    Biotin?

I love The Nature's Bounty brand. It's 5,000 meg of Biotin so just one per day is all that is needed and the pill is tiny. Just a tad smaller than a Benedryl. I get them at CVS when they are BOGO.

    What was the worst

I was on full liquids for 3 weeks, the first week being clear liquid. I started out with 1/4 cup of tomato Soup. I worked up to about 1/3. I always measured then because my surgeon told me several times it would take time to feel the restriction. The first few days I was scared to eat it. I didn't really feel anything in my tummy. Not hungry, not full and not restricted. Your stomach is swollen and inflamed so that is not uncommon. Once I could have things like yogurt and sugarfree pudding I could eat the whole 4oz of it. It took awhile but didn't feel that restriction. I was able to have soft fish and deli meats at that time and didn't feel it. Once I was 6 weeks and could have dense meats like beef and chicken, It was amazing how I could feel it. It wasn't bad, it was just wow, is this what feeling full without over eating feels like? It took a few weeks past that to figure out how this new stomach was going to work. Now, at 12 weeks today, it's great, I can eat anywhere between 2-3 oz of dense protien, and a small serving of fruit or veggies. Not room for anything more. food is good, I enjoy it and I love this feeling of just the right amount of full!
  3. Congrats! Walk, walk, walk. It really is the best remedy for gas. It should subside soon and you will start feeling so much better!
  4. I think what he was saying is you have woken up from surgery and during the first part of the healing process, it's natural to second guess ourselves. I know that I did, several times. I've seen enough of your posts so I can tell you what your major issues are, if you really want to know! Seriously, speedy recovery to you. I do enjoy your posts!

    Caffiene ?

Not true. Some surgeons say that because especially early on because it is a diuretic and getting your liquids in is very important. Also, if you are prone to ulcers it can aggravate them. You should discuss it with your surgeon. Many people enjoy caffeinated coffee post surgery, myself included. I can't drink as much as I used to, half a cup is all I need. You would think that since we all had the same surgery we would all have the same post surgery instructions. I think you will know after your surgery if your new stomach can handle coffee or not.

    Unapologetic Brag Post

STANDING OVATION!!!!!!! You look amazing! Love the dress too!
  7. Amen! Even though my surgery and recovery was very easy, I couldn't help but ask myself that question over and over. I would do it again in a heartbeat but that must be addressed in one's mind.
  8. I am a 2 time c-section vet as well and being sleeved was so much easier for me!
  9. I would ask her to explain what she means by that statement. Sometimes when people are asked what they meant, they realize how stupid they sound and don't repeat the mistake.
  10. This is so hard to wrap my brain around. When you figure it out, please let me know! 78 pounds in 7 months is fantastic! Great job!
  11. Dontchaknow, surgery IS the easy way out!

    Tired of 1 TBSP!

Yes, it's normal. Most folks are advised to try for a medicine cup, 2 TBSP every 15 minutes. You can really just wet your mouth with it and get that in. It will get easier as the days go. Just keep at it. It really is a full time job, from the minute you get up to the time you go to bed. Just try to sip even it it seems like you feel full. It really is just that your new tummy is swollen. I promise it will get better each day and in a few weeks it will be great. I am 3 months out tomorrow and I can do over 100oz a day without a problem.
  13. My surgery and recovery went so easy. I am soooooo lucky. I was sleeved in the morning and back in my room by noon. I was up walking at 3 and didn't get back in the bed till I went to sleep that night. I sat up in a comfy chair in the hospital and was walking every hour. No nausea. At all. I did take pain and nausea meds while in the hospital just in case, my surgeon says that what they are there for. I kept down Water and ice and was given the choice to stay a second night or go home. I chose to go home so was in the hospital for barely 24 hours. Recovery at home was easy, was taking in 60 grams of Protein and 60 oz of liquids by the end of the first week. I have yet to throw up. Was walking about 2 miles per day after the first week, split up into to walks. I followed the Dr.'s orders to a T and it has served me well. My diet is not carb restricted, just balanced with protein and fruit/veggie. No room for bread, Pasta and sugars. I eat dense protein including steak without issue. I will say though with all the horror stories about salad I have been to chicken to try it yet but all indications point to a sleeve of steel for me so not sure why I have wussed out on trying it. I guess I don't want to push my luck. I enjoy a cup of coffee each day and drink about half of it. I enjoy a glass of wine each weekend, hubby and I are wine lovers with the blessing of my surgeon and NUT I enjoy wine. Not nearly as much as before though. I will be 3 months out tomorrow and and have lost 33 pounds since surgery and 46 since pre op. I think I would be a few pounds more if I didn't partake in the wine on the weekends. My NUT says at 6 months out she wants me at 165. I am at 173 today. I will be well past that by then. I am enjoying life more than I can say and love my sleeve! I feel better than I ever have in my adult life. I was self pay in the states and at this point the $12,200 cash that I forked over seems like a bargin at twice the price! I would do it again in a New York minute! If you are looking for positive, I am a walking, talking (and newly size 12 thank you very much) example of the life that the sleeve can be. Wishing you the very best!

    Biotin?

I have been taking biotin for over a year now. I have had thin hair for a long time. It has helped me. I am 3 months post op and and so far, have not had much hair loss, although I have heard about 4 months is the usual time frame. It has helped my skin and nails a great deal. I have thin nails as well and I have seen a major difference in them since about 6 months after I started using it.
  15. Same here. Dr. Nicholson in Dallas. All inclusive. Best money I ever spent on myself!. Would do it again in a heartbeat!

    Panera Hidden Menu

The chicken hummus is da bomb! Delish!
  17. You are going to have to take a deep breath, decide today is the day you are going to follow it. You will have no choice after surgery and think of it this way; your surgeon needs your liver as small as it can be. If he gets in there and it's too big and can't do the surgery, will you still think what you ate is worth it? I kept that in my mind and asked myself that often on my pre op diet. It helped. Hope it helps you. Good luck! You can do it!

Does the pre op diet get any easier?

Hang in there. It will get better. I promise. The first 3-4 days are the hardest. In fact, day 3 is usually the hardest. Then it gets better. Just hang in and stay away from the kitchen. It's rough now but it will be worth it. I'm 12 weeks post op and and would do it again in a minute!
  19. Same here. No stitch and closed quickly.
  20. Hate to break it to you but you'd best start parting with some t make room for a smaller size. It seems to happen for most. I have gone down half a size so far and that size is starting to get loose.

    Totally Blew It....

I don't know but I'm pretty sure I would be happy just licking your face and smelling your breath after eating that....but I'd probably gain 5 pounds just doing that...... Sheesh.....Most days I'm so happy with my sleeve and some days, like today, I'm one salmon patty away from the nice young men in the clean white coats that are coming to take me away.....
