Confused. Do we want to be in ketosis?
TexasMiss posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
41 days post op. I've been in ketosis for awhile. Funky BO, can't get this taste out of my mouth...it's aggravating..and embarrassing! Do I want to be in ketosis or should I eat more carbs? How long is it safe to stay in ketosis? FYI surgery in Mexico so no nut, insurance won't pay for it, don't have the $$$ for it at the moment so wanting to pick the brains of all you knowledgeable peeps -
I find what works for me has been using my fitness pal. As long as I'm diligent in using it and track my calories I stay on track and consistently lose. Life this summer has been hectic, including an out of state move, and the last two months I haven't been using it. Guess what, not only have I not lost any weight, I've gained 8 lbs when I got I the scales yesterday! So today, I'm back on it. I've logged my food, packed my lunch and healthy snacks, and measured all my food. I've worked so hard to get this far, and I'm determined that scale isn't going any further the other way! I'm of the opinion I know what I need to do and how to do it. If I don't and resort to old habits (which is sooo easy to), then the sleeve is if no benefit to me. I'm so close to goal, and I'm determined to get there!

I have been struggling with the same 5 lbs for the last 2 months! I'm now .4 away from -150 and just can't seem to motivate myself to get back on the wagon. I'm not gaining, but I'm not losing either. I'm not stalled, I've gotten complacent. I've quit walking during my lunch hour cause it's so dang hot (excuse). I've quit logging my foods and counting my calories (my fault again). I'm in a funk and can't seem to drag my butt back into gear. I can completely sympathize, but know the fault is in myself. I know what I need to do, I just need to do it! lol

Congrats and welcome to Onderland! It's such a wonderful feeling! I'm a couple lbs from 150... not even sure what to call it lol do we have a term for that?

I absolutely have pizza. I'm 13 months out, and I've learned not to restrict myself from foods I love, but change them to a healthier alternative. I will take a flat out kidz wrap, and throw it on my pizza stone for about 5 minutes to start to crisp it up. Then I take it out and put sauce, low fat part skim mozzarella crumbles, Hormel turkey pepperoni (these are fabulous), and then whatever veggies I want on it. Throw it back in the oven until the cheese is melted. I can eat about 1/2, and my kiddo eats the other 1/2 as a snack. He loves them except for when I put mushrooms on it lol. Sometimes I make a regular pizza but press out my dough to a thin crust and use whole wheat. Occasionally I will have pasta. I like the healthy Harvest line. It's whole wheat but turns white when you cook it. My kid doesn't even know he's eating something healthy! Don't get me wrong, I do try to avoid carbs but when I don't, get a benefit out of them and only do whole wheat. If I want a sandwich I buy the thin rounds, use 1/2 and it's only 50 calories and whole grain. Soooo, lol, point being...I don't deny myself, I just look for ways to change it up

When you start getting solids in you, you will feel the restriction.

Year out what do you eat on daily basis?
TexasMiss replied to JessicaDiane1021's topic in Food and Nutrition
I am a year out 3/1. I eat chicken...lots of chicken lol. Fresh fruit and veggies, lots of salad. I eat a low fat string cheese and cucumbers for snack almost every day. I skimp on carbs. If i do eat carbs, then whole grain only. I limit myself to 800 calories a day and shoot for a minimum of 60 grams of protein. -

Who did you end up with? My coordinator is recommending Javier Garcia also.

So not complaining, but haven't lost in two weeks, and think I hit my first stall. I had surgery in Mexico so haven't had the luxury of a NUT. I checked into it but didn't see the point of paying $300 when I've been pretty successful on my own (to this point). I've been at 800 calories for several months and 60-80g of protein a day. I'm debating if I need to increase my calories or protein? For those of you around 6 months like me, what's your calorie/protein intake?

Mexico Vertical Sleeve
TexasMiss replied to Borders3's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
Mexico is a great option for those of us that decide to go there. I had a good surgeon, and even though I had surgery in a clinic I had a private nurse..so that was a perk. The price made it a reality for me. 121 lbs down and feeling great! -
who is getting comments from friend/family your getting to skinny?
TexasMiss replied to re14768's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My date told me my a$$ looked good in my new jeans last night. I don't think I'll ever get tired of hearing compliments...even if it is your getting too skinny. It's a lot better than oh you could be so pretty if only.. or but, you have such a pretty face... bring on the skinny talk! ) -
Welcome to the club! I'm pushing -125

I am sending mine to a thirift store in New Orleans which is run by and benefits VRC (aka Pit Bulls and Parolees). They were too nice to just donate to Goodwill, and at least this way the money will benefit their organization and the doggies -

Craving Pizza? Low Carb Flatout Pizza
TexasMiss replied to gamergirl's topic in Regular foods (stage 4)
I make the same thing but use Hormel turkey pepperoni. You get 17 pieces for 70 calories and 9g of protein I have a pizza stone, and heat it in the oven, then throw my flatout (I like the multigrain) on it for about 5 minutes. I pull it out, put my sauce and toppings on it, and bake it until the cheese is bubbly. It makes the crust super crispy! I can only eat half, but my kiddo is always happy to eat the other half as a snack. It's great and I don't have to feel guilty about it
