  1. I love the fact that my ticker below says "1 day". I have so much to do to get ready, and feel I have zero energy to do it after 20 days of liquids. With all the crazy stuff rolling through my brain today, I've had some soul searching thoughts run through it. I hereby pledge to A) rock my sleeve and my inner hottie always believe in myself and my own worth. c) be an example for my dad so he can decide to have the surgery and d) start that dang bucket list! No more excuses! Skydiving, repelling, doing that 5k Breast Cancer Awareness run...I may even trade in my cruiser for a sports bike. Watch out everyone...my life is starting over!!!
  2. I am on day 9 of a 20 day preop diet consisting of protein shakes, cottage cheese, yogurt, broth, and SF jello and popsicles. I've lost 13 lbs which is great. I'm trying really hard not to complain because it could be worse and I could be on full liquids or only protein drinks, but...I'm on burnout. I'd kill for just a salad, a cucumber, something with substance and crunch! In November, I kicked a 15 year habit of smoking cold turkey. During that time I munched on baby pickles when I got a craving for one. When I traveled I ate sunflower seeds. I thought i was over it, but now that I can have very little I want a cigeratte, a big Dr Pepper, and the right side of the menu from the burger place down the street! (ok, i really want the whole menu) I don't know why today is so hard, but I've just stayed in bed and slept since yesterday afternoon. I'm fighting caffine, nicotine, and every food craving imaginable. Any suggestions? How did you make it through?

    Oh the craving for crunch!

I'm with you. It was tough, but it's in the bag...you got this! It's only been four months since I quit and it's almost weird to think I used to smoke. I can smell it now from 20 paces, and it makes me nauseous! Who would have thought lol

For those curious about getting your DRANK on...

What makes me scratch my head is that I've read some that say occasional beer, limit 1 a week, but no sodas! Aren't they both bubbly brews? Good thing I'm a liquor girl

For those curious about getting your DRANK on...

That's awesome on the 250s! I'm like you and might drink once a year, and am curious how my sleeve would handle it. For some reason my stomache won't handle it now beyond 1/2 a drink, but I'm holding out I might enjoy the occasional drink after the sleeve...just two more days!

    37 day liquid diet

I know it wasn't technically listed on my liquid diet (20 days) but lets be realistic, it's not the easiest thing. I don't make a habit of it but I've got sugar free life savers and gum in my purse. It's really helped during lunch meetings or trainings when I'm surrounded by food!

    So gross...

Omg don't tell me that. I've been craving it and cant wait till I can have creamy postop. I'm gonna cry if I can't lol

    Scale Voodoo

Well, so I've figured out a little trick. I can't see the digits on my scale over my boobs lol, but if I lean over to see it before the number sets it will knock off like 8 lbs

    Top Heavy Women.....

I'm hoping mine will decrease. I don't want the girls to go away, but I would love to walk into any random store and buy a bra!

    45lbs, 6 weeks, and HUMMUS! :)

You've convinced me. I'm going to put it on my grocery list and look forward to trying it...when I can lol

    45lbs, 6 weeks, and HUMMUS! :)

Congrats! So I have a question. I've never had hummus but it's on my list of foods. Can you tell me what it tastes like? I think I've never tried it because it's chick peas and I don't like regular peas. Go figure...the things in my head lol

  18. I'm right there with you. Day 11 of 20 and I kinda had a meltdown yesterday. I got mad, I cried, and then I felt better. I keep telling myself I'm on the home stretch now...it's all good Btw I'm also not going to worry about my preop now. I set my goal of days till surgery, week one of preop foods, week two etc. Making goals in manageable, bitsize pieces...so to speak lol You can do it!

    tattoos after surgery?

If your not healed then the tatt may heal slow and you don't want to risk infection. Might want to ask your doc how long the effects of a blood thinner last if he gives you one, and the antithesisologist if there's any lasting effect on those sleepy time cocktails he's gonna give ya that may interfere. Your covering up and dont want it to look crappy. I would think if you are up on you feet, back to work, healed, etc you would be ok.

    Easy Way Out? Really?

Oh I wouldn't tell her to get off my back, I'd have other very choice words for her! Doesn't sound like a friend to me. Keep your head up and doing watcha doing...this is for YOU!

    Easy Way Out? Really?

I don't know about y'all but this is one of the hardest "diets" I've done! It's by far not an easy way out. I'm 9 days pre op on a 20 day diet of mostly liquids, and when I got my post op instructions yesterday I wanted to cry. I KNEW what was was going to be on that paper, but it was seeing it in print and it made me furious. A week of only Water and juice after surgery? I wanted to throw my phone across the room lol. I want something solid dangit and I dont want to wait several more weeks! It's a change both mentally and physically, and I still haven't wrapped my brain all the way around the fact I probably won't want to eat that first week. Life is going to be different, and it probably won't fully hit me until that day. Now, with that being said, I cried, pouted, got mad, and got over it--crunching on a SF popsicle lol. Ya just got to do it. Walk a mile in our shoes and then tell me it's the easy way out.

    Oh the craving for crunch!

Now that's funny. I was totally thinking about chewing it and then spitting it out lol.

    HEY TEXAS SLEEVERS!!!

Odessa here. I'm 10 days from surgery...counting them bad boys down!
  24. It's all about the Benjamin's lol. When your self pay there's a big difference between $5k and $20k when it's coming out of your pocket. My primary has a weight loss clinic and she is doing my follow up and aftercare.

My VSG in Mexico (long post)

So I'm in Texas also. My primary encouraged me to do this but recommended I go to San Diego and to TJ. I'm curious what you paid for your surgery? Obviously I'm already in the hole $500 more for a flight :/
