    Unjury?

I agree with JustSayMoe, some folks talk about changing taste buds after but mine are the same as before. I still like what I like and don't like what I don't like. That said, I have not craved breads and carbs but that is most certainly because I have not had any refined sugars or processed flour products in months so the cravings are gone, and I'm going to keep it that way for as long as I can! :-)
  2. Now that you are 7 weeks out are you feeling normal again? I know I am. Things are falling into place and not every waking moment is filled with am I getting enough Water and Protein. Meals are coming easier and the drinking is old hat. Now that dietary restrictions are lifted for me, I am trying new foods everyday. Have even eaten out a few times and my new normal is fantastic! Hoping the same for you!
  3. wow. Wow. WOW!!! You look fantastic fellow March 6th sleever! Hope feel as amazing as you look!

    in need of new shoes

Don't know what area you live in so it's hard but I live in the Dallas area. We have several athletic shoe places that will fit the shoe to you. One is called Run on and the other Luke's Locker. The idea is they will start you out in a few different shoes and you try on a lot until you find "the one" we get our shoes there and I have never came out the the shoe that I went in with the mind to get. Everyone's foot is different and the right one for you is not the right one for your friend. We have always been happy with everything we get there. I'm sure there are places like that if you live near a city so that is what I would try. Good luck, I'm sure you will put many miles on those shoes!

    Unjury?

unjury is a good product. It's not overly expensive and I like the the chocolate, vanilla and unflavored. I did get the chicken broth and used it a few times but I like my hot things hot and cold things cold. The Soup can not be heated above 140 degrees so for me it was luke warm at best. I use the chocolate to make a mocha. The first few weeks after surgery I would use the chocolate and take my left over cup of decaf and put in the blender and make a mocha. After a week I could add skim milk and that is yummy. I can have regular coffee now so that is even better. I use the unflavored in sugarfree Jello and unflavored or chocolate to spike sugarfree pudding. Great way to get good Protein in those early weeks. There are several other kinds of protein that you can get in those early weeks. Isopure is probably the best protein bang for the buck. It's considered clear liquid and comes in lots of flavors. Has 2 grams of protein per oz. You can get it at most health shops and on amazon. Also nectar, Protein Powder is very light tasting and again on the the clear liquid phase so it gives you some different choices than the protein shake. Hope this helps! Good luck!

    HERE IT GOES...

A nice read as I sit here with my morning coffee and my yummy Protein shake being sipped leisurely with my straw. Really.
  10. I am 7 weeks out and I love my shakes. I have actually been having them for several years. Loved them before surgery and just as in love with them now. Lucky for me, my taste buds have not changed much after surgery except scrambled eggs are not as appealing as they were but I all of the sudden do love me some banana in my shake. I make mine with a few frozen strawberries, half a banana and about 1/4 cup of frozen blueberries, 6 oz of skim milk, about 1/2 cup of Water and vanilla Protein powder, (and for now a teaspoon of miralax) and sip the morning away. I love the energy it gives me and gets me off to a good start on my protein and some good, healthy fruit. I also love my "mocha" shake, take whats left over of my one cup of coffee and toss in the blender, scoop of chocolate Protein Powder and some skim milk, a few ice cubes and while it may not be starbucks, from where I stand, I'll take it. :-) Sorry my response is not very creative, I know about now lots of folks are tired of looking at the same old thing.

    The beloved "Food Funeral".

I agree. You just don't understand how bitter and judgemental you come across. Perhaps you might go back and read some of what you post. Starting with the snarky comment in the above post. Sheesh! Dealing with one's emotions and taking control of eating habits is a huge part of preparing for the sleeve. Why is that so hard to understand? I did the same thing. I am also living with the reality of my sleeve and quite frankly, gaining control of my emotions and eating habits prior to being sleeved has helped me in the process. There are still lots of hurdles and realities I have yet to face but having a handle on these things I have no doubt will help see me through. I hope the same for you. Just a suggestion, perhaps a little understanding and compassion for those who come after can help those of us who have been there. It feels good to pay it forward. Try it sometime.

    The beloved "Food Funeral".

