  1. I am almost 4 months out and I enjoy wine. I got the green light at 6 weeks. It may effect you differently then it did prior to your surgery so would try a glass at home first.
  2. I began to have steak again at about 2 1/2 months although I was lifted of all dietary restrictions at 6 weeks. Lots of people can't do then but I have had no adverse reactions to anything I have tried. Yes, it's as good as I remembered!
  3. Dr. Nicholson did my surgery on March 6th. I am very happy. Very easy recovery and no nausea or vomiting. I was up walking about 3 hours after I got back to my room and didn't even get back in the bed till I went to sleep that night. I was at Forrest Park~Frisco. Nice place, I don't know why but I was given one of the VIP suites up on the 4th floor. Nice 2 room suite, so it was comfy for my hubby who wanted to stay with me. I think most of his staff is great, the PA that visited me in the hospital the next morning was wonderful. His PA in the Plano office though, I have not been overly impressed with for follow up visits. Had one at two weeks then six. I don't have another till 6 months which will be in Sept. but will request to see Dr. Nicholson. I just think she didn't do much. She weighed me, told me what to eat and was out in 3 minutes flat. Was pretty much a waste of my time. I asked her if was going to look at my incisions at the 2 week check and she said no! I was pretty shocked! BP? Nope. At 6 weeks I asked her to check my incisions. I think Dr. Nicholson is a wonderful surgeon and would use him again or recommend him to anyone. My scars are so small. Oh, and he does the leak test in the OR so no yukky swallowing stuff the next day. It also means you can start sipping as soon as you wake up! Major upside!
  4. Add some Protein powder to sugarfree pudding to help. Cottage cheese packs a good protein punch as well. Try some of the nectar drinks. Yeah, we have all hosted a pity party once or twice post op so you've used one of yours.
  5. Said no woman ever!...... :P
  6. First of all, CONGRATS on your success! That is amazing! You must feel on top of the world! I guess I'm not far along enough to have that thought cross my mind but I am guessing that the body will level off and find will go into a maintenance mode. You could probably encourage it a bit with adding some calories when you are happy with your weight. Just a thought. I can't wait to find out though! Congrats again, your success is very inspiring!

    Party advice

Yep, this is the stuff that life is made of. I have been in the situation several times. I am almost 4 months out as well. I will get a glass of wine and sip on it for awhile. (my surgeon is fine with wine after 6 weeks) then I will see what it there and choose very carefully and enjoy. I then may finish my wine but will steer clear of the table and enjoy the people. It takes some practice but it is so worth it to continue socializing and enjoying a normal life! Good luck, you will do great!
  8. I still cringe for her!
  9. As another Dr. Nicholson patient, follow what he says. I am now more than 16 weeks out and life is great. The liquid for the first 3 weeks is not fun but there is a purpose for it. It will be worth the wait! I still have not tried rice or breads, it just doesn't seem worth it but I can eat anything else. Hang in there, he told me several times it will be worth it and it is!
  10. Dang! And I thought we were getting dirty in here!
  11. When you put your soups through the blender, try adding a some unflavored Protein powder. You shouldn't be able to taste it and it will make a big difference in your protein intake. Also, after you are cleared for things like pudding, add some of whatever flavor or unflavored to your pudding. I use about 12 oz of skim milk and add a scoop of powder, blend it for a few seconds then add the pudding mix. I really helps also to get some much needed calories when you are working toward upping them. Based on 2 servings, it comes out to about 160 calories and 15 grams of protein.
  12. You have been very open and honest with your regret and I'm sorry so many people have attacked for it. Your feelings are what they are. But I can't help but hope that one day you will be able to come in and say, ya, know, maybe this was a good thing. I really do hope that for you.
  13. I was on 1 week of Clear Liquids and 2 more of full liquids. It had to fit through a strainer. No yogurt or pudding. It was not fun but I would advise you to follow your surgeons instructions. The time will go fast. No need to go faster than he recommends. It will be worth the "weight." (pun intended)

    July 4th!

I opened a can of refried beans and OMG! It was soooo good! I Kissed the can! It took almost a week to eat the can but oh boy, it was delish!
  18. What a healthy attitude that you and your Dr. have! Heal first, the rest will follow. Get on the right track as you go and the journey will be better. My Dr. and NUT have similar attitudes. They say the goal is not to get it all off in a short time, start and practice your lifelong eating habits now and give yourself the time to get to your goal. It's not about getting there in 4-6 months, it's about healing first, developing healthy eating habits and exercise. The weight will come off and your body will feel great! Congrats, you will love your sleeve more each day that you heal!

    I want a salad!

Some folks can do them at 6 weeks some not till a few months. I was cleared at 6 weeks but waited 3 months to try it again. I am sure I could have gone sooner. That's what I had for lunch today, it's as good as you remember and will be worth the wait! Hang in there!
  20. That is fantastic! You are a shadow of your former self! Congrats!

Kind of want to punch a kitten :(

Things are normal! That is something I think most folks wanted to do. I had a major meltdown 6 days post op. Just hang in there. It will get better! I am almost 16 weeks out now and life has been great since about 6! I promise it will get better!
