Off track

I don't think you were venting. It clearly looked to me that you are owning your mistakes and taking control. That, my friend, is a huge VICTORY in this battle!! You know what you need to do, you were not making excuses and you are ready willing and able to get back to the basics that helped you succeed in the first place. That could and I'm sure will be me at some point. I am an "all or nothing" type personality. I'm all in or all out. I don't understand this word "moderation" that people speak of. That is going to be my biggest learning experience. I understand we can't go though life with a perfect diet %100 percent of the time. It's ok to have a day or on vacation where you splurge, it's getting back to basics that will be my challenge. You are doing great!

Vacationing after surgery

You will be just be getting on to normal foods and finding out what you are ready for. Just a word of caution, most people have a set time for "liquids then soft foods then regular foods, but you will have to take it as your body is ready for it. For example, some people can eat a hamburger at 3 weeks and some don't seem to tolerate it till 12 or so. You should be in a place though, where you will be able to go to a restaurant and find something you can eat at that point. Bonus: You will also be much more comfortable in a bathing suit! Yay!
4. I was 220 with BMI of 40 so that makes me on the lower BMI scale. My highest weight ever was 231. I am 5'2". My problem is I would diet every Jan. and would lose 30 pounds. By Dec every year, I had gained back. 2 decades of this. Not healthy. At all. This year, I have lost the 30 pounds and they will never, ever find me again. I don't know what my weight will be at years end but I know it will be much lower and I know with every Fiber of my being I will be healthy and well. For the first time in my adult life. That is why I did it! Good luck with your decision making!
5. Big ole congrats to you! What a transformation! Especially the BP and vitals. You must feel on top of the world!

Sleeve vs. lapband

I had intended to get banded but after research and consulting with the doc, for me, I didn't want to have to maintain the band with fills and such. The port thing gave me the heebee geebees too. 5 weeks out now and am very happy with my sleeve. Good luck in your decision making, I'm sure you will figure out the best solution for you.
7. Wow! First, congrats! You must be in shock! I'm sure the room is spinning, but man oh man, good thing they found out now instead of next week! I guess it's true, life happens while we are busy making plans! Congrats again! I can't help but smile for you.

Cleaning Incisions

I was instructed not to put any ointment or cleaning. Only showering. for 6 weeks.
9. Other possibilities that can contribute to that besides lack of carbs is where some of your vitamin levels are. Might want to have that checked out. I think for me, I am going to have some labs done every 3 months for the first couple of years. Just a thought.

Foods that keep you full?

Indeed! Gotta say, I'm a bit jealous. That has been far and away, my biggest issue! :(
12. This is the post I made on last Saturday when I was one month post op. It took awhile to put my feeling to words but it ended up saying what I was feeling so I am going to copy it here. It answers the question for me and what I have received so far from the procedure. The title of the post was One month post op and "The Thing" I am one month post op today. Yay me! Life is so good! Surgery and recovery have been ideal. Did 3 weeks of liquids and 10 days so far of soft foods and learning how to treat my new tiny tummy. I have been good to it thus far by following my post op diet to the T. My new tiny tummy has in return, treated me exceptionally well. I believe we are going to get along just fine. My stats after one month are 13 lost on pre-op and 17 lost since surgery. Again, yay me! 'Now for "the thing" My stats are NOT the most important thing!! WTF?? I didn't see that one coming! At all! I have not lost a single pound in over 10 days. I know by the million and ten OMG! I'm 3 weeks out and hit a major stall what is happening to me my surgery didn't work threads that the chances of my scale getting in on that action was was pretty high and sure enough, my scale is determined to be the life of that party. This too shall pass. What I didn't see coming was "the thing". During this adjustment of not losing weight, my way of thinking has taken on a life of it's own. My brain did not freak out, didn't run for the nearest Taco Bell or Margarita with Mexican food. Every time I stepped on the scale, my brain would say your body is going through a huge adjustment and it will catch up. Be patient. I would step off the scale shrug and think yep, still adjusting. No big deal. Maybe even a good thing? I have made huge changes and I am still adjusting to them, so to be fair, my body needs time to adjust as well. I am listening to my body, giving it what it needs and it won't fail me. I know this now. I have never known this before. When did this happen? I don't know but it is coursing through me and I plan to never let it get away. One month out and I feel different. I physically feel better, I know I look better, but most importantly, my outlook and new knowledge feel so powerful and I know that I am in control. It may take my body longer to get to the healthy weight that it needs to be but "the thing" is, it will get there. I know this to be true now. Finally.

