TSA agent questioned my ID
TexasMiss replied to AliveAgain's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
That's awesome! -
My starting BMI was 60.5 and currently 54.3. Seems amazing that number has moved so easily lol. Funny thing is I loved water and SF kook-aid preop and can't STAND it now... But I am getting it down. I think the surgery effected my taste buds lol.

I've lost 15 lbs since surgery as of Saturday (35 since I started preop). I'm visiting my parents and left my scale at home lol so I'm hoping to add a few pounds to it when I get home

I'm 18 days out. I'm so used to being on liquids that I feel guilty eating food! I baked talapia last night and steamed zucunni and squash for my family. It was so tender I just mashed it with a fork...was so good. I am finding I can only eat about 2 ounces at a time and I'm very full, then 2 hrs later I'm hungry again. Fluids are getting better but still am not getting 64 oz in. My main problem right now is acid reflux. I'm taking a protonix in the morning but wake up at night with a mouthfull of acid. I'm really thinking about taking it twice a day?

Premier Protein Shakes at Sam's Club, ?
TexasMiss replied to Mel1980's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
$18.88 for a 12 pack -
I'm did it for 20 days preop, and I admit I did slip once and had a bean burritto. It happens because we're human! Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and start again. You can do this! If not, I'm a Texan too and hog tie'n you and spoon feeding you protein drinks is a possibility!

Bit the bullet, tried Isopure Zero Carb
TexasMiss posted a topic in Protein, Vitamins, and Supplements
So I bought some Isopure about 2 months ago in preparation of my surgery, and it has just been sitting there. Every time I opened the fridge it laughed at me, "Haha you wasted a lot of money on us!" So now that I am 8 days postop I decided to bite the bullet and try it. First out of the fridge was the pineapple Orange banana. From my readings on here, there is a very clear line when it comes to Isopure Zero...you love it, or you hate it. So here it goes. My mom laughed as I crinkled my face in anticipation of my first sip. I was expecting this horrible cough syrup tasting concoction, but wait, it wasn't that bad. I went in for a second sip and yeah, I can do this. I can see where some people say it leaves a dryness in your mouth, but maybe that isn't so bad and it will help me sip more. I mixed it half and half with Orange G2 Gatorade and it really helped cut that dryness. I haven't tried the other flavors, so we will see how those work out. On a side note, I keep losing track on how much fluids I'm getting in. I tried just remembering and that doesn't work. Then I tried writing it down and couldn't remember where I wrote it lol. So my uber genius and completely stupid solution was two paper cups, 8 pinto Beans, and a 1 cup measuring cup. Each time I measure out my cup, I move a bean over. I know...it's stupid, and I can't believe I just admitted it! -
Ok don't laugh but I got creative during my preop diet. 20 days of protein drinks and cottage cheese will do that to you! My fav is to sprinkle a little pepper, garlic, and onion powder on it. I've also mixed a cup with a teaspoon if tomato soup. I wouldn't do that now because I'm sensitive to tomato (acidic) post op... maybe in a few months. I also.. I know it's weird, but I sprinkled dry powder Hidden Valley Ranch on it.. just a tad because it doesn't take much. I season with it all the time because it only has 15? calories for 2? tablespoons, no fat, carbs, etc although its got sodium but it is a seasoning. You just have to experiment with it and find what you like. It's great with puréed peaches!

I have hypoparathyroidism.

I know pre-surgery I ate 4 a day for the calcium content for my parathyroids per my dr. But I am questioning it now and would like someone knowledgeable to answer this question. I haven't taken any since surgery but I'm getting my calcium from viactin chews now (go back to dr. thurs).

How long post-op until you showed a loss?
TexasMiss replied to Pepper Paul's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I came out +5 lbs, and then on day 4 post op I lost 6 lbs in one day...needless to say I was peeing all day lol...it's all the IV fluids. Since them I'm losing a pound a day...love seeing that scale move! -
Wait no I'm not. I'm 9 days post op lol.
-
I'm the weird one. I'm 30 days post op and have lost 30 lbs as of today. I was thin in the 6th grade and a D cup...when the girls started popping out they just kept on getting bigger lol. I'm on the last hooks so I've lost inches, but I'm busting out of my cups! WTH!

