Please don't judge me. I see why people said you can become an alcoholic after surgery.

No judgement here! How far from surgery are you? -
life without garlic = if I have to choose garlic with farts or life without garlic, I'll take the farts anyday!

I am one month post op today. Yay me! Life is so good! Surgery and recovery have been ideal. Did 3 weeks of liquids and 10 days so far of soft foods and learning how to treat my new tiny tummy. I have been good to it thus far by following my post op diet to the T. My new tiny tummy has in return, treated me exceptionally well. I believe we are going to get along just fine. My stats after one month are 13 lost on pre-op and 17 lost since surgery. Again, yay me! Now for "the thing" My stats are NOT the most important thing!! WTF?? I didn't see that one coming! At all! I have not lost a single pound in over 10 days. I know by the million and ten OMG! I'm 3 weeks out and hit a major stall what is happening to me my surgery didn't work threads that the chances of my scale getting in on that action was was pretty high and sure enough, my scale is determined to be the life of that party. This too shall pass. What I didn't see coming was "the thing". During this adjustment of not losing weight, my way of thinking has taken on a life of it's own. It did not freak out, didn't run for the nearest Taco Bell or Margarita with Mexican food. Every time I stepped on the scale it would say your body is going through a huge adjustment and it will catch up. Be patient. I would step off the scale shrug and think yep, still adjusting. No big deal. Maybe even a good thing? I have made huge changes and I am still adjusting to them, so to be fair, my body needs time to adjust as well. I am listening to my body, giving it what it needs and it won't fail me. I know this now. I have never known this before. When did this happen? I don't know but it is coursing through me and I plan to never let it get away. One month out and I feel different. I physically feel better, I know I look better, but most importantly, my outlook and new knowledge feel so powerful and I know that I am in control. It may take my body longer to get to the healthy weight that it needs to be but "the thing" is, it will get there. I know this to be true now. Finally.

One Month post op and "The Thing".
newat52 replied to newat52's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, the 3 week stall seems have more posts than any other subject so I was not surprised at all. It's just good to know that it will pass and the journey will continue with or without the scale's approval. That is a beautiful thing! -
Dieting after Surgery
newat52 replied to Toyaboo22's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am only a month out today but I'm guessing you already know the answer to what you need to do. Get back on the eating plan that you lost the weight with after your sleeve. It worked then and I'm sure you know it will work now. If you think you can go on a "diet" then I'm sure you can stick the the healthy eating plan of you post sleeve plan. Good luck! you can do it! -
My dr. has had me on pepsid chewables from the time I got home for 3 months. I take one twice a day and have not had a bit of heartburn. Even when I was on liquids I could take them and my chewable vitamins.

Whew! scared me there for a minute. I thought my brother was here. It's what I used to call him as a kid!.

Pain comparison to broken ribs?
newat52 replied to Yaya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Drugs. They are there for a reason. Ask early and often. Stay ahead of the pain and nausea. I was all over it for the 1st 48 hours and never had nausea and was off pain meds about 3 days out. I am pretty sure I didn't need all I took but nausea and dry heaves were something I wanted to avoid at all costs. -
Pain comparison to broken ribs?
newat52 replied to Yaya's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I don't think it will be that uncomfortable. Having had two c-sections and my sleeve on March 6th. Never had cracked ribs though but imagine that would hurt more. This was far easier. Yes, for the first week, a sneeze is your most feared thing. It was mine. Coughing was almost as bad for the first 5 days or so. sleeping was uncomfortable for the first 5-6 days but mostly because I am not a back sleeper and it was the only way I could sleep. After a about 5 days, could start sleeping on my side more especially with some creative pillow placement. One month out tomorrow and life is good. Really after a week, all was well in my world, even with these pesky spring allergies. Have sneezed up a storm the last few weeks and all is good. If you can handle the cracked ribs, you will just fine my friend! You got this! -

Any March Sleevers?
newat52 replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh my! I was so worried about you! I'm so glad you are ok! Get some rest and keep up the deep breathing! Thanks for checking back in! -
That ricotta back sounds yummy! I make my marinana from scratch so I have tons in the freezer!

I love my protein spiked sugarfree pudding. I take 1 and 1/4 cups of skim milk and a scoop of unjury unflavored protein powder but i guess the chocolate would work too. Blend in in a blender and then add 1 small box of chocolate pudding (instant) and blend it put it in two bowls. Chill it a bit. Each serving (based on two servings) is about 100 calories, about 15 grams of protein. I can eat one when I don't want to have a full meal. Or for desert before bed. I can eat a serving in about 30 minutes. Where you are right now it may be 4 servings so nutrition would be half. You could put two scoops of protein powder in and get twice the protein.

Best wishes! They will probably give you a happy drug before you go back to relax you. I personally think the spouses need it too. See you on the losers bench! You will love it! Check in when you can!

When do you drink you shake?
newat52 replied to TexasMiss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
65 grams of Protein is good. If you only need one shake to get your protein in you are doing fantastic! I do two shakes per day. One for breakfast and one like you at night. I'm getting about 90 grams per day. 30 in the morning. I do either a Mocha type shake with coffee, milk and chocolate Protein powder or a half a banana, milk, Water and vanilla protein powder. My night time one is the premier chocolate. Its great protein and desert for me! I read an article that talked about protein being important for breakfast, post work out and before bed. It helps the body heal and recover. Getting the rest from food. I'm 4 weeks out so eating canned tuna, salmon and chicken as my other sources of protein. I will be glad when I am 3 or so months out and have a good feel for what works for me for my new forever! So far, I am loving my sleeve and thinking my sleeve is loving me! -
You should be proud! You look amazing and you have such a positive, beautiful attitude! A person to aspire to in many ways.
-
I agree on both counts! And love the crystal light drops!
-
You bet! I not at home right now but will get it to you in the morning. I make a bunch at a time and freeze them. Take out just what I need. Promise I will have it in the morning!

Any March Sleevers?
newat52 replied to futuresleever's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hey Diva T, How are things? Have not heard from you, hoping and praying you are ok. Check in when you can! -
Try the unflavored in sugar free pudding. I get a small box and add a cup and 1/4 of skim milk. In a small blender blend the milk and one scoop of Unjury unflavored Protein. Then add the pudding and blend it till its mixed well. Divide in two bowls and you have about 15 grams of protein and desert. I can not taste the protein in the pudding because it almost double strength. It is about 100 calories so it can be a snack or meal.

Where the heck is my restriction
newat52 replied to lwilliams65's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know Costco carries them and I am told Sams does as well. If you don't have a membership you probably know someone who does. They are very reasonably priced about $22 for a case of 18
