Has anyone cane home the same day as surgery?
newat52 replied to kelley5989's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I did spend a night in the hospital but I could have gone home that day. Slept for about 3 hours after getting back to my room but then once I got up, I spent the rest of the day and evening sitting in the very comfy chair and didn't get back in the bed till I went to sleep. Was on my way home by 9am. I was supposed to stay two nights but there was no need and I did better at home. Good luck and let us know how it goes! -
I was big Pellegrino drinker. It's a sparkling Water. It was my crack. No calories, no sugar, no sweeteners. Just beautiful bubbly water. It was heaven. Gave it up a month before surgery because of the carbonation. Not everyone surgeon says no carbonation post surgery but mine does so I decided I would follow that. That is what is best for me. I can't even try again to see if I "can" have some because it would be a very, very slippery slope for me. Of course, there are times when I miss an ice cold diet Pepsi, you know, that first drink where it kind of burns going down your throat in the most delightful way, giving your innerds a nice tickle all the way down...... Yep, a slippery slope indeed.....

I want to ride my bicycle, i want to ride my bike...

I guess that's fair, because it ain't so comfy for the fairer sex either. I think whoever invented the typical bike seat was a sadist. -

What dose of Biotin do you take?
newat52 replied to tammalina's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I use Nature's Bounty. It's 5,000 megs. I take one per day. I love them because they are very small. This week, until Saturday, CVS has them on sale. Buy one get one free. I get the big bottle that has 150 in it so I get almost a year's supply for about $20. -
Gastric Sleeve vs Medical Weight Loss
newat52 replied to StarryNightSky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mean this with all due respect, you don't owe anyone an explanation. People don't have to approve your actions. If you are going to do this, you are going to have to own it. It will take work and at the end of the day, you need to be accountable to yourself, regardless of what other think. There will always be naysayers and people who think you took the easy way out. It's not the easy way. At all. If someone is asking you to defend your decision, simply tell them, thank you for your concern but I wasn't looking for opinions, and change the subject. Good luck to you, you know what is right for you. -
Gastric Sleeve vs Medical Weight Loss
newat52 replied to StarryNightSky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Just reading Mokee and Ms. skinniness are proof of success. Look at how much being sleeved has improved Mokee's health! That is so awesome! Long term success? Just look at Ms. skinniness's ticker. Surgery nearly 3 years ago and keeping it off. Neither of them said it has been easy and obviously, they work on it every day. We all do. If those two are not reasons enough, I don't know what is! Thank you both for being an inspiration to us all! -
Gastric Sleeve vs Medical Weight Loss
newat52 replied to StarryNightSky's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Losing the weight is easy. Keeping it off is a whole different set of issues. Most people who end up getting sleeved have been successful at losing weight multiple times. Only to eventually gain it back. We are professional dieters. The sleeve raises the chances of keeping it off forever. -
Ya know, I almost made a smart ass comment on that one too but figured I'd best not. I'm glad someone else has as warped sense of humor as me. I like you!

No way in Hell I'd step on the scale for 3 days after! Ha! I might have been born at night but it wasn't last night! Avoidance and denial. I'm a pro.

They sure are normal. Who isn't scared of the unknown? You know in your heart of hearts what is best for you but it doesn't mean there isn't a part of you that doesn't want to keep the old life, parts of it are comforting. But you know you can't go on like this. Is this some of what the voices are saying? It's what my head was saying. BTW: 3 months out now and the BEST thing I ever did for my health! Best of luck!

I'm staying away from this one! Lol! Too much racing through my warped little mind so early! P.S. Morning all!

OMG girl! You are just a freak! What did you do? Bite a bullet or something? My recovery was very easy but it still hurt and I ain't no sissy! Of course, that may be why I like you.

Maybe guys don't name their sleeve but I bet there are OTHER parts that have a name! -
Soon, my dear, soon. Hang in there. Things getting any better?

Stay far, far away from LaMonds! Lots of good seafood at the Market Place and you simply must walk over to Mother's. Mind your manners there and follow the rules, otherwise you will be scolded! Enjoy! Oh and at Pat O'Brian's the Bloody Mary's are to die for AND they have veggies in them. You did NOT hear that last part from me.

Too bad we won't have any good lunch box stuff to trade! It could be the most boring table, food wise. I can see it now. Hey Lipstick Lady, I'll trade you my protein shake for your exactly 2 oz of lean meat. I'm gonna get a kiss my ass faster than I can whip my shake out! :P

Hey all, Just going through my Sunday ads to see what I can't possibly live without this next week and low and behold CVS has Nature's Bounty Biotin on sale. Buy one, get one free so now is the time to stock up! They have the 5,000 meg capsules and they are smaller than a Benedryl so they are easy to get down, even soon after surgery. I get the 150 count so that's almost a year's worth for about $20 bucks! Ok. Done my good deed for the day. Back to your regularly scheduled programming. :D

Quick Answers, What to eat healthy at fast foods or franchise Restaurants
newat52 replied to liteNsun's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Actually, fast food can be our friend. McDonland's: Grilled chicken salad. Starbucks: Spinach feta/egg white wrap. I just unwrap it Taco Cabana: Most any fajita dish Wendy's: Chili Most fast food places have had plenty we could eat for a long time. We just didn't know pre sleeve. :-) When you get bored, google the chains and most have their menus and NUT values online. Takes the guess work out of it. -
I'm not a Wisconsinite but I am married to one. Can I be an honorary one? They are some of the best people ever!
