    Big Baby

Like MichiganChic said, you just had major surgery. Only worry how you are doing and don't compare. Listen to your body. Get as much rest as you can and sip, sip, sip. Sipping is a full time job and it is tiring. It will get better. But do try and get your Protein in, it will help more than you can imagine. Have you tried Isopure drinks? Far and away the easiest way to get that protein and liquid in at the same time. All sorts of flavors. 2 grams of protein per oz! I thought the grape was the best but there are plenty to choose from. Speedy recovery to you. In a couple of weeks, you will be so glad you did this.

    Please be honest...

Lots of different views but for the most part it has to do with the fact that it can act as a diuretic and keeping hydrated in the beginning is essential. Also, it can cause acid relfux. That is my understanding.

    enjoying my drink

You rebel, you! Enjoy! That is, afterall the whole point of the surgery. To enjoy in moderation.

    Please be honest...

I fessed up to the NUT yesterday for my session. She said as long as it doesn't adversely effect you, such as are you getting all your liquids in? Does it set ok in your tummy? If so, a cup is just fine. For me, I am well over the 64 oz of liquids and have no acid reflux. I do take a chewable pepsid twice a day per my post op instructions. Another bonus is it helps me poop! I know TMI but it really does.

    Please be honest...

I was doing decaf for about 3 weeks. Then I did half caf for a few days and now regular. I make one cup and usually drink about half. Good stuff. It makes me happy.
  6. I WAS a BMI of 40 and self pay. I live in the Dallas area and paid $12,200. Lots of excellent surgeons to choose from in my area. My surgeon was not the highest by far and not the lowest. My experience was wonderful and no stress or hoops to jump through with insurance. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and now a BMI on just under 35. I would do it again in a heartbeat! Good luck to you!
  7. Seems like my tummy needs to wake up first. That is why I really enjoy a protein shake. It takes over an hour but then after that I am ready to roll for the day.
  8. I had two c-sections and I am here to tell you recovering from the sleeve is much easier! That is the honest truth. There have been lots of comments on this site over the last few months and that is the overwhelming majority of c-section patients who have also been sleeved. You got under control!
  9. Oh, and I meant to say, GREAT JOB on 80 pounds! That is amazing! Woot Woot!! for you!
  10. Getting your 64 should not make you dehydrated but increasing never hurts. If you are getting at least 50-60 grams of Protein per day as well, I would think you are sick. Flu is one thing that comes to mind but now maybe bladder, kidney infection, uniary infection??? if it hurts to lift your arms. Would most certainly have it checked out, infection of some sort is screaming in my head but probably the mom in me. I hope you feel better soon, you should have tons of energy.
  11. I am 5 1/2 weeks out and I can certainly understand. Honestly, the pre-op time was the worst. I think it is 10X harder than the recovery itself. Perhaps easy for me to say, I had a remarkably smooth surgery and recovery. I truly think our mind is our own worst enemy. Hang in there, your time will come and you won't look back! Except of course, to look in the mirror at your new skinny backside!
  12. Is this since your surgery or just recently? If its just recently, I would say flu but if it's been awhile you need to be checked again. Increasing your water is always good but on a normal day are you hydrated enough? Before the increase, how much water are you consuming?
  13. newat52

    week long STALLLLLLLL! any advice?

More Water for sure. A liter of water is only about half of what you need. good luck.

    Gallbladder

Can you clarify? Insurance covered your WLS but wouldn't pay to have your GB removed and now that it needs to be they won't pay for it? Or are you saying now that there is an issue with it they have to buck up and pay for it now?

    Any March Sleevers?

Are you a March sleever and do you know the secret handshake?

    Anyone here from Texas?

