Two and 1/2 Years Out, Life is Great, but have one Question
TexasMiss replied to mmcclure's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I have a friend who helped me through my surgery (he has had it also). When he starts to get too thin he drinks chocolate milkshakes! -
I am 6 weeks post op. I started at 332 and hit 289 yesterday. Its a small win but I felt awesome when I hit below 300! I can sympathize with you and food can get very frustrating! Who says you have to give up things? You don't have to give them up but just find healthier options to the things you love. I haven't ate a salad but munch on a few cucumbers with bolt house farms ranch or salsa ranch yogurt dressing. Talk about yummy...35 calories a tbsp and some protein...it's really good. Instead of bread I have a Flatout Flatbread with my sandwich (whole grain, 6 carbs for 1/2 a flatbread). I have spent hours going through the grocery store looking for new things. I buy a lot of precooked frozen like turkey meatballs, lean hamburger patties, and chicken fajita strips...stuff I can just pop in the microwave. Easy, no fuss. I'm with you, I HATE Greek yogurt...so guess what, I don't eat it. I spent 20 days preop eating cottage cheese and protein drinks and I won't go near cottage cheese again. I find other ways of getting my protein! Change up your protein drinks. I use premiere. I will add banana to my chocolate or mix a cup of coffee with it for a mocha...or add strawberry and banana to the vanilla. My point is you can make it work, you just have to find what works for you!

TexasMiss replied to No Day But Today's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I took a week, but when I took in my note to return to work from my doc, they told me not to come in the next day...they closed the doors. Soooo, I've been off 6 weeks lol. -
when can I take a bath?
TexasMiss replied to hlogan13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told to wait till they were healed over but did I listen? You have to remember its not just the incisions, it's getting out of the tub. They cut through those muscles and they have to heal too. Take it from the idiot who tried too early lol..tg my mom was still here to help me out -
Onederland? What, you don't know? It's just south of Yukon Cornelous' place on the north pole.

My poor experience with A Lighter Me
TexasMiss replied to dawndenise's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Dr Verboonen and my coordinator Sheri Burke were the same way! I have called, sent emails...nothing. Not one word. The last I've heard from them was when I got dumped off 6 hrs early at the hotel in San Diego in which I spent the day on the lobby couch because their weren't any rooms available. I really need to write a review on here. -
My dad did the same thing. He drinks his protein drink every morning and told me he was going to be eating like me. I took my mom grocery shopping and showed her how to read labels...we were in Walmart for three hours lol. We share recipes and I showed her how to bake fish which they eat 1-2 a week. My dads lost more weight post-op than I have lol. I think it's awesome!

I looked for them in the cracker aisle yesterday but didn't see them. I did find some red berry waffles in the frozen section. 75 calories, 15 carbs, 2 protein. Put an egg on it and melted cheese on top. Only ate half but it was yummy. I was looking for the eggo protein waffles but they didnt have them. Guess I could look online got the nut value. It's not going to be my everyday breakfast but maybe an occasional Saturday morning treat.

Yeah! -
To me it has a dry aftertaste kind like drinking cranberry juice. Does that make sense? But the flavor isn't bad...it's just a matter of your taste buds!

I'm really going to have to try that but I live alone and never make coffee for just me. I've never had instant coffee...wonder how it tastes? Will it dissolve in cold water? Hmmm... -

I had issues when I changed mine. You have to crop it so that is is square and then upload it. If it thinks it's like a 4x6 it will automatically rotate it to landscape. Annoying huh lol -
Dealing with PCP for Mexico Sleevers
TexasMiss replied to jan8j's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
I think we have this fear that they will respond like everyone else (you're what? mexico? Are you crazy? lol) but they should be on your side and proud of you taking steps to a healthier you. If not, find a doc that does! -
Ive used a straw since I got home from surgery. I tried but I can't drink out of a cup without gulping air because I never drink out of a cup. I went from a baby bottle to a straw in my momma's cup lol. It works for me.

I haven't tried coffee but had reg tea. It makes my sleeve feel weird for just a sec after I drink it and then it's ok....kinda weird feeling. I attribute it to the caffeine cause it's the only time it does it. -

TexasMiss replied to jan8j's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Don't tell them your going to Mexico, say your going to California cause its cheaper...not a complete lie lol. I was lucky. When I told mine she was so excited for me! As long as I was going to TJ and not across from us to Juarez she had no problem with it. She isn't a specialist or a nutritionist, but she has done everything she can to help me. If she doesn't know, she will find answers to my questions. She's awesome! -
Ya know, I've used a straw since I got home from surgery **gasp!** I suck in more air not using one lol.

So im thinking of trying out my pre opt diet pills
TexasMiss replied to Aaronmadeit's topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
The only thing that has bothered my sleeve is caffeine....makes it feel weird. I would think twice about it but everyone is different. What effects you may be just fine for me. Give it a few and all the almightys will start pitching in about being healthy and why would you do that to your body? It's your body...your decision. -
Going on 6 months smoke free and don't miss it!

Wow, ok. Was just curious if that was the reason. -
I don't hate cottage cheese!
TexasMiss replied to AmandaRaeLeo's topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
My 20 day preop consisted of cottage cheese and protein drinks. I loved cottage cheese but I think if I so much as looked at it now I would hurl lol. You name it I tried it to change/help with the taste. Mrs dash isn't bad regular or southwest, dry hidden valley ranch (very little) was ok, but I liked a bit of Campbell's tomato soup mixed it. Traditionally I've always doused it in black pepper just like my dad lol
