girl you got this! i know its frustrating but hang in there. The water will help. Do what they say and remember Phil. 4:13. He will help you

you will but we have a "new normal" now. Eating like we did presurgery is no more unless you want to undo everything you have done so far. I do know people that have done just that. learning how to deal with the new tummy is jus that, a learning experience. Small amounts and so very slow. That has been hard for me because I am a teacher too. You know as teachers, we are skilled with eating a whole meal in 8min between duty and before the bell rings lol so slowing down has been a challenge. one thing I have learned it to eat a small bit of something when I take those gosh aweful Vitamins. lol I didnt and thats the only two times I have been physically sick. Hang in there. it will get better. Elevate you upper body and that should help. Dont drink when you eat and dont eat late. good luck

I have foam after I eat. I am finding I have it more when I'm overful. I'm not drinking when I eat and I take prilosec every morning. Not sure why you're having it in the morning. Try an extra pillow too. I sleep better with this new tummy when I'm more elevated.

girl hang in there! i know just what you mean! I am 5 weeks out and every day gets better and better but I also had regrets right after surgery. I even said "what have i done to myself?" give it a little time. It is so hard at first to think you will ever enjoy food or drink again. The way we eat is different now. SLOW is the key. Full is Not comfortable so you dont have to be stuffed to enjoy food. I missed what I thought was my old friend "food" but have come to realize i depended on food for way to much! Dont loose sight of the goal and remember it only gets better and better with each day. -
so sorry may just take you a little more time to adjust. hang in there

Anyone thinking about their mortality?
dk9868 replied to ISleevedIt's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Don't stress yourself. Go in with the attitude that this is going to be fine, the drs know what they are doing and its going to change your life for the better. You're going to enjoy life with the ones you love and are concerned about so much more when the weight is off. Be sure to follow the post op instructions to the letter and to the day and you will do great. I am 4 weeks out and down 20 lbs and already have so much more energy. Dont feel bad for being worried. Its normal. After my surgery I kept thinking that I couldnt believe I actually followed through with it because it was scary to think of changing you insides so drastically. Its getting better every day and with every pound off, I know it was the right choice for me and it will be for you too. Praying for you and good luck. -
my friend and I were sleeved about 4 weeks apart. She had the same problems. they told her she had reflux and put her on either prilosec or prevacid. helped a lot. she also confessed she had been trying to sip a little something to drink when she ate. when she stopped that and got the acid under control she is doing much better. slow down when you eat. my sleeve hurts me when i rush. hope this helps. hang in there.

ON THE WAY HOME.....SLEEVED!

if you dont mind me asking, where did you have your surgery done, who was your dr, and how much was it? -
Try eating the things your body needs first. Leaves little room for the rest. Dont temp yourself by keeping the wrong foods close and at hand. I keep nuts and when I must have a crunchy snack, I nibble on a few wheat thins. I am only 4 weeks out and thought I would never again enjoy food. Can see thats not the case. I have just started with regular foods the last few days and can see I will be able to eat the regular varity without being sick but I can't hold large amounts. My "full signal" in pain in my stomach. I really dont like full because it hurts, so I'm learning that I dont have to be finished when the rest of my family is finished. Make yourself slow down, even if it means to leave the table for a bit. If eating out, when you order have them give you a to go box. Remove what you know is more than you should safely eat and make another two meals out of it later. This is much too expensive and too much to go through to undo what you have done. Make your portion sizes smaller and eat from a salad plate. I used a baby spoon in the begining to help me gauge better how much a "new" bite was. The sleeve is only a tool and its how you use it that will make the difference. Hang in there, its a journey and still a choice. You can do it.

I was sleeved on the 23 and have had the same pain and pressure you guys are talking about. I am starting to notice that pain or pressure below my heart is slowly starting to get better each day. I think not knowing how its going to be for the rest of my life made this a little more troublesome to me. I was afraid its going to "hurt" every time I eat from now on. I am still sure the sleeve was the right choice for me. I know in a few weeks when all of the soreness and pain is over, I will say like everyone else I know that has had this procedure, that I would do it again in a heartbeat. Hope you are all feeling better soon.

Got mine wed and I'm having the same thing. Several others said it takes a week or so. They also said sip very slow and try warm instead of cold. Try not to swallow extra air when you sip. I'm ready for the pain to be over too. Good luck...kinda made me nervous about what to expect but everyone reassures it goes away.

Thank you everyone. I'm finding not everybody I know is supportive of my decision to have this procedure. I feel if I share too much about my discomfort ill get the "you made this choice attitude" and it's nice to have the encouragement from people who have actually been through this. My husband, my kids, my sisters and a few friends have been great though. Im surprised at how many others that disagree feel obliged to share their opinion on my decision. I'm really excited about the changes that are coming. I guess the first few days are the hardest and I'm worrying too much. I have always enjoyed eating and was just hoping, even though i know i'm going to be eating a lot less it will not be something I dread.

Had my surgery three days ago and am having a lot of pain or maybe it's cramping when I swallow. I'm on Clear liquids and sipping very small amounts. Is this normal and if so how long does it last? Is there anything I can do to make it not so bad. Right now I can't even imagine ever enjoying real food again. Please tell me is eating going to feel this way when I reach that point?

The spasms are more in my belly. Everything I sip is either warm or room temp. I'm scared of cold because everyone says it causes more pain at first. I just really hope eating is not going to be something I dread because it hurts. I know I will never eat the same way and I know it's going to be worth it but not knowing what this is going to feel like down the road has me a little nervous.