Wow! went back and reread what LipstickLady wrote and not one word spoke to me as her acting like she knows it all. It was a post of thought, process and conclusion. Her own feelings and thoughts. She was clear on that. She also stated she was sure there would be difficult times and challenges. Not sure why AussieLady is accusing her of being a newbie who thinks she knows it all to the point of telling her she needs therapy. How about letting folks post their thoughts and feeling without judging and making declarations on what they need and don't need? I read her post as very positive and going into this journey with her eyes wide open and doing her best to take control of her journey. If that is wrong, I sure don't want to be right. You will do great LipstickLady, and I was able to see the positive mindset in your post. I thought it very uplifting and inspiring.

    HERE IT GOES...

I would guarantee that using a straw will not stretch your stomach. I would also guarantee that the girl who put on 50 pounds is six months was putting something a lot more that a straw in her mouth. Anyhow....Back to the original question, @mysleevemylife, we were sleeved on the same day! My surgeon does fall toward the conservative side so I feel safe in using a straw. His orders were no straws or gum for 4 weeks. I have been using a straw since then and no issues. Hope all is going well and you are getting back to normal. I feel like life is getting back there and I am loving it!

Is Sleeving the easy way out?

I didn't think you were implying it at all. What you feel is normal while researching, and reasoning out, good and bad reasons to have this surgery. This forum is a great place to voice those thoughts and concerns. It's just hard when the voices in our head try to have a screaming match with our brains. Sometimes it just so much commotion that some of it has to come out. No worries, you are in a safe zone here.

    The beloved "Food Funeral".

I agree with you. I think Aussie Lady did not understand what you were saying. Be nice if she would jump back in and clarify. I think you have exactly the right approach and attitude to be a fully successful sleever.

Is Sleeving the easy way out?

Is sleeving the easy way out? Not only no but HELL NO!! It's not the easy way. At all. It is going to take work and determination. You are going to have to make the right food choices to succeed. Let me put it to you like this. If you get sleeved and you lose the excess weight and your health improves drastically, will you feel like a failure?? I am guessing you would not. I wish you the best of luck and I'm sure you will do well, as long as you are ready for the change.

    The beloved "Food Funeral".

First of all~ THANK YOU for the larger font, it makes it much easier for us in the over 50 crowd! Second~ I know you were not trying to be noble, I felt exactly the same way and I knew this was going to be different than any other of the million and ten diets I had done before so I didn't want make the same mistakes as a million and ten time previously if that makes sense. The only thing I had a "one last" of is my beloved frozen margarita as I had decided to give those up forever. Probably one of the best things I could do for my health considering a small one weighs in at over 600 calories and more processed sugar than you can shake a stick at. I am 7 weeks out today and life is returning to normal. I am off all dietary restrictions and while the hard work really starts now it's been good. I want to make great choices but I also want to have a normal life. I am introducing new foods every day, slowly to see what works. I'm in no hurry because I know that within a few months there won't be anything I can't have, I will just have way less and I know I will be just as happy. I applaud you on your decision to take control. That was exactly how I needed to look at it. Someone in another thread about long term success. My reply was "my long term success is up to me, and me alone." I believe that to be true. I have a powerful tool, not a magic wand. Best of luck to you. You will do great!

    Waiting for Surgery!

Congrats! Yes, stay ahead of the pain and nausea. I did for the first 48 hours then didn't need it much after that. So ask early and often! Also, walk as soon as you can and sip, sip, sip, it will make a difference!

It's a well know fact that boys are just born with more farts. I grew up with 4 older brothers. The air was toxic ALL the time.

    Can't Drink Water At All

Try poweraid zero instead of G2. It has less carbs than G2. I would suggest getting Isopure. It is 2 grams of protein in each oz. It counts as liquid and protein.
  22. I would probably get normal labs and have them check your vitamin levels, especially your B's, D and iron.
  23. Everyone is right. The feelings are normal and the first month is the hardest. It gets better. A lot better! The energy comes back and weight will come off. I was sleeved on March 6th and life is so much better. The first month or so keeping up with the liquids and Protein are a full time job and and it sucks because you are forced to think about nothing but food and what can I have how long has it been since I had protein. Slowly things will get back to normal. I have been out with my friends a few times and it is good. Within a few months there shouldn't be anything I can't have but only in very small portions and that will be satisfying. You will be so happy you did this. Please post on this thread every couple of weeks and let us know how you are doing. It will help those who come after you. I'm guessing you are going to be one happy, skinny camper!
