do that. If you want to keep it private, that is your right as well. Remember, just because someone asks you a question, you are not required to answer it. Good luck! You will love your sleeve!

I don't know I am 9 months out and it's as bad as ever!

I ordered another set yesterday. I am so freaking cold with all this ice! Thank goodness for Amazon Prime!

My opinion is that what you are feeling right now is pretty normal. It takes awhile. You have only been eating regular foods for a couple months. It was hard then. But hang in there, you will get to the point where it won't bother you in the least. You'll be able to eat most anything but you won't want a bunch of it and you will enjoy your food even more. I find for myself, I can eat anything but don't really want to eat a lot. I still love to eat and every once in a while I wish I could eat more but those episodes are fewer and further between. Hang in there, it does get easier. One of the motivations for me is I wake up every morning and before I get out of bed, I for lack of a better word, start feeling myself up! lol! I feel hip bones, curves, not bulges. Who knew I had hip bones? I even feel my boobies, they are getting smaller by the day! ( I want small ones) The changes in my body are enough to bound me out of bed and do my best to make good decisions! Sorry if the feeling myself up is TMI but I would bet just about anything I'm not the only sleeved who does that.

Are You Happy That You Had The Sleeve Procedure?
newat52 replied to love to be at goal's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Would I do it again? Hell YES! I was self pay and it was a bargain at twice the price. BEST thing I have ever done for my health! What did I wish I had known pre op? I wish I would have know how bad the constipation can get if it gets out of control. If you don't have a BM with 5 or so days after surgery you need to get things going. I was on full liquids for 3 weeks. Isopure and Protein shakes. Don't let anyone tell you that no solids in, no solids out. When you are consuming nothing but protein you will need to poop. The first few months post op you will be getting a lot of protein and very little to no Fiber. No bueno. I became so constipated that I was writhing in pain to poop. don't let this happen. Be proactive and throw some Miralax into your shakes or take some MOM. Other than that, surgery and recovery were markedly easy. Good luck, you will love your sleeve. Just remember to walk and sip, walk and sip. It will help so much! -
Did You End Up Back In The Hospital?
newat52 replied to Ree's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I spent one night in the hospital at surgery time and have had a easy recovery. It seems like a lot of people who end up back in the hospital is due to dehydration from not being able to get enough fluids. -
I promise, you will love them!

Yes, Life is different but I still would rather be cold and get warm than be hot ALL time and try to cool off. It is much easier to get warm than cool off! Yes, cuddle duds are da bomb!
-
Freezing ALL the time. Has not stopped for me one bit! Cuddle duds. Best underwear ever. Can't be without them! Or my heated throw. Also, it takes a bunch to get me sweating at the gym now. Before, I just walked in the door and started sweating. So weird since I'm probably better hydrated than ever!

I was sleeved in March. I have been very cold since surgery but in the last month or so I have been having hot flashes. I am 53 and was assuming it is hormonal. I was checked last year at my annual but was not there yet. I am due in March so it will be interesting to see if it's menopause or not. The hot flashes are not bad but just irritating, especially at night. Throwing blankets off then freezing two minutes later.
