I think everyone responds to surgery different. Some have worse than others. And when reading about others experiences we have to remember that just because so and so had no pain Doesn't mean I am or I'm not going to. I haven't had surgery yet and I pray I have , a smooth recovery. That's all I can do. I fear the worse of course. As for the OP I'm sorry you are struggling. My best friend who has a high tolerance of pain had tons of pain after her sleeve surgery she compared it to being hit by a semi truck. She also had dry heaves (I spelled that , wrong). And threw up a lot. Hopefully things will get better for you soon

Muffin pans is a good idea. What size was your baking dish? And does it turn out gooey or more stiff?