If you look at his seminar schedule you can find one to go to. He actually conducts them himself. You get to meet who would beting you. Him. I think that speaks to his dedication. He has an office on Spring Creek. He did my surgery at Forrest Park Frisco so that was 10 minutes away from my house. The hospital is brand new and very nice. Some how I ended up on one of the 4th floor VIP suites. It's actually a huge 2 room suite. Swanky! The nursing staff was top notch and Dr. Nicholson leaves orders for pretty much whatever meds you want. Only thing have to go down to Forrest Park in Dallas for is the NUT appointments so it's not often. If you are self pay like I was, his office knows how to make it easy. No hoops to jump through or red tape. Very good experience.
  17. Good grief! Where do you live? I live in the Dallas area and choose to stay stateside for my self pay surgery. We have lots of top bariatric surgeons to choose from here. My all inclusive cost was $12,200. Not the least nor most expensive in the area. I chose my surgeon based on patient feedback, experience and reputation. Included all pre op consults, pre-op testing, hospital, OR anesthesiologist, and up to two nights in the hospital, (I only needed one). Also includes follow ups for life. No loops to jump through. Although, I wonder how this would have played out in Mexico, my routine pre-op EKG showed an abnormality. I had to be referred to a Cardiologist to have it checked out. When I went in and they did the EKG it showed the same abnormality. Scared me to death. I had to come back and do a stress test to get clearance for surgery. Turns out, the "abnormality" is perfectly normal for me. But never having one prior we didn't know that. The surgeons office made it so easy, as soon as they got the results back, they were able to give me several Cardiologists to call and was able to get an appointment right away. They walked me though the whole process. It was just seamless, the whole process. Sorry you are having such a rough time of it, with self pay it should be that easy. That is my stateside experience and you have heard from the Mexico sleevers so sounds like you would have several great options other than paying an arm, a leg and first born child to have it done where you are! Although....there were times when my first born was a teen...probably would have given him gladly!
  18. Again, I'm sorry if what I say seems harsh. I'm just keeping it real. When I say eating poorly, that includes eating too much. Is your protein dense protein? If it is, you should feel the restriction, if not, like I suggested before, check with a Dr. You say you eating too much an not exercising. That is why you are not losing weight. I don't know how else to answer your question. I'm sorry you don't like the answer you are hearing, but it's the truth. You asked for help, I gave you suggestions. I can only hope if I am in the same boat someday someone will be honest enough with me to tell me the truth, even if I don't like the answer. I wish you the very best of luck in your journey, I'm sure there are Dr.'s, NUT's and other professionals in your area that can help you. This site is a great place to get information and exchange thoughts and ideas but nothing can take the place of your health care providers. Again, best of luck to you and wish you nothing but the best!

    Half way!

    Woot! Woot! Congrats! :)
  20. Bit of tough love here. You are not losing weight because you are not following the diet required to to make your sleeve work. Your sleeve is a tool, not a magic wand. You must use the other part of the tool to make it all work. Pure and simple. Did you think you would be able to fall back into the eating habits you had before and be successful? If you did, as you can see, that does not work now, just as it did not work prior to your sleeve. You have your answer. I'm sorry if it seems harsh, but that is the reality. We all have times when we have our pity party. All of us, we are not perfect but seems like now would be a great time to end yours and get yourself back on the program. Its not to late. Get help. Go see the NUT. Go see the DR. Again, sorry if it's coming across as harsh, but sounds like you are looking for a magic solution. There is none other than hard work. You say you would love to follow the eating plan? That is great but you need to decide if you would love to lose the weight and follow the plan more than you love to eat poorly.
  21. newat52

    Help! I'm afraid...

I really don't think it could be answered any better! Only thing to add upon is #7. Yes the liquid diet gets old but think of it as healing your new tiny tummy from the inside. And thank goodness YES moving on to puree or soft foods is like magic on the crankypants part! I actually kissed my can of refried beans!
  22. If it were me, I would ask myself these questions: Am I following my diet? Really? Am I tracking my food and Protein and calorie intake? ALL of it? Am I getting all my needed liquids each day? Honestly? Am I following the rules of protein first, veggies second and carbs last? Really following it? Am I exercising? Regularly? If yes, to all, I would ask my self while looking in the mirror and looking myself straight in the eye. If the answer is still yes, I would go get checked out with my doc and have some labs run.

    Anyone here from Texas?

Dr. Nicholson is great! He is one of the most experienced surgeons in the the field. He has a great bedside manor. I like the fact that when you go to the seminar, he is the one that conducts it. I think that speaks to his dedication. My surgery went extremely well. LOVE the fact that he does the leak test in the OR so as soon as you are back in your room they are giving you ice chips! Ask anyone who had to wait till the next day to have Water or ice chips! I am just over 5 weeks out and my incisions are healed. Forrest Park is a great facility. I was in the Frisco one and the staff there were great. I was self pay so I had none of the hoops to jump though. The cost, $12,200 is all inclusive. I did receive a couple of bill from misc. places, like radiology and such but by the time I received the bills and called, they were already zeroed out by Dr. Nicholson's office. All in all, I would choose him again. We are so lucky that we live in an area where there are SO many great choices of top notch surgeons to choose from! Good luck in you decision making!

    Anyone here from Texas?

I am in the Dallas area and I used Dr. Nicholson. He was excellent! Mine was not a revision but just a sleeve.
  25. You have lost an average of 7.6 pounds per week. Not sure I understand why you are upset?
