3week Post-Op Stall?
TexasMiss replied to amber4242's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wouldn't sweat it. I did the same thing. After week 3 I hit a stall for about two weeks and the scale is moving again! There's so much going on with your body, it has to have a chance to catch up -

That makes perfect spence that you said it can effect sleep quality and quantity. I'm just now getting to an almost normal nights sleep. -
Grits are dried ground hominy. It's kind like malt-o-meal but definitely a southern thing. Depending on what part of the US your in you would either put sugar or salt in them. Never understood the salt thing lol
-
Do you like grits? I bought a Jimmy Dean turkey sausage breakfast bowl the other day for two bucks at Walmart. It will make about 4 meals for me. I emptied the contents into a freezer bag, and then zapped me a small bowl...added extra cheese and a tad of mild picante sauce and it was great

Florance vs Mi hospital
TexasMiss replied to rollargirl's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Has anyone ever had a comfy hospital bed? Their hospital beds lol -
My dermatologist recommended minoxidil, but he also told me to keep in mind that once you start it, it's for life. If you stop it, you will lose the new growth and your hair would return to the pattern loss your trying to stop. I didn't want that kind of commitment so I went with the biotin.

Is that where your drain tube was? Mine did the same (almost). My PC gave me a prescription for Mupirocin ointment, changed the band-aid 3 times a day and it looked great on the second day.
-
I have been on biotin for about 3? years now. I will say that it takes 5-6 months before I really noticed a difference and improvement in my hair loss. I started to get lots of baby hairs around my hairline and it was regrowing. I'm hoping that since I've been on it that it will slow the loss when/if it effects me.

Will doctor postpone?

My allergies were acting up the week of my surgery because they took me off my allergy meds which contained steroids. My primary wouldn't give me anything but told me to take a Claritin and a regular (not D) mucinex. I was fine for surgery. -
I eat between 500-800 a day, but I strive for 800 a day. I have definitely noticed that the more I eat the better I feel. The first 3 weeks I wasn't eating enough and couldn't get my shake down. I felt horrible! By the time I took my shower I was so exhausted I would sit down to comb my hair. Now that I'm eating, getting my shake down and hitting 60+ grams of protein I feel great.

15 days post op and freezing!
TexasMiss replied to rachel marie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ditto here! I'm always COLD. -
If your doing this to get healthy why would you risk the health of your skin? I'm known as "the pale one" now because it was no fun to have cancerous spots removed from my face in my mid twenties! That tan on my face faded, but I'll have the scars for life.

OJ is my fav! I'm a month out and I had one sip yesterday...didn't bother me. Didn't want more than that because of all the sugar, but just a taste got me over the craving

How did you tolerate a long flight home?
TexasMiss replied to serenity1959's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
This one I can help with lol. I was on a 20 day liquid preop, and was having surgery the day I arrived. Mistake #1--it was miserable running around the airports and on the flights and nothing to drink before surgery. Mistake #2--give yourself enough time between flights. When your thirsty and feeling weak you don't move as fast! Now, with that being said, I did make it to TJ. Traveling down there wasn't the greatest experience but I made it. Coming home was much easier. I had so much anxiety coming back because I couldn't move as fast and was a little tender (but not in horrible pain). I wanted to come home and if I missed a flight I wouldn't get home for another 5-7 hours. So this was our game plan... When we landed in San Diego that place was PACKED. We decided if it was like that again we would ask for a wheelchair so I wouldn't have to stand the whole time going through security. We took an 8:30 am flight out and the airport wasnt busy at all. I got through security in about 10 minutes. BTW, I watched a lady in a wheelchair bypass the line and go straight to the front What really saved me was pre-boarding. I was very nervous about navigating the aisles, bumping people, and hitting my incisions etc. Southwest was awesome! They gave me a blue slip which let me pre-board (didn't cost anything), so I was the second or third person on. When we got settled they boarded everyone else. Sat right up front so we were first off also. Just told the gate agent I was just discharged from the hospital, had open incisions, and asked to pre board...she didn't even question it! It really made the trip home very smooth and put my mind at ease -

Bald...shaved...some facial hair...it's what I prefer and find very sexy. I LOVED rubbing my x's head when it just stars to grow out and he needed to shave again when its at that soft prickley stage...Uh, yeah lol it does it for me! To whomever mentioned Patrick Stewart...you are definitely on to something! The only Star Treks I watched was Next Generation...it must have been him...that bald head and that accent! Mmm mmm lol
-
I don't know why not. I flew from Texas to Mexico and back for my surgery. I'm 4 weeks out now and feel great and incisions are healed. If I can fly 7 hrs back with fresh incisions then you should do great at 4 weeks!

march sleevers the good and the bad
TexasMiss replied to thriving1726's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had surgery March 1 in TJ. Doing great, except for almost a two week stall now. Eating great, on solids now but chew chew chew. I really have to watch myself from just the old chew and swallow way of eating. Can't wait to get to the raw veggie/salad thing! -
I like the chocolate better by itself but haven't took a drink of the vanilla plain. I use the vanilla to add strawberries and banana...now that's good! I will be realistic and say their protein drinks...they ALL have a little aftertaste, but these were the best tasting I have found. I'm visiting my parents this weekend and when I woke up this morning my dad was drinking my protein shake (vanilla). I asked him what he was doing and he said...I just wanted to see what they taste like since your always drinking them...it's pretty good! lol...so his vote is vanilla