One of my incisions is leaking. Any advice?
TexasMiss replied to Harpo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told no baths, pools, or hot tubs for 6 weeks. As long as it isn't oozing like it is now, I would put a waterproof bandage over it and enjoy the time with my kids. I wonder if they are 100% waterproof? I wouldn't spend every minute in water either...but, that's just me. Ultimately like everyone else said, talk to your doc and follow his advice. -
Bit the bullet, tried Isopure Zero Carb

I have a16 oz doubled wall insulated tumbler..not sure what a Tervis cup is? My problem is I fill the whole thing up, ice melts and get watery after awhile and I won't drink whatever it is in my cup. So I will dump it and get fresh, so I lose track of how much I'm drinking. Only doing half the cup now and it's working much better. it's amazing how something as simple as drinking changes after this. I could suck down liquids with the best of them...not anymore! lol. -
I have a cuisinart duet blender/food processor and it works great. I like it because it has the two attachments but one base. Purees like a champ!
-
Try a mini chopper. If you have a dollar store you can pick them up for $5. Most of them are about 1 cup? capacity so they work great for what we need. It will mince an onion to mush if you hold the button down so it should do meatballs. Maybe the tomato sauce doesn't give enough moisture? Maybe try a tablespoon of beef broth or tomato juice.

I have lovingly named my pouch Marvin...the martian. He is quite alien to me and were still working out this whole communication thing. I can't tell if he's hungry...full...or what he wants because I dont know his language yet but were working on it. Nan-nu Nan-nu.

I told my mom today, I feel funny. She asked, are you in pain? Nope. Just feel...I don't know what I'm feeling. I'm 6 days post op, and don't know is that a I need to eat feeling? Did I sip to fast? Am I full? I'm thinking that will change when I get to more solid foods because the signals aren't too clear now lol.

4 days out, surgery in TJ, no aftercare instructions, help please
TexasMiss posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So I knew going into this I would be on my own when it came to my aftercare since I was having surgery in Mexico. I have spent hours and hours researching to prepare myself for when I got home. What I can't find an answer for is my regular meds. I take prescription vitamin D, allergy, and blood pressure meds. I do not anticipate my primary keeping me on BP meds after I see her this afternoon because we have been discussing stopping it altogether. My concern is the allergy and calcitrol (vitamin D for hypoparathyroidism). When can I start retaking them? I had surgery 3/1 so I'm 5 days out. -

TexasMiss replied to TexasMiss's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, I met with my primary before I left. I go back to see her this afternoon, and she is going to clean/change my dressings or she might take them off completely. She's on board all the way, and were going to discuss a nutritionist and give me a referral. Both pills are very small, so I'm not too concerned about swallowing them. I had read about extended release meds...those docs for and some against. We need to figure out what I have so we can figure out if I need to change things up. My appt is in 4 hrs so I guess my runny nose won't kill me before then lol... but sneezing sure isn't pleasant! -
Mexico was an experience! 2 days post op
TexasMiss posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
This whole thing has been a blur! I walked in, they asked for my ID and took my weight. An EKG and next thing I knew I was on the table and he asked me where I was from. I said Texaaaaas and that's all I remember! It happened SOOO fast. Definitely not like in the US...didn't even get a chance to take my contacts out lol. Honestly, it went much easier than I thought. The pain from the incisions was minimal, it was trying to get all that gas up! Burp burp I did. I was a bit nauseous and threw up several times, but I got through it. We got across the border pretty quickly behind a bus full from Jerasulem hospital. At the hotel now waiting for our room in San Diego. Can't wait to get back to Texas!! -
No, live in Odessa now, but all my family is still there...visit about once a month