edamame - friend or foe?

I have not had them yet but I love edamame! I was thinking they would be a great snack if I needed a little pick me up. I am thinking since the our goal is protein first, the fiber gets tossed by the wayside and that edamame would be an excellent choice! I have not experienced any slider issues and have avoided foods that I thought would, so If ya care to be the guiena pig for me, it would be mucho appreciated!
14. You will rock it! Drugs. Stay ahead of the pain and nausea. Don't wait for it to start. Ask early and often. I did that for the first 48 hours. They work wonders.
15. Umm....where are you going and are we invited?

6 wk check up

Great job! Keep it up!
17. If I am being honest, I love my sleeve at a month out and am not missing the food but I would KILL for a frozen Margarita! Can do without the chips but that sweet, tangy, freeze brain of a concoction is something I miss!
18. First of all, good luck today and speedy recovery! I second the advice to walk and sip. It's the biggest favor you can do for yourself! Second, All you need to do is inform them you will have someone staying with you. You tell them, don't let them tell you. Be assertive! My surgery was less than an hour. My hubby stayed with me, was only there one night because I was fine the next day. Somehow, I got parked in a beautiful two room VIP suite! When I was awake and got up to walked, I looked around and asked hubby if they thought I was someone famous?? Still don't know how that happened but I sure wasn't going to ask questions! lol! Was shame to waste it with just me.
19. Wow! Chris! Not to get off subject with this thread but a big WOW to you on you success thus far! I noticed your ticker and looked at your profile. Way to go girl! Way to go!
20. I'm so sorry you feel that way and I so hope you will be able to find happiness with your sleeve. Yes, you are in the minority, but that is how you feel now and I would hope you are not slammed for it. There are probably things that contribute to your feelings that people here have no idea about. I really do hope you will be able to find the peace you seek, we were sleeved on the same day so I feel a slight kinship with my fellow March 6th sleevers. If you ever need to talk, you can message me. Hang in there, you may be surprised.
21. I am a month out and like you, my friends, family and my social groups are based on food and wine! While I have kept a low profile since surgery, I will be getting back into the swing of things this coming week. What I have noticed with my friends, is that we are all too busy talking to notice what anyone else is eating or not eating. You most likely will not want most of the food and once you are about 6 months out you will be most likely to eat any thing you want, just small amounts. I plan to enjoy my friends and family, enjoy the company and still eat right for the most part. I plan to have have a glass of wine when I'm out but just not at home every day. Life will be so much better when you feel healthy and you are past the surgery and recovery and you know what your new tummy can handle. It's just overwhelming now but it won't be. (That's what they say anyway) I believe them. To answer your question, not one single regret, in fact, everyday I feel so sure in my heart that this is the right path for me! I'm sure you will too!

3 Days In and already down

The best part about the first two weeks is that the weight just melts off! It's enough to keep you going through the 3rd week stall. Congrats!

HELL YEAH! Great job!

Any March Sleevers?

Was sleeved on March 6th. Eating is good for me. I have followed my post op diet closely. I have not had any nausea from surgery or after. I measure out my food. No more than 1/2 cup total and then I set a timer. If I am done with the food within the 30 minute timer I'm done. If the timer goes off before I'm finished, it take it away. So far, this is working for me. I was on 3 weeks of liquid and been about 10 days soft foods. Trying to eat very slow and make the best protein choices first and fiber second. So far, so good! Good luck!
